Came in last week hoping to get dinner along with a couple of drinks. We asked for a table for two and were quickly sat at a table near the bar. The server was quick to get our drink orders but we were never given menus for food by either the host or server. About 15-20 minutes go by before we were able to get hold of the server that took our drink order and was told they are only serving snacks. We were not told this when we asked to be seated and had we known when we got in, we wouldn't have even bothered ordering drinks. The website mentions that the dinner is served from 5 PM to late and we had arrived at around 8:15 PM which is not late at all, since they were open until 12 AM that day. Super disappointed with the service and lack of informing us that they are no longer serving dinner when we asked for a table for two. Hands down the most disappointing experience in New Zealand so far especially when the other reviews hyped up the restaurant. read more

What a fantastic meal! Our server was Hamish and I've seldom had some recommend dishes with such passion and outstanding knowledge of the ingredients to create perfect cocktail pairings! We ordered the rainmaker and missionary's downfall at our server's recommendation and both drinks were some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Later on, my husband got an Inca Haze. Also an excellent drink! Moving on to food, we asked out server for recommendations and followed his direction and he did not steer us wrong. The chargrilled jalapeno sausage was flavorful, delicious and had great dipping sauces. I wish it was a bit more jalapeno-y, but I know spicy food scares people here... We moved on to the Pork Belly and Broccolini. Wow. The pork belly had a perfectly crispy layer of skin on top, the inside was tender and not overly fatty (due to the rotisserie cooking process maybe) and served on black bean sauce with pineapple salsa. Fantastic! And who gets excited about broccolini? Anyone who eats the broccolini from here. Delicious! We scrapped every bit of sauce off the plate under the veggies. To finish we got the Zesti Roasted pineapple. Wonderful taste explosion! Fruity, spicy, creamy,, everything you want in a dessert. I also appreciate how helpful our server Hamish and the other staff were. About 90% through our meal another couple was seated next to me, who I can only describe as a perfume-bomb. The smell was so overwhelming it was almost sending me into an asthma attack and I couldn't breathe. The put our dessert into a to-go container and got our bill and we were able to finish our meal on the patio out front. I hate people who dip-dye their body in perfume and fumigate the rest of us. I appreciate the restaurant's help in allowing me to escape from the cloud of perfume as soon as possible. read more

Food had no seasoning and tasted bland. Service was poor - didn't clear any plates, didn't offer any water, didn't ask for second drinks, just dropped the food and ran away. Ambiance was kinda cool, but they had the door wide open and even though the place was empty sat us right next to the open door in the front. Definitely seemed like they didn't want us there. At the end of the night they screwed up our tab and tried to over charge us. read more

Our second time dining here and it was just as good as the first! The atmosphere is busy, but not noisy and made it easy to hold a conversation at the table. The waiting staff are prompt and friendly, can not fault the service :) What really makes this place stand out for me is their knowledge around food safety for my pregnant wife. We ordered some french fries as a side plate which on the menu comes with a spicy mayonnaise. The waitress identified that my wife was pregnant (a brave call but she is obviously pregnant), and informed us that the mayonnaise had raw egg in it and that she can bring a small dish of ketchup if that would be better. It's the first place that we've been to during the pregnancy where the staff were knowledgeable and informed about the food safety recommendations for women who are pregnant. Good work Amazonita!! Additionally the food is delicious and well priced, and with a wide range of food you are sure to find something that you feel like.
