For anyone who is in search of an awesome colorist, I highly recommend Jackie Spinella, whom I see every four weeks for a root touch-up, gloss, and blow-out. Jackie mixes two colors to achieve an almost exact match to my hair's natural color, before it had started to turn salt and pepper. The gloss she applies gives my hair a luxurious and healthy-looking sheen, and when she blows out my hair, she styles it beautifully, following the lines and contours of my haircut. God has blessed Jackie with the ability to work miracles. When I leave the salon, I look and feel decades younger than when I enter it. She restores what the years have taken away--and improves upon it. I leave the salon looking like an improved version of my younger self! In addition to being extremely talented, Jackie is a genuinely sweet and kind person. She is a lovely young lady who is blessed to earn her living by making people happy. She radiates joy, and going for a hair appointment with her is a delightful experience. I met Jackie when she was working at Micchiche Salon, which was located within walking distance to my home. When Jackie transferred to Beauté Bar, which was located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I followed her to that salon, even though I don't own a car and I had to take two buses to get there. I would follow Jackie to the ends of the earth, because simply put: she is the best! Beauté Bar closed its Wiilliamsburg location at the end of January. On March 30th, it re-opened in Ridgewood, Queens, under its new name: Amavi the Salon. Of course, I made an appointment with Jackie for that very same day. Due to the salon's relocation, there was an eight week hiatus between my appointments instead of the usual four. Instead of merely touching up my roots, awesome Jackie took the initiative to refresh my overall color. When she finished I looked and felt younger, prettier, and incredibly refreshed--just in time for Easter! It was the pick-me-up I needed, and I have been receiving many, many compliments on my hair! Amavi is Latin for "I have loved" and I guarantee everyone who visits Amavi the Salon will love it. It's beautiful and spacious and all kinds of hair services are available there. Obviously, if you need a root touch-up, gloss, and blow-out, I highly recommend Jackie. I also recommend her if you need lowlights or a single process, because she's very talented in those techniques, as well. Samantha, who owns Amavi (and who owned Beauté Bar), is very sweet, friendly, and welcoming, as are all of the ladies who work there. Amavi the Salon is located on Myrtle Avenue, in a section of Ridgewood that is convenient to restaurants, shops, and a historic district. The Q55 bus to Richmond Hill has a stop right across the street from the salon, so after my appointment with Jackie, I took the Q55 bus to Forest Park, and enjoyed a beautiful stroll through the park on my way home. So let me say how this place is amazing. The ladies are lovely and sweet. The place is clean SPOTLESS. And I know what you're thinking "girl how is it spotless if there's going to be hair all over the floor when they cut hair" that's the thing they don't just wait to clean it, they clean it right there and than when the hair stylist is done cutting a lovely women comes and cleans. I've been to many salons where they get hands friendly and at Amavi they are far from hands friendly. They're more on the side of wanting you to fall back in love with your hair. For the past 5 yrs Sam has been doing my hair. I'm very selective so when I find someone that listens and gives me what I'm looking for.... I will follow that hairstylist wherever she goes. When Sam told me she was joining Amavi I was excited to see what this new Salon was all about. I immediately made my appointment for opening day to have a root touch up. I was pleasantly surprise tho the salon was still in their finishing touches it was beautiful. This salon is not only a salon to me it's also my home away from home. I use to get my hair done when Samantha, Kristen and Jackie were in their old salon on the Northside IYKYK, once they moved it was a no brainer I definitely followed. I'm one of their blonde dolls who gets extensions and Brazilian treatment every appointment, and my hair hasn't felt or looked this amazing. I love my hair, it came out beautiful the bangs and style were exactly how I wanted it!
