Here in Denmark, everyone has their own MD to refer to when they're ill. If you're on Sundhedssikring Class 1, then you have to choose your own doctor upon your arrival in Denmark and if you need a specialist, you have to ask for referral from your own doctor.
Henning Nyhuus is my doctor and I don't have complaint. He speaks English and always listen patiently to our complaints. I have had the "pleasure" of going to his offices several times, but mostly because of vaccinations I had to have due to my work. Other times it's mostly for small illness. He won't have problem referring you to a specialist or a clinic to get your blood sample taken if he suspects something else, we know how some doctors can be a pain in the ass when it comes to asking referrals, Nyhuus isn't.
