Yeah, if you like the big comfortable seats and Hollywood films on a huge screen, you should go to one of the big commercial cinemas. But if you're into film as an art, that's a good place. You often get to see films, which don't run in a commercial one as well as old films. You can take buy a drink in Schwarzer Hahn and take it in.

With a number of beautiful medieval buildings in the Altstadt it forms the perfect background for the wedding which is done in very traditional style and with all it's grandeur. This is a big event in this town and from what I was told "the big event" for this town once every four years. It is extremely well organized and you can buy tickets to attend the events in advance or just turn up and pay €2.50 to enter the town during the events and enjoy the festivities. The people attending were equally involved and there was a lot of raising of hands and shouting "hallooooo" throughout the day. The parade itself is beautiful and colorful and on a day like today (sunny and warm) it is truly a wonderful thing to watch. During the evenings there are medieval games, food served from medieval times and lots of other activities over a period of a couple of weeks or more. There is an online calendar published so you can plan ahead. Parking was not too difficult in town a short distance away from the event and there is a lot of shuttle buses taking people to the train station and also to parking areas. A wonderful festival well worth attending and experiencing. Next one is in 2017 and I am glad we were able to attend this year and experience this wonderful event. Like most festivals in Bavaria this was extremely well organized and run. There was access to viewing areas and plenty of food stalls and toilet facilities around.

The scenery itself is unique. They have a broad variety of different foods such as German sausages, Sauerkraut, Glühwein (mulled wine), etc. Moreover, there you can buy everything for Christmas - from funny luminous Santa-Style caps to high quality woodcarvings. It is one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in this part of Germany. It gets just four stars because the stalls, which sell underwear, socks, and bags destroy a little bit the atmosphere. Although it is funny to see such stuff on a Xmas market.
