Is wanting an early morning coffee an American thing? I want to get up at five, have some coffee and go down to the gym before the day starts. Maybe a little coffee maker in the room even? -The hotel gym, while beautifully situated in this cool little converted room/free standing outbuilding deeper on the grounds, consisted of two or three cardio machines. No free weights, no weight machines. -the Restaurant Park Laurin (again, in a BEAUTIFUL environment under a canopy on the grounds) was good but not great. -The lobby was pretty sweltering when we first entered. (in June) But enough minor complaints. Overall, the place was pretty awesome. Just old-school enough, very charming, spacious rooms, amazing grounds to walk around (see pix), all the staff were great, deluxe breakfast buffet. The cocktail we had on the Laurin Bar patio overlooking the lush, green grounds made for one of the best moments of the 4 days in Bolzano.

When we got to Bolzano, she did not find it charming and she found Zum Rosenbaum on an internet search. We drove over to Nalles to see the place before booking a room. That is where the hospitality began. Before even booking a room, the receptionist TOOK us to see 2 different rooms before choosing the right room for us. That was just the beginning. They printed menus in English solely for us. They typically cater to Italian or German speaking patrons. Next, they purchased a book on the South Tyrol region in English that they offered to us to take home that shows all the history of the region. Unmatched hospitality. Worth all 5 Stars and then some.

The hotel picked us up from the train station at no additional cost. The driver spoke broken English but showed up on time in a marked car and made us feel welcomed. It was around a twenty to thirty minute ride up the mountains to the lodge/hotel/resort...lol. Check-in was quick and easy and we were on our way to ski (which was half off since we arrive after noon). The local ski rental place was just a short walk from our room. Our hotel was directly off the slopes so if at anytime we wanted to go in from skiing we could...and the hotel arranged for pick-up our rented ski gear at no charge! Lastly our stay came with dinner. This was my only disappointment. The meal was mediocre at best. It started with a buffet style first course or "hors d'oeuvres". We had a choice of three second corse options and two entree options. Finished by a standard desert. It was not bad. I did not come with a drink so they had a menu of overpriced wine options available. All in all I would definitely come here again. Oh I almost forgot about the spa/pool area. They have one of those outdoor hot pools!!! I just can't say enough good things.

Luckily one customer spoke English and German, so we were able to communicate with the owner. The room was quite nice and cozy with GREAT view. Breakfast was German style and coffee was very good. The dog there was cute. Even though the owner didn't speak English, they are nice and very kind. Price was not so expensive compared to others, I recommend!
