The are good with simple and straightforward tax returns but anything that requires knowledge and effort they are not. They didn't fix their mistakes and would not return emails or phone calls. read more

Will not return my tax documents or file my taxes even though I had paid cash to have them done. I don't have a receipt (my bad) however I can't even get a phone call returned. This has been going on since may of 2020. I'm so screwed with the IRS because of this fraudster.No response to emails and they are never in the office. If by rare chance you get your phone call answered it's by the receptionist and she just makes up an excuse that Ben is not in and quickly sends you to voicemail before you can get a word in. Good luck getting a return call or email response. I'm looking into legal action. He has cost me $1,000's of dollars for not filing, penalties and interest. read more

STAY AWAY! Save yourself a lot of headache and don't consider using this service! I have worked with Alsfeld Tax Service for many years, starting with the founder Barry Greene, who ran a professional business; however Ben, his son, took over the business from his father and it's a whole different story. Ben and his wife Jana have not responded to my phone calls, emails or the certified letter I sent them regarding errors made on my tax return and my request for them to return my original financial documents to me. The worst part is they have made huge errors in my tax returns for the past 3 years, which, had I not pointed them out to them and had they not been fixed, it would have cost me thousands of dollars in taxes I did not need to pay. I do not know if Ben or Jana Greene are CPA's or not. I once asked Ben and he said "yes," but they are NOT licensed in the New Hampshire State Licensing site as CPA. This has to be the worst tax agency I have ever dealt with. I was referred to them from a pilot b/c they deal primarily with the airline industry. Since I was new in the industry I wanted to be sure to go with a tax agency that knew what they were doing. Sadly, since April of 2013 I've only communicated with Alsfeld via email through a receptionist. Though she is polite. no one has returned my calls, my taxes have no been filed and my extension ends on Oct 15. This is ridiculous! If you contact their office no one is ever available. Beware! Alsfeld tax service is owned and operated by a lying, deceitful crook. On two separate occasions in different years I was assessed additional taxes after filing my return from Alsfeld. When I asked Alsfeld to look into the matter they were very polite and replied in the affirmative. Initially I would check with them every week then every month...this went on for at least six months in both instances and they were lying the entire time. Not doing anything but stringing me along hoping I would go away and they cost me thousands of dollars in taxes. Unfortunately I live out of state and was not able to deal with Alsfeld face to face. If there was a star for "zero" I would give it. I had them do my taxes last year and it took them nearly 3 months to get them to me. I also had called them more than 7 times with questions or adjustments that I found and needed to be added to my information before filing but never got a return call...except once. And that was the receptionist telling me that she was calling me back to tell me that everyone was on vacation and that they would get back to me when they returned. That was in June! Needless to say, I never heard another word from them and finally received my taxes in late June with no apology, no phone call telling me they were on their way and they were wrong because they never returned my calls about the additional information. Now, call me stupid, but when tax time came around this year I figured it was best to stick with someone who already knew my records on my two rental properties. So I decided to give them a chance again...like I said, "Stupid"! Once again it has been over 2 months that they have had them and no return calls or anything on my several calls to them. They have done our returns for three years now. I might have given them five stars but I agree with other reviewers that they can be difficult to get on the phone. Our returns have been finished quickly and we've never had an issue that raised a flag with the IRS. They have found deductions we would not have found on our own. I'm especially pleased with having them handle multiple state returns for us. Those used to make me crazy since they are all completely different and some are quite complicated. read more

I just started my own online business last year and bought a house, on top of still having student loans. I *never* would have been able to find my way thru the process this year. I'm local to them. I have used them for 4 years. In 4 years I can say they were good at getting my taxes done in 4 weeks or less but communication with them is absolutely the WORST! After filing my 2013 taxes I got a notice from the IRS about additional amounts needed. I faxed the notice to the office. I emailed them to the office. I called (5 times) to follow up (over a 4 week period). I got NO response from ANYONE at Alsfeld Tax Service. ZIP. Totally ignored. I left messages with Ben, and the general reception mailbox. Fines got higher and I ended up paying THOUSANDS because they never responded. I even went to their office (TWICE) to speak with someone and the office was closed (and this was mid day - 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM). They don't answer calls, They don't answer emails. They don't respond to faxes. There are better companies out there to choose than these amatures. read more

I've used Alsfeld Tax Services since 2003 when I moved back to NH. I've known this family nearly my entire life. I can't imagine a group of more honest and professional group of people. I hope they never change the way they do things! read more
