Nice store. Well merchandised. Staff was hit/miss. One associate started to help with shoes but kept disappearing. Would see her wandering around...maybe she was testing out some of her own shoes. Waited, waited and waited then Kaylee asked if we needed any help. Finally found the right pair. Finish what you start or turn it over to someone who can close... If you need the exact gear you're ordering, don't order from Al's! Check other reviews to see that Als.com often ships the wrong gear. I was sent the wrong gear for a time critical trip. When I called about the issue, Als.com said that it is totally their fault, that they have never carried the listed and pictured gear that I ordered. Say what??? Why didn't they call me instead of shipping a knowingly wrong item AND totally putting me in a bad situation? How can any item be trusted on their website? I ordered full length Black Diamond STS ski skins and they sent me Black Diamond kicker (1/3 length) skins. Totally different skins for different purposes. This is the best costumer service I've ever seen.and it is consistent. I make a point to come here because they always treat me like a VIP. I've had to return things before where they simply took my word on it. They mount scopes for free. Worst shopping experience EVER! These guys advertise great sales like the one we went to today. Then they staff about 1/4 the amount of people to work the sale. There was never anyone available to help on the floor, and the line to get out to buy anything was ridiculous. Even on slow days at the store it takes FOREVER to get out. i bought a mossberg pump shotgun from al's and took it to a range to shoot it. the first shell got jammed in the gun and i couldn't get the pump mechanism jammed and i couldn't get it to move, so i took it back to al's and they told me to take it to a gunsmith. i reminded them that i had just purchesed the gun and have not even been able to fire it yet, they just said sorry. so i asked them if i could send them the gunsmith repair bill, sorry. i'm doing my best not put curse words in this, but i will say that they don't back their products at this place. read more

One of my favorite sporting goods stores. Always a priority when I'm visiting Logan. I think it's awesome they have their rifles out on the floor and that they allow customers 18+ yrs old to pick them up and handle them without having to stand around and wait for gun counter help. This sporting goods store feels like a Performance Bike Shop paired up with an REI. A quarter of the store is bicycles, and a bike maintenance shop. There is even a fleet of model year Trek/Specialized bikes, both road and mountain, that can be rented out by the day. They tend to have great sales on running shoes, paddle boards of all sizes, rock climbing gear, and anything else you can think of for the summer. I highly recommend stopping in. read more

Prices are very high. They sell everything at MSRP, rather than even a standard list price. Their building is really incredible, and their selection is great. I love how they have high quality product, but their aren't helpful and come across as arrogant. They know their stuff, but just don't come down to the level of the customer to express care and empathy. They need to do better at this, and make their in store prices much more affordable. If they can't adapt their store to meet the online competition, then I won't be buying from their store anymore. read more

I recently ordered my daughter a balance bike from here, I ordered the green bicycle because that is the one she asked for from Santa. I received the bike and it was pink. I called the next day left multiple voice-mails with no return call. I called again and they told me the bike was out of stock and they shipped me the correct one. They then proceeded to tell me to have her unwrap her gift then mail it back to them... however she wasn't sure if they would ever have them back in stock. ?? More towards the cycling department , my experience with Al's has always been great! I went in to pick up some bearings for my bike and before I walked out the door one of the staff members made sure that I knew exactly how to install the bearings, that I had the right grease and how much torque to apply. The employees are arrogant, and I usually end up waiting for at least 20 minutes in a department, seeing multiple employees pass by, before I've been able to flag one down and have them half-heartedly help me. One salesperson to interested in talking to what was obviously a friend and and another salesperson that passed by a few times trying not to notice we needed help, after fifteen minutes of this we left. I ordered from Al's online. I called and asked about their return policy. The woman I spoke to said she did not know and someone in the internet ordering department would have to answer that and no one was in....ok....seems like a simple thing for any employee to know but ok. I check the status of my order. It shows shipped, great! However 3 days later I receive a notice saying the item I ordered was not in stock and even though the order status states "shipped", this is inaccurate and I will be refunded. I have not received my refund and I am very disappointed as this was a Christmas gift and at a great price. Now I have to venture out and search around town very last minute for the item because of this cancellation, and short money since I have not yet been refunded. This is a major inconvenience and disappointment. Items that are advertised online need to be up to date! And if they are not available, don't allow people to buy them! Again, seems like a simple concept but they missed the boat on this one. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from them again. read more

Als.com sent us a defective product, I emailed them and they agreed to swap it out, i asked for details on how to return the product and about a month later and 4-5 emails later no response from Als.com. I then put a credit card hold on the transaction and low and behold the next day they contacted me playing confused as to why i would put the transaction on hold. Anyway we agreed to send them back the defective product and then lift the transaction block once it was replaced. We sent them the product back at our expense to package the product and after a over a month and a number of emails, no reply..... I called them today and they changed their mind against the good faith agreement we had come to so they basically tricked us in to sending the product back and now they weren't planning on sending a replacement. This company has terrible customer service and can not be trusted, all what we wanted was a product that worked! read more

I wanted to update a review I gave from 1 year ago. I said that their customer service was poor.......well, they have improved tremendously. They seem to have increased the number of staff. The staff was constantly asking if they could assists me. I was very impressed. Seemed like a different store. I hope it continues and that when they move into their new building that the staff continues to be great. I only give it 4 stars because I still think that their prices are too high. Andrew helped me rent skis in the rental shop. I was running late after seeing my movie and arrived 2 minutes before closing. I offered to come back the next morning but he offered to help me anyway. He was cheerful and very kind. The skis he rented me were perfect! This kind of service is hard to find, especially with a great attitude. Al's is lucky to have such a dynamic employee.
