This is a fantastic park with many easy trails and a huge variety of plant life, including a boardwalk area over a marsh fed by a spring, to massive cedar and pine trees that would make you think you are seeing giant sequoias. Enter the park from the campground after a 15 minute walk uphill along Alder Road from the visitor center or ferry dock. I only had 45 minutes and wish I could have spent 3 hours here exploring all of the trails. I did the main trail, part of the big tree trail and Dozer trail, but you can easily go all the way to the other side of the island and the airfield.

This upper area is only a small portion of the park, with lush trees throughout the rest of the park. read more
