I have lived all over the United States, renting due to the nature of my employment. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had living in a rental unit. I will summarize the key points of my opinion regarding the complex below in order to most effectively persuade you to never rent here. -apartments are old and in disrepair due to ineffective or unprofessional repairs (wall patches, ceiling water damage, damaged electrical outlets) -trash dumpsters are frequently overflowing with refuse, oftentimes garbage bags and trash from garbage bags lays upon the ground for weeks near the dumpsters. -property management is unresponsive to any complaints By far the biggest issue at the complex is that there is absolutely no screening of tenants by property management. The only important thing to the company is to keep units occupied at all times. This leads to the worst sort of residents in these apartments, as well as constant evictions and residents fleeing the conditions of the complex. Oftentimes, apartments become de facto flophouses. Several residents actually rent the apartment, then allow many others to live there, either full time or part time. There was actually a felon on probation living next door to my unit who had rented "a room" from the actual tenant on craigslist. There is absolutely no oversight or management of the complex once the "front man" rents the apartment. These people do not seem to be gainfully employed either, so they will always be present in the complex - day or night. In addition these "flop house" apartments are often lived in by younger drug-using residents. Loud alcohol-fueled parties throughout the week and weekend often ensue, without any effective response by the designated security agency (Harbor Patrol). You will have no quiet or peace in your apartment while living here. There are a great many domestic disturbances taking place on a regular basis. There are many pitbulls and other prohibited dog breeds (prohibited in the lease you sign) present within the complex. Management collects no pet rent from these pets obviously, since they are prohibited. They will however, charge honest pet owners with allowed breeds. I rented here because I had to find a place from out of state on a short notice and I took a gamble. I lost that wager. I have approximately four months remaining on my lease and the complex will not release me from the lease, even with all the issues I have experienced. In sum, I implore you, do not consider renting here, If you have a family or small children, stop at this review and think of this complex no more. Any other renters are strongly discouraged from renting here. Negative reviews such as this are often countered by canned responses from the management company trying to mitigate the damage. Do not believe any of it. The only motivation I have is trying to save you from leasing in this slum and exposing yourself to the misery and frustration that I have experienced. Below i pasted what i sent in with the survey they recently emailed me. Also the tour was rushed and she seemed very confused on pricing for the units. Plus the kitchen was hideous, cabinetry very worn and old. "Thank you for sending me this survey because I really wanted to share my experience. I called to make an appointment and had both a person call me back to confirm as well as an email confirmation, and I'm thinking wow! What excellent and professional customer service. I head over to Alpine, a 45 min drive from Chula Vista, with my new born baby. I get there by 2:45 for my 3pm appointment to find a note left on the door stating no one would be returning until 3:30. Confused I checked my appointment time and date to make sure I had not made a mistake and then I proceeded to call the call center. They also confirmed my appointment and said that they weren't sure where the property managers were but they should be there shortly. I waited and around 3:15 i decided to finally call the after hours number and one of the workers (I believe it was Jose) came to help me. He was very polite and apologetic and really tried to help me. At that point I calmed down a little as I was very upset with the situation and found it to be incredibly disrespectful of my time and unprofessional that no one was there for my appointment. As he was already showing me around the managers showed up. I wanted an explanation as to what could have happened which she failed to do and did not want to even acknowledge her mistake. I was very displeased with them and I would like higher management to know what kind of managers you have that cannot take accountability. My apartment is roach infested (calling da health dept to report). Da manager Maribel is in fact rude n disrespectful towards elderly, disabled tenants. Elderly/disabled can call adult protective services n file a lawsuit to remedy the situation. Da busted up equipment in the weight room, freezing cold jacuzzi, pool wit debri floatin in it, stench from trash bins dat r wayyy too small to accommodate garbage,. Da security guard looks like a drug addict n constantly on cell phone wit car parked at entrance. My neighbor called one night cause someone was banging on her windows n da security place did nothing. Busted up washer n dryers wit a machine dat takes u money and the manager say it not their problem. Da rug was warn down to a frazzle when they rent to me. Caugt someone tryin to break into my van cuz da alarm goin off late at night. Da paint peelin off da old tub, looks gross. Tons of black widow and brown recluse spiders my elderly husband had 2 spray ourself. Da unhealthful livin conditions is bein reported cuz I had enouff. No handle control for the wall heater half to bend way down on hands and knees on the floor near da piolet light to turn it on n off n I weighs close to 300 pounds. Dis is not good. Shame on dem ladies who run the office. I am sending messages to fellow tenants to help them with their complaints. NO one should have to be subjected to these slum lords. I would love to get a kick out notice from them. I'd be gone so fast you'd see skid marks. read more

I woke up Saturday morning, and found my bathroom with water on the floor. I called the emergency number and the person on the line got in touch with maintenance right away. Robert came by about half an hour later. From the start, I felt confident that Robert knew what to do. He took charge of the situation and called in the plumber. It was found that there is a hot water leak. Robert then called in the technician to find out where the leak is, it was found to be in the slab. After discussing the problem with the technician, Robert decided to NOT rip up the kitchen slab and run a copper pipe through the cabinets to connect to the "T" fitting underneath the kitchen sink. Robert also took care of the toilet leak at the base, and replaced the water valve, and the inner workings of the toilet. Also, I was without hot water and Robert supplied me with a key to an empty unit if I should want to take a hot shower, totally unheard of! I plan in retiring here, and this kind of service convinces me that I am making the right decision. Robert saved me from extreme inconvenience and his dedication to customer support is second to none. As we say in the Navy, BRAVO ZULU to Robert and the team at Alpine Village Apartments. read more

My apartment flooded last Sunday due to a slab leak (2nd time). I called the emergency number and spoke to a lady whose name I believe is Dubi. She responded immediately and took control of the situation. She pulled up all the water from the hard surface and carpet. Brought in several dehumidifiers and fans to start the drying out process. She called me that evening to let me know that a plumber would be here the next morning. The plumber arrived and instead of jackhammering up the slab, rerouted the plumbing through the walls. Again Dubi called me that night to let me know someone would be there the next day to repair the drywall and the following day the painter would finish the painting. All the while she kept my place as clean as possible. The next day she had my carpets cleaned and had several people including herself move all the furniture back in place and wiped down everything. As of yesterday, it's like the leak never happened. Dubi, and I hope I have her name right, represents the epitome of what customer service should be. In my opinion, she is an outstanding employee. I only gave this place one star because there was nothing lower to give them. They have 2 pools. I pool is closed because the Jacuzzi is broken. The other pool is GREEN, murkey with gobs of hair floating around and sand, its supposed to be heated but they turned the heater off and it is cold. The jacuzzi has no heat and is cold. Been this way all summer. Called corporate and left a message. Will be calling the health department. The dumpsters are over flowing with trash all over. Homeless people dig in them. Right in front of my door some tweaker with a non op vehicle was parked and being searched and arrested by the sheriff. Homeless people living in their cars here. I don't feel safe here. The carpet was old and cheap baseboards falling off. My apartment is so small no room for dining room table so the table sits in the middle of the living room. Just one old cheap wall unit air conditioner. The only thing good is it is one story. Good amount of parking. Nice big weight room and club house. Managers have been polite. read more

This review is specific to maintenance rep Dubbie, at Alpine Village Apartment Homes. She is always professional and friendly - it's always a pleasure speaking with her as she is so positive. Dubbie is generally able to complete a request properly and quickly. When I have asked about an issue that Dubbie is unable process, she will generally advise that she will check further as necessary and will get back to me on the subject. Overall, living in Alpine Village has been a pleasure. The office and all maintenance associates are friendly and generally helpful and proactive. During my 2 1/2 years here I never encountered such unprofessional, lying, irresponsible, incompetent staff. They did everything from commit fraud with my money to harass people's children. There were two attempted child abductions they swept under the rug and refused to give residents info. Everyone I know has been robbed the place is overrun with tweakers. Two instances of pedophiles preying on kids. People living 15 deep to an apartment. It's a real shit hole. Your kids won't be safe here and not o let will they take your whole deposit, you'll owe. One of our rooms flooded yesterday due to the rain! Donnie came right away and handled the situation to stop anymore water coming into the house until the rain stopped the next day. Today she came back and addressed all my questions and concerns about what the next steps are in fixing this issue! all I can say is the maintenance here at the complex always handle my issues within a timely manner and are always so kind and handle everything professionally! Dobbie has helped me 5+ times amongst others but I appreciate her time and attitude everytime she helps! read more

The maintenance crew here at Alpine Village Apartments are amazing. You put your request in and they respond quickly. My shout out are to Eli and Dubbie. They have been the ones who come out when things need to be fixed. They are professional and courteous. They fix the problem right the first time because they care. On top of all that they are helpful and talk with you to explain what was fixed. I can't say enough good thing about the maintenance crew here especially Eli and Dubbie. Leasing team: Spoke to Jordan about possibly renting a unit and he was incredibly helpful and kind! Answered all my questions clearly and promptly and listened to what I was looking for. 10/10 great experience! Apartment: I have not rented yet but from the walk through I did it was lovely! Lots of space, no carpet, and they allow my 50lb Samoyed. It can be so hard with weight restrictions to find a rental place so if you have a dog, check here! read more

The maintenance group are always on top of getting things done fast in our community. Since I've lived here, Dubbie has always been one of the best if not the best in communicating with tenants and fixing their problems going on with their homes. Alpine Village has been my home for multiple years. Grounds are beautiful, good amenities (new pools look amazing), staff is incredible and friendly, NO neighbors above you!!! Sad to say my family has to move on only because we grew to big for our 2x2; kids need more space. I always recomend this place to my friends and family.
