I called the high bidder to better understand this dramatic difference and was told "Davie can't do this job for that low price and you'll be sorry". They were right on both counts, but I failed to heed the message. The permit application filed by Davie Shoring was rejected by county government on all 8 conditions for the contracted elevation. Initially Davie Shoring proposed returning 1% of the $12,240.00 deposit I paid. The proposal was sent to an address in a different city and county. I rejected it when I finally received it. A follow up proposal, again to an address in a different city and county, offered to return more but still retain over $4,000 for their "expenses" which included services and documents I had purchased and submitted. The contract called for Davie to complete 7 "Work to be performed" tasks. It also required 3 things I was responsible for. I met all 3 but Davie provided none of the 7 in the contract. Davie claims the county government misled them although Davie claims to be the experts in Florida elevations. I gave Davie a boundary survey, but they ordered their own which somehow omitted over 3,000 square feet of my property. They said they didn't know if it was accurate as the "only Spanish speaking survey crew" couldn't communicate well. The "engineer" running their Florida office is not on the state list of licensed engineers. At no time, other than the commissioned salesperson, did an employee of Davie ever visit the site. Davie kept over $4,000.00 for providing no services. They know it will cost more to sue them than I could recover.
