Carol was the local escort while Hiro was the Japan based guide. In Okinawa, we also had a bus girl, Sayaka. Except for our first hotel in Naha, the hotels were topshelf. JAL City Naha had small rooms. The reasoning for staying there was that it was adequate but with a good location. The buffet breakfast was very good. It included one very fancy dinner. The itinerary was very good for the first timer to both islands. I only wish we had more time on Kyushu. We didn't visit Satsuma and Sakurajima, maybe next time. Although it was a little more expensive than the other agencies, I think it was worth it. I would not hesitate to book with Kobayashi Travel in the future

Tomomi S, was our super tour guide and definitely made the tour enjoyable and entertaining. She skillfully shepherded us tourist sheep through our destinations on Okinawa island and it's neighboring islands. Tour participants vary, but our particular group was great. Everyone was sociable, courteous, followed instructions and showed up at designated meeting points on time - a fun group. We will definitely consider N & K Travel for a future tour.

The ladies were about to close but allowed me to go in the last few minutes. We had a very last minute trip to Japan and wanted to purchase rail tickets after consulting with the travel agent who did not pressure us to purchase anything but gave us real examples and weigh the pros and cons. We ended up not purchasing the rail tickets based on their recommendation with the timelines and where we were going. Loved their honesty and advise and appreciate it very much.

The cabin is simple and charming, giving off that classic Hawaiian camping vibe right near the beach. It's perfect for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy the outdoors without the usual hotel frills. The downside was definitely the presence of some dead bugs here and there in the cabin, which felt a bit off-putting. It's an older structure with a rustic charm, but could use a bit more attention to cleanliness and upkeep for comfort. That said, if you're into rugged, no-frills beach camping with easy access to beautiful coastline and great nature, it's worth it. Bring your own supplies and insect repellent, and don't expect luxury--this is more about the authentic island experience. Great for those who love the outdoors and don't mind living a little rough for a few days.

If you stay in the condos, do NOT stay on the first floor. As soon as the sun sets, they will invade. Up until that moment, our stay was enjoyable. We spent the day at the beach and played putt-putt. Spent the evening at the condo playing board games. The condo had a full kitchen, so I was able to cook breakfast and dinner. But once nighttime came, so did the bugs!

It was a complimentary tour--his third time refining the experience before officially offering it to the public--and it far exceeded our expectations. Kamaka has a relaxed, engaging, and easy-to-understand presentation style that made the three-hour stop-and-go tour both enjoyable and informative. Throughout the walk, he shared historical photographs that beautifully illustrated how Hawaiʻi has changed over time. He also provided QR codes at various stops, allowing us to continue learning more about each topic on our own. Such a thoughtful touch! What stood out most was Kamaka's genuine passion for his Hawaiian heritage. His extensive research was evident, and he shared fascinating historical facts alongside heartfelt stories from his beloved Tutu, who was born in 1916. Those personal stories brought the history to life and made the experience even more meaningful. Kamaka also thought of every detail to ensure everyone was comfortable. He provided sunscreen, umbrellas, hand sanitizer, granola bars, ice-cold bottled water, and even collapsible seats for anyone who needed a break. His hospitality and thoughtfulness were truly exceptional. At the end of the tour, he surprised each of us with a beautifully designed lapel pin featuring a red and yellow seedling--a symbol of growth, renewal, and the unyielding drive to rise upward. It was a meaningful keepsake and a perfect ending to an unforgettable experience. My husband and I have traveled extensively and participated in walking tours all over the world. We can honestly say that Kamaka's tour ranks among the very best. The care, preparation, knowledge, and genuine aloha he pours into every aspect of the experience are remarkable. I highly recommend Now and Then Tours with Kamaka!! A job exceptionally well done, Kamaka! Mahalo nui loa!
