We paid him close to $900 in advance.The first problem I have is that Beorn didn't even bother to show up. He must have booked another event the same day and wanted make more money, so he sent us a friend of his to do the catering that he was supposed to do. He sent us Chef Joseph. Although he was a nice guy, he was totally unprepared for the event. He was hinting to us before the event started that he may run out of fuel and eggs. How can you be low on fuel and food when the event hasn't even started? Just to recap... 1. We were invoiced for 2 chefs, but only got 1. 2. He only used (2) of the (8) brand new omelet pans we were promised. There were only 2 portable stoves used instead of the 6. 3. Chef did not bring 2 cases of fuel. Ran out after one hour. 4. Only received 2 of the 3 sauces. Missed the pesto sauce. 5. We were invoiced for 10 gallons of champagne/oj, which equals 160 cups. We did not get this. We were out of juice and champagne within 1.5 hours of the event. Chef ran out of the following items: * Fuel * Forks * Plates * Egg Beaters * Oil * Butter * Mushrooms * Passion fruit juice - Did not get 12 gallons 6. The décor was subpar. It was nothing like the photos he sent to us. When I first called him to discuss the issues, he assures me he will correct it. A few days later, he emails me saying we had more guests than expected and that they were over consuming the food bottomless mimosas. What?! We had a person at the front door checking off names on the rsvp list. We had 130 guests. Then he says that he has "closed his business and relocated out of state." Huh?? This guy has no idea how to make customers happy. We would have booked his company numerous times if he would have provided what he promised and/or corrected his mistakes. I don't know where these 5 star reviews are coming from, but my advice would be to not book him. Book another company. If you do go with him, pay with PayPal like we did. We got our half our money back which was fair. I will NEVER use his company again.

Cheryl went out of her way to accommodate every detail and request we asked for, from having our ukulele player learn our song (They Love Each Other by The Grateful Dead) on a weeks notice, to exploring every single option available to try and find a same-sex cake topper on Hawaii at the very last minute. When my mother wanted to be a sleuth to try and figure out our hotels, etc so she could do something, I put her in touch with Cheryl thinking she'd help her arrange dinner or a spa day at our hotel. Little did I know that Cheryl was talking to my mother and my mother-in-law almost daily, accommodating their requests and in the end keeping the big secret that our mothers paid for the entire day, photographer and wedding dinner. But even more special, Cheryl worked closely with them to give them the opportunity to put their small touches on our ceremony. Cheryl revealed the surprise after the ceremony and I can't tell you how special that was for us. Cheryl made it possible for our mothers to be part of our elopement and I can't thank her enough. I found Cheryl through an exhaustive Google search as I was looking for the right wedding officiant for my husband's and my elopement to the Island of Hawaii in December, 2013. Once I found Aloha Weddings' website - and saw smiley photos of Cheryl, her husband, Pas, and their rescued animals - I knew right away she was the right one for us. Anyone that rescues as many animals as they have has the same kind of heart I do! I contacted Cheryl to book her officiating services for our wedding and she was very quick to respond. Throughout the following months, whenever I needed to get in touch, had a new idea or wanted to ask Cheryl a question, she was always right there and ready with an answer. Her communication about our upcoming wedding day was awesome, but she also took the time to get to genuinely know my husband and I via email before we made our way to Hawaii for our wedding ceremony. Cheryl offers a variety of wedding packages of all sizes, including a la carte services like flowers, a cake, music, photography and even leis. She allows you to plan as much or as little of your day as you'd like and she can handle the rest. I'm a planner by nature, so I took the reins most of the time but it was nice to know I could count on Cheryl for all the other small details. The day before our wedding day, Cheryl came into Kona to meet with us, talk about how the day's events will unfold, what our last-minute preferences were and to answer any questions we had. She put us entirely at ease and we couldn't wait for the big day! We also ended up asking Cheryl to provide our flower leis and my husband's maille lei, as well as hiring Cheryl's husband to play the ukulele before and after our elopement ceremony. On our wedding day, both Cheryl and Pas were on time, prepared and ready to rock! The warmth, kindness and sincerity that they brought to our wedding day - and our marriage ceremony in particular - are qualities my husband and I will never forget. The food and venue were both incredible. Their team kept us on track throughout the night and acted as pseudo- day of planners. The team was incredibly responsive and patient with us as we made decisions about food, timing, and other vendors. They provided advice and answered all questions we had to help us create the perfect experience for us for our intimate wedding. We appreciated that everything could be handled in house by the Heartbeet/Pu'uwai team. They handled the bartending, cake cutting, servers, cleanup, and joined in some of the dancing! Plus, the food was INCREDIBLE. We had two kids, under 10, who can be picky, but they ate everything on offer! A true testament to delicious options that were curated for our event. We opted for family style, for our small group, and an extra protein because we couldn't decide on just one! The family style serving option helped us all feel at home, we loved it. Pu'uwai Gardens held a beautiful backdrop for the evening, including the covered area for eating and dancing, that included cute lighting, and the build in covered bar- stunning.
