We used Aloha Movers for our move from Kona to Kamuela. We decided to move in two stages to keep our condo in Kona staged with a large portion of our big furniture, and moved personal items and necessities for the first portion of the move. Jeannie, the owner, was very thorough explaining timelines, charges and recommendations to make the move most efficient. The first portion of the move turned out to take somewhat longer than expected-there were a lot of bins and boxes containing kitchen and personal items that were very heavy and fragile, and the movers took their time to make sure everything was not damaged in transport. Their care clearly paid off in the end, not one item was broken or damaged. They were all so easy to work with-helpful, good natured and willing to do what was needed to get the job done. When our condo sold we used Aloha again to move the final large furniture pieces. My husband and I had a lot of scheduling considerations-we had to sign closing documents on the condo at a specific time, pick up tax documents from our CPA and my husband had a flight to the mainland to help out after his fathers surgery. We were a bit stressed, but once again Jeannie was flexible, clear in her communications so we could plan our timelines, and very kind and easy to work with. Absolute angels. I was very nervous and intimidated trying to do this huge move all by myself. Jeanne accomodated this beautifully by visiting my home before the moving date to take a look at my stuff and tell me what size and exactly how many boxes to buy, which was incredibly kind and helpful. The crew was so funny and sweet that the day of felt like a bunch of friends were helping me. I was coming off a long illness and the home was ... in a bit of a state, but they completely rolled with this without a hint of judgement and total kindness. If you are looking for a reliable mover for your household goods, I strongly recommend Aloha Movers and Storage in Waimea (Kamuela). Our move involved pulling a 20-foot Matson container from the Kawaihae Port, transferring the contents to an Aloha Mover's truck at their warehouse, then delivery and installation at our home in Alii Heights. The company owner is Jeannie. She gives you that very personal touch you can only get from an owner-operator. She kept me updated on the progress of the move by phone until the moving truck arrived at our home. In fact, Jeannie drove the truck on moving day, supervised her workers and pitched in, though she did not count herself as a mover in the hourly cost. The heavy lifters were Dean and Bruce, two very personable and capable people. They did a great job handling our furniture and boxes. Aloha Mover's costs came in below estimates we received from White Glove, Kona Transportation, and City Moving. Trucking costs for the container were kept low because Aloha's warehouse is located within a mile of Kawaihae. One more plus: They were able to fit us into their busy schedule on very short notice. I had heard White Glove was also excellent but White Glove was booked up for almost a month out. read more

We used this company to pick up our container from the harbor and unload the container into our garage/house (no unpacking of boxes). In writing we were quoted a maximum price of $1800. Jeannie told me in an email that everything went great and she would charge my card on Monday. (but without any approval, no signature, she charged my card $4500!!) I arrived to the house early Monday morning only to find 1/3 of our belongings in the wrong places (I prepared a formal document with pictures and placement of all items, but she didn't bring it with her). When I asked her to come and fix it she said she was all booked for 2 weeks! (After arguing with her for 30 min, she said she would come and bring 2 guys around 5pm). At 8pm, 3 hrs. late, she showed up with one guy to move heavy dressers upstairs! To make matters worse, the guy she brought was my neighbor! Not a paid employee, and definitely not how I want to meet my neighbor. So I had to move items with my new neighbor. Over the next few days as boxes got moved around and items unpacked we noticed that our biggest piece of furniture was put together wrong, with an extra baggie of screws and the main shelf left out. She said it took her guys over 4 hours to put it together and would credit back those hours, but never did. I had to take it all apart anyway to put the shelf in (I did everything in less than 1 hour). When the 1 yr old 70" TV got connected a few days later, it didn't work (because there was a giant spider web crack across the entire screen). To top it off, they moved a brand new sub-zero fridge packed in the original box with a giant circle that said "NO DOLLY's". Because they didn't read that sign printed on all 4 sides, we now have 40 feet of track marks engrained in our hardwood floors. If all of that's not bad enough, we literally found our King Tempur-Pedic mattress in a ball upstairs. As they moved it up the stairs the layers (sewn inside) because dislodged and in their must be attempt to fix it, they tore it to pieces...and literally left it that way in the room. It's been over 9 months and Jeannie has refused to do anything, including providing insurance for the job. Jeannie told me that we declined it, which is all but impossible because there isn't even a place in her contract to sign for the job (for either party), never mind decline insurance. To clarify that even more, the federal law (US Department of Transportation), that she supplied us, states that even if a customer declined in writing, the vendor cannot ever waive below 60% coverage. Without a decline in writing, the law states that 100% replacement value is mandated by law. Those same laws also state that in no circumstance whatsoever can the vendor ever charge more than 10% more than the written estimate. So she overcharged us by 250%, refused to provide insurance and did more than 40K in damage to our brand new house and furnishings. I would steer clear of this company at all costs. read more

jeannie was great. friendly and personable. she was very accomodating. the moving and storage rates were better than competitors. . they moved our 40 ft matson container from the dock to their facility. the storage warehouse is in Kawaihae which is dry.(no mold).We had stuff in storage for over a year while our house was being built. the permits and building took longer than expected. there were times we had to get into the storage boxes to get stuff and they were very easy to work with. great people, good experience. would highly recommend them. read more
