My friend and I went to the bar inside this hotel and we had such a great time. I wish I caught the bartender's name because she was incredibly sweet and made some really delicious drinks. The food was amazing too! The whole vibe was just right--everyone was minding their business and enjoying themselves. We even sat outside for a bit, and the soft chairs were so comfortable, it made the experience even better. We were really just relaxing and enjoying every moment. I'm not sure about the rooms, but based on everything else, I'd definitely recommend this place. It's perfect for anyone who just wants to grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere without booking a room. I'll for sure be coming back!! read more

This was one of the most unsettling hotel experiences I've ever had. While I was in the shower, the heater in my room malfunctioned and filled the entire room with smoke. The fire alarm never went off, which is an extremely serious safety issue. I had my dog with me, and if I hadn't returned to the room quickly, things could have gone very badly. I immediately reported the issue to the front desk. They moved me to another room, but when I asked for reasonable compensation (like waiving the pet fee), the manager flat-out refused. No apology, no concern, no acknowledgment of the danger or inconvenience. Just "your compensation is a new room." A hotel with non-functioning fire alarms and faulty heating equipment should not be dismissing a situation like this. Their response showed zero accountability and zero concern for guest safety. I will not be staying here again, and I strongly recommend that management address their fire safety systems before someone gets seriously hurt. read more

I am only giving them a 1 because I have too. My experience was atrocious! There were teams of kids there for some competitions. The kids were allowed to roam the building in bunches and disturb the peace into the night. The hotel Nickel and dime us for everything. $5 for a zip lock bag of ice! $2 for an orange. The only thing complimentary was the watered down coffee and breakfast served does not equate to complimentary, after paying close to $400 for 2 nights. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!! read more

On the outside, sure, it looks nice and fancy.. but TRUST the interior and the rooms are NOTHING to be impressed about. *BEWARE* the "Breakfast for 1" being advertised on their WEBSITE.. is a LIE. Their dryer doesn't even DRY either!! I had to ask the front desk if they can dry my clothes for me which they were nice enough to do for me.... But come on!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!! Housekeeping tends to skip out on rooms as well. So you're lucky to be getting any fresh towels. They skipped me for 3 days and as of writing this, still haven't shown up... Apparently we get FREE water each time they come in??? I sure didn't get any.. OH, and the hot water tends to break A LOT. I had to take some COLD showers. Aloft Hotel - a place where optimism goes to die. The rooms are worn out, as if they've spent the past decade hosting wrestling matches or amateur lumberjack conventions. The bed was a creaking, spring-loaded torture device with pillows that felt like someone stuffed a garbage bag with old newspapers. On the bright side, the bar and live music were fun, but the bartender looked at the cocktail menu like it was a foreign language and then proceeded to invent a drink so profoundly wrong I had to assume it was a cry for help. Solid hotel! This is the first time at Aloft and I am impressed by how modern and chic everything is, including its tall ceilings. The lobby has a very cool vibe with plenty of seating and games such as connect four and pool for everyone to enjoy. I also love the spacious bathroom, especially the separate the sink from the toilet and the shower area. The bed itself is pretty cool as it faces the TV screen and there are plenty of desks and chairs inside to place your stuff. However, I think the highlight of this hotel is how fast the wifi network is. For a place where I have literally no cell signal I am so impressed by how quick the wifi is, probably the fastest of any hotel I have been in. read more

Business travelers beware!!! This hotel is inadequate for being productive and comfortable on business travel. Let me count the ways: 1. Noise level is too high. I arrived on a Monday evening to a deafening level of sound from the musician playing in the lounge area. Unfortunately, my 2nd floor room was close enough to the lounge area to still hear him. Until 10 pm. On a Monday. Coupled with rowdy people drinking in the bar area. Yup, heard them too. 2. Wifi is horrible. I never got wifi service in my room. I could in the lobby, but with truly miserable speed on VPN. The woman at the front desk genuinely wanted to help (hence 2 stars not one for this review) but had to refer me to their IT provider. Called them and they couldn't fix it so they escalated to an engineer. Who then woke me up at 10:50 pm saying it should be fixed - kudos for trying but who calls that late?!? Oh, and by the way it WASN'T actually fixed. 3. Room condition and climate control is sad. The A/C is terribly loud, and to say my room was worn is an understatement. If it was just the scuffed up headboards it wouldn't be so bad. But the towel rack half pulled out of the wall? Accident waiting to happen, not to mention just unacceptable. 4. Not super clean. I came back one night to find a used packet of coffee grounds dumped in the hallway near my room. Next morning, picked up but not vacuumed. 24 hours later, finally cleaned. It's all just too much to tolerate, really. Business travel is no picnic when you're on the road frequently. You just need a clean, comfortable place where everything works. Not at the Aloft Bolingbrook! Seems more like a party hotel, judging by what's apparently considered acceptable. I hope my company never books me here again. read more

Great location, fun atmosphere, staff and service was the worst I've had outside of $39/ night highway motel. It took asking for room cleaning service for 4 days to get it once only after demanding it. Same thing for extra pillows as the ones that were in the room were very flat. Anything asked of the staff seemed like a difficult task from looking up from their phone. They seemed helpful once you had their attention, but the follow through on their part was non-existent. I left my trash outside in the hall after asking service for a day, so it wouldn't smell up the room and it took over a day and half before it was removed from the hall. I dread asking for any other service because I know I'll have to pull teeth to make it happen. For a month long business trip this is not exactly the service I was looking for. The only thing I can be grateful for is when they accidentally checked me out of the room when I was out for the weekend they didn't clean it out from Friday to Monday when I returned, just turned off my key. As a bonvoy platinum member this was awful. I do not recommend. read more

Wish there were MORE than 5 stars as an option. This property was a perfect distance from our Chicago office and is located in an area that has several dining options. But the real gem of this property, is the STAFF! Nicole and the Manager Michelle were beyond friendly, accommodating and professional. "Pros - Staff is very friendly and helpful, they have live music most nights, a nice seating and bar area and the gym is not bad. Cons - not enough place to hang clothes if there a week or more, no iron or board in room and they did not provide any wash cloths." This trip was better... .upgraded me to a suite, and room was very nice with the exceptions listed above. I should have mentioned they have live music 3 times a week or more and a good selection of beer and a small selection of food. Christina (I think that is her name) is an awesome bartender/waiter. By far the worst stay in any hotel ever. Late night noise and the front desk says they give warnings. But the noise didn't stop. "Light music" from a band ends at 10pm but guests can apparently sing and clap and yell with their loud music without limitations in the courtyard and lobby. The front desk employee did not seem to care either. The only thing to limit the downstairs noise is the room fan. Children running up and down the hall at 3am, no one stopping them. ELEVATE YOUR EXPECTATIONS When you feel like a break from the Best Westerns, Marriott Courtyards, Holiday Inn Expresses, and want something.....sleeker, look no further. Aloft is a semi-upscale hotel chain featuring distinctly modern influences in their decor choices. Even the clientele base is hipper-than-average and skews younger that most other places. The nifty artistic accents and contemporary furnishings come at a price, however. A single night's stay can run you $160 (incl. taxes and fees), which still isn't all that bad, but compare this to the basement bargain price of $79/night at La Quinta and you'll see a big difference. I booked a room online and received a pleasant greeting upon arriving at check-in. Our room was spacious enough and had all of the appliances and features you'd hope for: coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, wi-fi, flatscreen TV. Nice big comfy bed too (gave it a good old fashioned test drive with LeAnn P hehehe #winkyface). We did more than just make ample use of the king size sleeper, though. I'm happy to report that Aloft's other forms of "entertainment" didn't go unnoticed. Wanting to relax between a wedding ceremony and evening reception, the two of us found ourselves at the snazzy in-house bar called "w xyz." Nolan took very good care of us, despite admitting that it was only his fourth or fifth day on the job. It was obvious he'd tended bar before, as he pulled off his services with great aplomb. Granted, we were the only ones there for the better part of an hour, so of course he gave us his undivided attention. There were cajun-spiced almonds and wasabi peanuts (AMAZING) for us to snack on, which was very much appreciated. Our order was a dirty martini for her and a Krombacher pilsner for yours truly. I love that my pils came in a tall, custom glass that perfectly vented the beer. Eventually we put in an order for pretzel sticks; they arrived hot and poofy with a cup of cheese dip on the side. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5 When we returned later that evening (midnight on a Saturday/Sunday), there was a huge gathering of people in the lobby area. Apparently there was speed dating that had taken place earlier, in addition to an excellently rowdy crowd of post-wedding partiers. We got another round of beers and played billiards (it's free!) Wish I would've brought my swim trunks -- or at least my Borat-style crotch sling -- because Aloft had a pool I could've taken a quick dip into. Instead I hung out on their chic outdoor patio with other late-night revelers, which was also fun. Now that I'm a Starwood hotels preferred member (although god knows what the f*ck THAT means), I'll probably stay at another Aloft in the future. My bookings here have always been pleasant, memorable ones. Definitely recommend. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and if you're feeling something different......something classy.....then perhaps Aloft is right up your alley, like it is mine. read more

At my time of stay this was the most expensive option. But, at roughly $125/night fees and all it was not expensive at all considering compared to other places around the nation. However, the tv/satellite system had issues upon check in. The place is trying to be upscale/boutique like as if it were in an area that may be considered as such like NYC or LA. Both which are $hit holes today. A dirty fridge and no microwave, no comp breakfast. It was a place to sleep. But for that there are likely better options maybe for less $$$. Very disappointing, I will excuse the entry full of cigarette butts to the employee shortage, paper thin walls, neighbors talked until 11:30 and if I didn't drown them out with the tv I could here every word they said. Beds were uncomfortable extremely hard, I know some people like that. Most upset because our room was t cleaned. When I inquired about it I was told I had to request cleaning by 8:00a.m., I said " would have been nice to know" I was told there was a notice in our room. There was not. Interesting to say the least. Beds are hard as cardboard, sitting on the bed my booty hit the hard part of it, so clearly not a comfortable bed. Upon checking in it looked like you were walking into an Applebee's and TGI Fridays mixed together. Very unorganized and nothing really makes sense as far as the room goes. Using the bathroom the first time in our room and the toilet paper was about almost out but still was designed in an upside down triangle form which is what they do at hotels but the paper was almost out. We don't get a fresh roll? We get used toilet paper. Aircon is from the 90s and either blows really cold or not with that particular smell. Think humidity. The bathroom has a creepy blurred out window that you could see from the bedroom area which is kind of interesting and makes me feel like I'm back at work at the hospital again lol. Sorry I know this might sound very picky but get here, lay on the bed, walk in the front desk area and you'll see everything im saying. read more

We just used the Aloft to book rooms for our daughter and son/in-laws wedding reception. With COVID, we had booked /cancelled/book multiple times over the past few years. We received nothing but professional, and friendly service from Monica. She always replied to my questions (which were many) within a day. The hotel is fun and quirky and not only did the wedding couples friends love it, so did the "older" crowd. It is a great location, with restaurants snd shopping close by. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the shuttle to the venue a great plus! The desk staff was so attentive, especially Shay, Michele and Tierra, who were so helpful with a brunch we hosted. read more

I've stayed in nicer dorm rooms. This room was among the grossest I've ever had to sleep in. From the moment we arrived, I wanted to check out, but unfortunately couldn't make any changes because our wedding shuttle was about to leave. The room smelled damp and musky with a hint of stale smoke. It was very warm in the room - the air conditioned was barely putting out cool air. The floor in the "bathroom" had water stains all over it; the shower had mildew/rust streaks in it and the toilet moved. Under the desk was an exposed light socket with FOIL wrapped around something?! Thank god my toddler wasn't staying with me...! Even the windows had paint and foundation chipping away and the cheap ceiling laminate was peeling in one spot. I left this place feeling like I needed to shower and definitely wouldn't stay at this place again, even if someone PAID ME. read more

Stayed here over a weekend because my son had a soccer tournament nearby. Upon entry, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Check in was a breeze. I liked the decor in the lobby. Once we got to the room, it was clean, but could have been cleaner. Carpet looked very dirty right by door. I realize it's a high traffic area,but a quick shampoo would probably do the trick. Beds were comfortable, Shower could have been a little cleaner too. But there were plenty of towels for my family and I. Overall not a bad experience. This place has a hip vibe which is refreshing compared to some more stuffy hotels, and their concept for breakfast is really cool. And then there are beds.... oh my god the beds. I don't know what it is, because I've heard the beds with this chain are decent. The one I slept on at the Bolingbrook Aloft was abysmal... springy yet rock hard at the same time. I felt like I was going to bounce off the bed every time I turned. The pillows have no support. My shoulders and back are sore I got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night, which is nowhere near enough especially since I had to come down here on a family emergency. Marriotts are known for their comfortable beds, I should know.. I worked for a Marriott property before. But this was not good. At least the room was clean; as a former housekeeper I always double check. Edit: the WiFi is impossible to connect to. I had to reset my networks (iPhone), twice, hard reset my phone (twice) and anytime it tried to take you to the login page it froze/timed out. read more

Did I enjoy my stay? Yep. Did Aloft blow me away? No. Would I stay here again? Not sure. Normally when I come to Chicago I stay at the Sheraton by Ohare. As a Starwood guest, I usually get upgraded, and enjoy my free breakfast and snacks in the evening. Aloft, no free anything. Oh well. The bed was not as comfortable as I would like, and the rooms are a bit on the small side. The 4:00am fire alarm wake up call (not the hotels fault), but after I woke up, I could not go back to sleep, as I could not get comfortable on the bed. As I type this at 3am, I am listening to the AC rev itself up. It's not quite as loud as say, a lawnmower, but it is blasting the room with icy air. I would turn it off, but it's 90 degrees outside. Have you ever seen a perfectly square pillow masquerading as one you'd actually like to sleep on? They have them here. They're cute. Look like giant marshmallows. They make the bed look extra big, but when squished over your ears, they do nothing to muffle the sound of the AC unit. Don't plug the charming retro clock on the bedside table back in! The previous guest unplugged it because the alarm goes off at random intervals. I guess they preferred to only be woken up on and off by the AC unit. Was this a Motel 6 in a prior incarnation? The lipstick doesn't flatter this particular pig. Stay elsewhere. read more

Great modern hotel. The wxyz bar has a nice selection of drinks, however, it was to expensive for my blood when ther was a binnys liquor store across the street. The bed was a platform bed and was very comfortable. The shower was modern and clean. This was one of the more cleaner hotels I have ever stayed in. Our room was bed bug free! The room was $95 for one night for a wedding event and I'm sure a discount for block rooms but was worth the stay and would stay aging. Very close to shopping and could have stayed just for that! read more

Way too disappointed! My husband and I generally like aloft and we we have been SPG member for years. However, it got changed the first day to checked in here. Every single late night, they allow groups of guests to have party, like drunk crazy screaming party in the court yard. When we ask front desk to help ( 2:30 am in the morning) they said they already asked the ppl to leave, but they have multiple events going on! GUESS WHAT, there is no sign of leaving , however continues loud music, ppl screaming .... As we have been experiencing this disturbing noise from first day we checked in(and really can't just rest)we asked if it is possible to switch to room that sit opposite side of the courtyard so that we can get some sleep. And then, of course, they said it is all sold out. No quiet hour concept at all and no help to enforce or respect other residents' quiet hour. They just want to make money by allowing multiple parties in mid night (12am to 4am) EVERY SINGLE night!!! DON'T come here if you desire a place like other Aloft, or hotel with respect to customer with quiet hours. Because you won't be able to get any rest ! We really had a horrible experience here and will never come back! read more

This place was disgusting. There was what appears to be seamen on the floor of our shower when we entered the room. Our friends room the bathroom door was broken. Inside the lobby the floors are covered in dirt and debris. The lobby couches are covered in stains. To add to the "ambiance" they are playing 120 bpm EDM music in the lobby at 830 am. read more

3.5 years ago we had our wedding party stay at this hotel. It was cool and super modern looking. The pictures on the website were really spot on and our guests all loved the hotel. We stayed there again a few days ago and the everything just seemed tired. The lobby still looks on point so kudos for that. The problem was the rooms. We were taken to our room and immediately it smelled very musty. That was just the start: -The bathroom ceiling had really bad water damage. -The desk lamp shade was cracked and crumbling leaving glass shards all over the desk -The blinds were curling and the edges (not that big of deal normally but our window looked out to the hallway elevators so everyone getting off the elevators could see into our room. It was bizarre) -the headboard was greasy and the material was chipping away. Looked disgusting. We requested a change of rooms. Someone brought new keys up and we had to find the new room. The second room was better but the headboard was still chipping away. (It was made of the same vinyl that booths at Denny's are made out of). Moral of the story is it still looks nice at the lobby but we will probably not be staying there again which sucks because it was really nice strolling down memory lane from our wedding. read more

We're parents of the bride arranging for members of the wedding party to stay at the Aloft Bolingbrook as recommended by the wedding venue. As such we made reservations for and paid for a number of rooms. Check-in was 3:00 pm and they said they could provide a room by noon based on availability. Yet we arrived at 4:30 pm and our room was unavailable, however the rooms of other members of the wedding party were available. So we got ready in the available rooms. We returned from the wedding at approximately 12:30 am and finally received our room. We then experienced the probable reason that the wedding venue recommended this hotel, a full lobby bar, and competed with the multiple numbers of wedding parties staying at the hotel (we counted four brides and their many guests). By 2 am, our wedding festivities ended and we retreated to our room. That's when the hotel surprise continued. We arranged for a room with two queen beds albeit one was extraordinary uncomfortable. Looking further, the mattress/box spring was actually upside down (the box spring side was facing up) and the bed was stained and soaking wet. Heading back to the lobby we found the desk clerk preoccupied/unavailable as they were dealing with other wedding party issues. Ultimately after waiting for an extended period of time with no sign of any near term assistance, I retreated to my room again with one of two beds available for use. Come morning and daylight, we were further disturbed to find ants crawling over the desk top. And the ultimate must have amenity, the hands on the bedside clock ran in reverse. At check-out we explained our hotel experience and the desk clerk said we should expect a call from the assistant general manager....we never received any call. The desk clerk made sure she had the correct phone number to reach me. Perhaps if the room had been available as originally committed, the hotel might have had the time and resources to clean the room or possibly find another. As the discovery was made well into the morning, the hotel was ill prepared to do anything about this. But seriously how does a mattress get soaking wet, get turned over and no one from housekeeping notices? The Aloft Bolingbrook at best is a wedding party meat market. The lobby bar was full of too many competing wedding parties and the hotel was not prepared to offer minimal service. At your wedding you hope not to experience distractions to your special event however our experience with this hotel started poorly and continued to worsen. Stay at your own risk. This hotel promotes chic, however this is really a facility with abundance of cheap. Every fixture and component used to construct this facility is incredibly cheap. Even the towels are a rough sand paper texture. There are far nicer and competitively priced hotels in the area and I'd recommend another. I can't suggest that all Aloft hotels are as poorly run as this one, but I'll never take the chance staying at another. read more

Cute hotel! Cookies, hot chocolate when you walk in. Bagged ice given at front desk due to Covid restrictions. Small pool takes reservations but had many openings. Small bar was popular and staff asked if we wanted a room on upper level due to noise. Rooms were nice and we stayed in double queen. Bath was nice with large shower. Mini fridge was large enough for leftovers and bottled water. Staff helped us navigate area and gave tips on dining. Nice short stay and would recommend. read more

The rooms are stylish but the hotel is incredibly loud. You can hear everything in the hall and hotel at all times of the night from your bed in the room. My main issue was with the team at Aloft billing and charging my credit card on file without authorization 3 days after my stay for an issue on their end. The customer service response took a few calls and a quite a few days to get someone on the phone. The issue is still not resolved. stay anywhere else. read more
