Indoor / outdoor dining, as with most Spanish tapas bars. Located adjacent to the Plaza del Punto in Huelva.
We were in Huelva on a Sunday evening, and many other restaurants were closed, or serving very limited menus, so we were lucky and grateful to find Los Tientos.
Our server was extremely friendly, and answered all our questions, and gave us recommendations from the menu. They had specials too, but this time we stuck with the standard offerings.
4 tapas were under 25€, which was a very good value for their quality. All of the food was prepared with beautiful presentation.
The cheese round with carmelized onions, orange marmalade, and raspberry with raisins, was extremely good. The server confirmed it was goat cheese (not specified on the menu). The cheese round was crispy but soft, not dried out.
The eggplant sticks were the one disappointing dish. We had had eggplant-based tapas at a number of restaurants in Spain, and it was always very flavorful and well-executed. These battered, fried, sticks of eggplant were pretty flavorless, and while the honey and balsamic sauces helped, they were only just to mask the fact that the meat of the dish itself was extremely bland and unappetizing. Very let down by this one.
My husband had the Hake gratin with garlic mayo and tomato marmelade. He was surprised at how the mild whitefish taste allowed the herbs to give it so much flavor. He said it was cooked very nicely, with a tender but flakey texture.
My absolute favorite was the Salmorejo, a tomato soup exploding with flavor. The tomato, of course, had a very robust, perfect flavor, mixed with a lot of herb emphasis, and just made a delicious soup. I could have ordered two more servings, and I am craving it now as I write this, it was just that good! Even the egg garnish added to the overall taste.
Overall, it was a very good meal, and we were pleased with stumbling upon this place in Huelva, on our way to Portugal.
