Found this spot when my first choice was packed and had an hour wait. It's right in the Roma norte area so surrounded by many options but I'm so glad we stopped in.
From being welcome in and sat, service was impeccable and staff were friendly and worked with our minimal Spanish and most spoke great English. We were provided English menus along with some recommendations. We ended up getting a few dishes to share. We were provided brioche and an amuse buche of a fish soup, both of which were great. My favorite dish was the Kampachi Tostada and I would eat 10 more of those. It had a wonderfully flavorful salsa macha with nice tender kampachi on a crunchy but not hard tostada. The salsas they provided also went really well with it (as a bit of a spice head, I went ahead and put quite a bit of their spiciest salsa). The rest of the meal was also great, we got the duck confit molotes, beef barbacoa, and eggplant puree. The flavor and texture or the duck confit molotes was really great, my only fault was it had a tad too much sweetness for my personal tastes but it was balanced very well with their earthy black salsa (I forgot what it was). The barbacoa was unwrapped and mixed table side and our server made us tacos with it, with a heated stone keeping the tortillas warm and crisp. The eggplant puree is extremely creamy and rich, I have no clue how eggplant gets that texture but it was a surprise.
Drink wise, I got the recuerdo which is a whisky based drink that came with a baby corn. I really enjoyed it, though a sweeter whisky drink than I was expecting. My partner got their recommended desamor and it was a very nice, refreshing, fruity drink.
We ended our meal with a dessert, even though I was so full. The fondant de pistache con matcha was just too hard to pass on. The dessert had a perfect subtle sweetness with a slight bitterness from the matcha and some nice textural contrast with a cold chocolate cream and crunchy mix.
Between the food, drinks, dessert, ambiance, and service, I'd def come back and recommend folks to come check it out. There's a duck confit calling my name for next time but sadly, my stomach can only fit so much at once. read more
