Taco flight

What a pleasant surprise, we stopped to use the Tesla chargers nearby, and we stumbled into this food court. We love the fact that they were able to execute traditional Mexican cuisine with a vegan twist to it. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced would highly recommend and we'll make it a point to her again.

Alma Y Sazon opened recently in Minnie Bell's Soul Movement's vacated space. Plenty of parking in lot on Sunday even with a farmers market occurring. The food hall has had more vacancies lately. Plenty of seating inside. Offerings (vegan Mexican): tacos, tortas, snacks.. Service a little slow as cashier is doubling as a fry cook. Bites: Al pastor taco (5) -2 grilled mini corn tortillas encapsulated marinated tofu & jackfruit pieces. Bland it was, overwhelmed by the roasted salsa verde's (onions. tomatotillo, garlic, cilantro, jalepenos) spiciness. -garnished with pineapple bits. Lime squeeze.. Mushroom "carnitas" taco (4.75) -garnished with radish slice, white onion bits, lime squeezes, salsa verde. Flavas nuanced. Not spicy. -a few oyster mushroom strands was the "carnitas" Fillings may have been reheated on grill, subsequently filled grilled street taco tortillas. 3.5 stars semi-worthy: YMMV, quality: disjointed. Quantity: smallish-YMMV. Doubtful repeat.

This place is so friendly -- everyone has great attitudes, smiles & service! I walked in on a relatively mellow day but the energy is still upbeat & helpful. This is my first time in this market & so I went through all the menu offerings & decided this was the best. I did not realize right away that it was vegan, but it was a major bonus!! Now I can feel good about my ethical choices & not have to settle for less than amazing food. I ordered 2 tacos, one tinga & carnitas taco with a Jamaica + Limon drink. The way I enjoyed this meal... I need more but I also need to fit into my PRIDE outfit for tomorrow I did over hear someone come up to the counter (as I read the menu) to compliment the food as a non-vegan eater who wasn't expecting his meal to be so delicious! I found that so sweet! The POZOLE & TOSTADA are next on my hit list & I'm very much looking forward to coming back. The seating was easy, right in front and the parking in the lot (A) is free for 120m. What a lovely group of folx they have working here! Would recommend for all.

Who knew hibiscus asada was this good? Located in The Public Market, Alma Y Sazón is quickly becoming one of my favorite vegan spots in the East Bay. My sister and I found the quaintly decorated restaurant on a Sunday evening and tried the Tostada de Tinga and Tostada Ranchera. The Tostada de Tinga was very sweet! The jackfruit tinga gave it an almost mashed sweet potato flavor/texture? It was a good contrast to the tostada and veggie crunch, but there could have been more depth of texture for me personally. 3.5/5 The Tostada Ranchera was deliiiiicious. Wow the hibiscus flower asada was an unexpected favorite of mine! Kind of like a jerky texture, but it really complemented the refried beans and crunchy veggie and tostada textures. And it tasted like MEAT! 5/5 I think about her!!! The employee at the register was also friendly, but the food did take a while to arrive (20 min?). Luckily, their storefront is right next to the pool table, so my sister and I passed the time fairly quickly. (: Nothing to speak of regarding ambiance. There's no restaurant-specific seating, but plenty of public seating around! Overall, would go again... dying to try more of their food!

I found this place on TikTok and decided to give it a chance. It's in a food market so there's a lot of parking across the street. There was a good amount of options. I got a torta and a drink. It's a vegan restaurant prices are okay. There is seating all over the place. The service was really good the person who helped me took her time to explain the menu. You get a buzzer a that way you know when your food is ready. The torta was delicious and not greasy how meat is. It is very filling and the drink was just as good. This place definitely exceeded all my expectations highly recommend!!!

The food is delicious!! Omg the tofu taco and fried mushrooms were amazing!! The avocado and cilantro sauce elevated it to new heights! The service was great and it's always nice to try new places in the public market! It is exciting to see what new offerings are there.

It's about time the Public Market got a 100% vegan spot--what took so long? I had no idea this gem even existed, but I'm so glad I found it. The vibe is incredibly welcoming, and the chef? Not only does she create delicious food, she's also a talented artist--be sure to ask about her drawings! As for the food, the jackfruit taco was a standout, and the pineapple salsa added a perfect touch of freshness. The only downside was the deep-fried chicharrón--it was a bit too oily for our taste, and we didn't end up finishing it. That said, I would absolutely recommend checking this place out. It's run by a passionate and creative couple, and they're doing something truly special. Go support them--and go vegan!

Cheff Paula nailed it! it eas like eating a torta de Guadalajara (childhood city) and her husband Xavi made us feel so happy

Stopped in the Public Market and was so excited to see a vegan spot! My food was perfect! I got the taquitos and a Al pastor taco. Each thing was flavored deliciously. I can't wait to come back!

Sopesitos De Rajas Poblanas

Update: wow!! went back to try the tacos, flautas and sopesitos. Is this my new favorite place???!! Everything is so fresh and yummy. No flour tortillas. Corn only. It's legit! I can't wait to go back and bring friends. This time service was much faster, too. Prev review: I only tried the torta (with tofu) and it was great. Good blend of different ingredients. I'm looking forward to going back to try other things.

The food is delicious! I'm trying my best to eat vegan as much as possible and this place made me feel like I wasn't missing out on anything. Delicious!

I love love loveeee Alma y Sazón! I have had every single thing on the menu and everything is equally delicious but I would be lying if I didn't saying the tacos "de mar" weren't my favorite. I tell everyone I know, you wouldn't even know it's vegan! Please do your self a favor and go enjoy some GOOOOD ass food. Thank you Lola, Xavi & Fer. I can taste all the love in every bite!!!

The food was fantastic and they just opened a week ago. The owners were very friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more new menu items. Love having more vegan options in the East Bay. Stop by and show them some love!

We tried a variety of tacos, and everything was fresh and full of bold flavors. The standout for me was definitely the beef options and the sauces really take everything to the next level. You can tell they put a lot of thought into every component. Even the veggie tacos are incredible, not just an afterthought. Everything feels creative but still comforting at the same time. Portions are satisfying without feeling too heavy. Service was quick and friendly, and the whole experience felt easy and enjoyable. It's the kind of place you want to keep coming back to because the menu changes and there's always something new to try. Highly recommend if you're in Oakland and craving elevated tacos done right!

Tostada beans gigante, the pork shoulder, barbacoa, charred broccoli, mushroom, and chicken tinga. Just a lil lime on top, and enjoy! I didn't even need to add more salsa, which I would usually add to my tacos at other places. Tostada vegan was my fave. All the meat tacos were also fantastic, all were tender and juicy. Your taste buds bout to be blown away. They have patio style seating in the front and the back. cute for a lil date night without breaking the bank, or to go out and entertain friends outta town, or just to treat yo'self real good. so happy.

I'd thought the place had lost its touch, but maybe it was just an off day. Today in May of 2026 I've managed to visit while it's a slow day, and I was pleasantly satisfied with my food. I ordered a Carnitas burrito, and it was just as delicious as I'd remembered it one decade ago. While I was eating the first half of my burrito I was thinking "this is good, but burritos are good.. is it better than other burritos I've had, and why?" Something is different about burritos at Tacos Sinaloa, the food reflects that of some regional tacos trucks scattered throughout the East bay, but they're very distinct in how well they're capable of doing this style of Mexican food. As I said earlier- burritos are good. I think they are good because everything tastes good together, but not all burritos are created equal. The first thing that stood out to me about my burrito was the tortilla. It's not your standard tortilla, and it's nothing extravagant, but it seemed intentional. The tortilla is softer, thinner, and it holds up, but it's not chewy. It's there and it soaks up the oils and it doesn't take away from anything. In my experience, a bad tortilla can make a burrito less enjoyable. This tortilla adds in that it's barely there and it's pleasant because it soaks up the flavors without detracting. On the insides, the beans and rice can give or take away depending on where you get your burrito from. At Tacos Sinaloa on this particular day, the beans and rice did not take away from the burrito. The pinto beans were plum and creamy, and tasted like pintos. No nonsense- they added because they didn't subtract, I could go on about grainy beans or starchy over seasoned bean liquid, but NONE OF THAT HERE. The rice had perfect texture. It almost like 'al dente', but not in a chewy way, it had just enough rice texture and didn't get in the way of the other ingredients. It was mildly seasoned with your classic Mexican rice (aromatic tomato broth like flavor). No nonsense, no unnecessary spices, not over saturated in liquid, or turned to mush. Just good simply season rice. Cheese and sour cream- Salty Mexican cheese, presumably Oaxaca or something similar. Adds little salty flavor explosions throughout the burrito. Sour cream, added tangy acidity that cuts through the fatty ness making it taste more lively. Of coarse, the lovely creaminess. If you're not having your burrito with these I'm very sorry for you. The star of the show- The Carnitas here is just done right. It's not over seasoned with anything, it just tastes like melty delicious braised pork shoulder, then fried to accentuate it with crispy mallard bits that surprise you throughout the burrito. Towards the end of my experience I came to the conclusion that what makes a Tacos Sinaloa burrito good is that its ingredients forward- each ingredient tastes good on its own, and that can't be said for all burritos. It's not a burrito for the sake of being a burrito. All the ingredients seem intentionally chosen so that none get in the way of one another. I want to say they make the meat the star of the show, but even if you were to have a bean and rice and cheese + sour crème burrito here it would be an exceptional burrito, which is a testament to their culinary philosophy. Last but not least- yes they have salsa, and of coarse it's good, and I love that they give lemon slices with your food - it's another small intentional detail that they offer lemon instead of lime. Carnitas burrito 5/5. Sinaloa overall 4/5 because of inconsistency.

The place was full of UC students, and the college town atmosphere was alive. I wanted to order a super burrito, but the sweet lady taking my order suggested a regular one would be enough. The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I also tried the beans, which were full of flavor. Overall, this restaurant really stood out in my memory, and I definitely want to return someday to try more moles.

Given that background, what arrived at my door was honestly shocking. The burrito was cold, greasy, bizarrely thick and lumpy, and filled with some of the lowest-quality meat I've ever been served by a restaurant. Multiple bites literally had to be spit out. On top of that, the advertised ingredients (sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole) were completely missing. What arrived was basically a dense tube of cheap rice and rubbery meat. At first I assumed this must have been a one-off disaster. Then I started reading the Yelp reviews. And suddenly a pattern emerged: stale chips, stale tacos, food making people sick, delivery orders arriving wrong or poorly made, hostile service interactions, customers being spoken to aggressively, and an overall sense that quality control has completely collapsed. One reviewer even described an employee asking if they "wanted to fight." Another described disputing charges over incorrect orders because the food quality was so poor. What makes this especially disappointing is that the restaurant presents itself as a serious modern Bay Area Mexican concept tied to an admired culinary name. Instead, the actual execution feels careless, inconsistent, and deeply below the standards the restaurant markets itself on. Restaurants can survive a bad night. What they cannot survive is the perception that nobody cares anymore. Right now, that is exactly the impression Todos Cantina gives off. Frankly, this is an embarrassment to the legacy and reputation associated with the Martinez name. I truly hope someone steps in and turns this place around, because based on my experience (and many others here) things have gone badly off the rails.
