Middle finger peeling off the day of the manicure. You can see bubbles on the polish of the other nails.
Erin D.

I wanted to love this place. I came in around 11am on 10/13/21 to receive a basic gel manicure. The reviews I read prior to walking in were great. I am the LEAST picky person when it comes to my nails... I get them done every once in awhile when I feel like treating myself... I never usually have issues, but this time I did. The gentleman who did my nails was not friendly. The utensils he used marked "cleaned" were visibly dirty. He rushed through the whole process.. I was in and out in about 30 mins which might seem great, but he did a terrible job and clearly did not take his time. My nails have bubbles in them from not being dried properly due to him rushing and two of them have already started peeling off on the second day??? See pictures. I got them done prior to a trip I am taking this weekend and I don't have the time to go back in and get them fixed. I am not pleased with this manicure job at all and I will not be returning. Definitely overpriced for the service I received.

Bumpy , uneven paint just horrible for 130$

What I wanted verses what I got , 130$ and 3 hours later I'm pissed He told me he could do it and it's not even close what am I suppose to do with these ? Go spend more money somewhere else to have them fix this disaster

JAY's Nails
Lexi G.

The only reason Id give the salon five stars is because of Jay and his wife. He is the best nail tech in Charleston and his wife is also amazing at nails and they just moved over to the salon. I am relieved that Jay makes his own appointments at the salon because I will not be calling them directly anymore-- Not only because the receptionist made me feel as though I was inconveniencing her when I called requesting to make an appointment. I must caveat this review by adding that rarely do I make reviews unless the service/experience was so extraordinary or incredibly terrible. At best, the other staff members nail skills and customer service is lacking. When I told the other nail tech that I was not happy with my gel pedicure, I immediately became the new Vietnamese laughingstock. I say Vietnamese laughingstock because I was no longer spoken to in English when I mentioned my toes were smudged, uneven and the gel was already peeling off. That made me feel very uncomfortable. At one point I was ganged up on by multiple technicians who were asking me what's wrong after I clearly told the manager (I think that's who she was). At best my toenails still look sloppy. I was also charged full price on the pedicure after the traumatizing experience. As a consistent and frequent nail salon goer, I will be continuing to use Jay and his wife as the only nail techs that I trust and are professional, but I can only hope that they switch to a different salon.

I walked in and asked for a dip manicure with this design (it has their name on it) She said sure and sat me at a station. I showed the picture and asked the guy if he could do it and he said no problem. I had all my nails done and suddenly got an important phone call, while he was doing the design on one finger. I wasn't paying attention and this is what I got. I went back and asked for it to be fixed & a refund on the manicure bc my cuticles were never clipped, nails never trimmed, no hand massage and my nails looked nothing like their picture. I was told that the dip manicure is $52 that includes NOTHING but the powder itself just FYI. No hand treatment despite the word manicure in the service title. Do not recommend.

Cracked dip manicure three days after service.

I've written raving reviews about this place in the past, but I've been a little disappointed as of late with my last couple visits. I consistently get dip manicures and the last two visits my dip manicure has cracked. The first time to the point of me going back just two days later because every single nail was cracked. This time it's three days after I got it done and it's just one nail. This nail is on my non dominant hand and doesn't see a lot of impact. Also, as I stated, it's only been three days. It's upsetting because this used to be my favorite nail place, but with consistent issues after spending a lot of money for this service, I'm forced to find another place where the manicures actually last for the money spent.

I've been hopping around nail salons lately trying to find the perfect one in West Ashley. I think I first heard of this place via Yelp. I checked out their Facebook page, but there wasn't much to see. I decided to give it a try. It's conveniently located in the Whole Foods plaza. Inside is beautifully decorated with the manicure stations at the front, pedicure stations in the back, and a sink in the middle. The walls in the front are lined with mirrors. The menu is listed on a few in the front, which is neat. There are TVs throughout. It's clean. There is a really strong chemical smell. It hit me in the face as soon as I walked in. I would suggest a better ventilation system. I was offered a drink as soon as I was seated. My nail tech was nice. We chatted a little bit not too much. She took her time with my fill in and polish. They have a nice selection of gel colors--they even have OPI gels, which it seems like a lot of places don't carry anymore. The prices are comparable to other places in the area. They offer a rewards system where you earn points for each service, which convert to a discount on a future visit.

Polished shiny like glass!

Sitting here waiting for my toes to dry and decided to write this well deserved review. It's my first visit and to say that I'm quite pleased would be an understatement. This literally has to be the first nail salon I've been to in Charleston that did both my pedicure and nails (fill) at the same time. Sounds trivial I know, but hey it's Charleston and I've learned to count my victories no matter how small. Plus, I didn't have to drive downtown or North Charleston which is another win. As for the quality of work, my toes/nails look great! The salon was extremely clean: no chemical smells or odors, no nail dust, even the music was universally good. The prices were reasonable, the customer service was good and the icing on the cake was that I didn't have to spend 2-3 hours sitting in a nail salon. Fingers crossed my next visit will be just as good.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS NAIL SALON! I have been to many nail salons in the area but this place is now my holy grail. They do AMAZING work! Both times I've gone I've had different technicians but both of them knew exactly what they were doing! They sanitize between customers, have dividers between themselves and you. They offer you a beverage and they're so friendly. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

1 week after dip manicure.
Meaghan W.

While the nail technician was very friendly and did a seemingly decent job on my dip manicure. ONE WHOLE WEEK and $90(charge +Tip) later, my nails are chipping and the matte top coat is coming off on every nail. Would not recommend a dip manicure here, might as well just get regular polish since they're dip doesn't last.

Fantastic service! They took me in late and my nails look so good. Great music and even got a Valentines Day discount. Recommend! Thank you Emmy

RACHEL IS A GENIUS!!!! First of all, I live in Austin, TX. My son was getting married in…read moreCharleston, and I hadn't been to a salon since the beginning of the pandemic. I made an appointment with Rachel for hair and makeup on Saturday, the day of the wedding, as well as an appointment for the prior Wednesday because I desperately needed a haircut as well as color. I was pretty nervous, as this was a leap of faith that I'm not used to taking. I explained the situation to Rachel, and she immediately put me at ease. We discussed the style (up-do) that I wanted for the wedding, as she assessed what would be the best course to get the results that I wanted. I had been coloring my own hair and it needed a serious amount of correction. She took a few "before" pics and then she got started. She began by blunt cutting the dead ends off, and removing some of the length, about 4 inches give or take. She began a very long correction and coloring process that lifted some of the awful color that I had ended up with and blended several beautiful colors in a balayage process. She then proceeded with a real haircut, and style. The total process took a fair amount of time, and I was in a hurry to get to the hotel and meet up with my sister, so I rushed out, and hurried through a few pictures that her assistant wanted to take. She showed them to me, and I asked to see the "befores". OMG!! The change was nothing short of epic! She hadn't changed the color in a drastic way, but the layering of beautiful tones as well as the best haircut I've had in many years was simply amazing. The confidence she gave me as I started a four day wedding weekend with people I had yet to meet was off the charts, and meant more to me than she could possibly know. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to afford flying to Charleston every six weeks or so because I don't want anyone else touching my hair! Oh, did I mention that on Saturday my up-do and makeup were everything I had hoped for and then some? Don't hesitate. Treat yourself to a little pampering at Pinkhouse. You'll feel amazing!

I have primarily used sugaring for my hair removal services because I have found it more comfortable to go through when compared to the use of hot wax. I have stayed with Christina for so many years because she is so attentive during the sessions, as well as very thorough. I have seen her grow her studio from a tiny space with few retail offerings to a larger spa-like atmosphere offering a variety of services in addition to just sugaring. The studio is exceptionally clean, and Christina has always been very conscious of this aspect, particularly around the pandemic restrictions we all operated under for several years. Christina and her staff are very present to clients and strive to offer extras - flavored waters, hot teas, cups of snacks, soft lighting and music - that make each visit seem like a small spa escape. They make sure clients are aware of recommendations for post-sugaring care and offer products from their own stock for purchase. All the products carried at the studio are high quality, all natural products that Christina and her staff have used and can confidently recommend. All of these things are "value adds" to the overall experience.
