This place has amazing brunch and even more amazing people. We came here bright and early, at noon, and were incredibly welcomed by all the wait staff. They all had the hippest, woke up like this, outfits and were incredibly happy every time we talked to them. I just had to point this out because my interactions at other places in town were not as great the rest of that day. Y'all give me hope in nyc people. The food: Biscuits, ricotta + honey were amazingggg. Everyone ate all the scraps. I ordered the egg sandwich with sausage which surprisingly very filling. We walked in and confirm with the server if the sandwich and tecate special was on during happy hour at 4:50 pm on a tuesday. She said yes. But we neglected to double confirm the price since we just saw it on a website . We ordered two of the specials expecting a20$ plus tax The bill came as 40.38 including tax (as attached) i called the server and asked he said that is already the happy hour special. We paid and left. I thought maybe I was mistaken. I opened the web site and took a screen shot. I was not mistaken. I also checked the Yelp but there i saw the same special listed as 13$ which is still much lower than what we paid. Also since confirmed at the beginning we did not look at the menu or the specials Board to be honest. It turns out we should have. Found this place when walking around Brooklyn looking for a hearty meal, and we definitely found what we were looking for. Kind of confusing to get a table at first because the waiters dressed like everyone else but since there seemed to be only two of them, it wasn't difficult afterwards to recognize them. Pretty full menu with a variety of options, ended up trying the crispy chicken sandwich (around $20) with a side of fries and WOW I was shocked by the portion size. The mountain of thick fries and two huge pieces of chicken were more than enough for a single person. The chicken was more greasy than I would have liked, with the batter being more soft than crispy which I actually prefer since it's more compressible, very important for an already huge sandwich. The bun came with way too many sesame seeds I remember the table being sprinkled generously with it throughout our meal. Definitely a meal that overstuffed us and left us feeling not the healthiest, but if you're looking for a big eat here is your place. Flight was canceled back to Los Angeles and a friend recommended this place to try out for their chicken sandwiches. Took a short subway ride over and was surprised by the chill atmosphere. Williamsburg sure has changed but it seems super busy. A bustling little area right here in Brooklyn? Very nice. Place is clean and spacious, the air conditioning was definitely welcome in this humid summer. Damion was our greeter and server. Super nice guy. We started off with drinks and a holy mountain from the drink menu which was absolutely delicious and an instant cool down. So good I had to order another. Meals didn't take long to come out. Split a burger between our youngest boys which they demolished. You think they'd pass on a grownup style burger but it was gone. Our youngest had the grilled cheese which was huge so we had a chance to taste and wow. The toasty buttery bread along with all that cheese and the tomato was fantastic. So we came for the chicken sandwiches and they were HUGE. Served on an impeccable bun and in house Mayo on the side, just the right amount of heat if you order spicy but let's get to the hidden gem of this place. The FRIES. I Haven't looked at any of the other reviews yet as I was just told to come try the sandwich but oh MY those FRIES are absolutely insane. You'd think they were just normal fresh cut fries just by looking at them but the flavor is absolutely off the charts. Possibly some of the best fries you'll taste in your life. Sorry All is not well - 4 friends and I went for brunch on a very rainy day - the host wanted to sit us with another party of 5 in the same table where everyone was already knocking elbows with each other. They had plenty of other open tables that they refused to offer and then suggested for us to sit outside in the pouring rain. This is the Northside of Brooklyn there there are many restaurants that will accommodate you so we left and ate at the other corner at The Bedford which accommodated us with no issue and the food was delicious so I guess I should be saying thank you to the non accommodating host. smh read more

Allswell made a good impression, at first. We had put down our names at Sweet Chick (for a party of 3, at 11am, on one of the first beautiful Saturdays of the year - what were we thinking??!). While Sweet Chick's space looked like a mess of blonde girls mapping every facet of their lives against an issue of Kinfolk, Allswell just a few blocks away was dimmer, quieter. It was full, too, but the friendly host texted us that a table was available after just 15 minutes. The food was uninspiring. I am not one to pay $12 for avocado toast, but a slew of nicely lit Instagram photos put me in a temporary spell. Eating Allswell's version brought me right back to reality. It was fine, the radicchio was charred nicely - but overall it was bland and soggy and just not very GOOD. My friends got an egg sandwich and a smoked salmon benedict, both of which looked ho-hum. The food took ages to come out, despite some tables being empty by the time our orders were taken. I wouldn't come back. But I acknowledge that the brunch scene in these most gentrified, most vanilla parts of Williamsburg is basically this generation's version of a warzone. This place is laughable. I paid 18 dollars for eggs Benedict with avocado that had no side. They don't have potatoes. The server did not make eye contact and ignored us. I can say the same about the behavior of most, specifically the host that greeted us. He was just not friendly. A small, cozy place right in the thick of things on Bedford. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and they don't have it jam packed with seating so you'll have enough space to yourself/party. The service is great. Our waitress was quick with the things we needed yet gave us our space while we were eating. I gave it 4 stars because the menu is lacking. While I'm sure everything on there is great (the two things I tried were) it was just missing something. They have appetizers, 2-3 plates to choose from, and then burgers. But let me tell you, the burgers are scrumptious! I had the pioneer burger and the person I was with had the Cali burger. Both were yummy. If I had to be picky, I'd say they charred the buns a little too much. Side note: I ordered mine medium rare and the other one medium well and they put the wrong burger on the wrong setup so watch out for this! Overall it was a great experience and I recommend! It was a freezing night in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and I had just gotten off the train, I was headed for a half mile walk to my girlfriends apartment. I was running a little bit early and she wasn't home from work yet, and I needed to stop somewhere for warmth. I needed a warm, cozy place where I could regain feeling in my toes. I was walking on Bedford Ave and saw AllsWell and I liked the positive name/message so I walked right in. I was greeted right away by an Irish server who was kind and welcomed me to the very back of the restaurant, farthest away from the door and the cold. I told him I wanted something warm and asked for the tea list. I went with the coco chai because it sounded warm and cozy. I stayed there, by myself for about 20 minutes enjoying my tea, he came by a few times to see how I was doing and see if I wanted anything else, but after a while he knew that I was just trying to get warm. It was a fun environment, not too busy with a good menu. Lots of variety. I also enjoyed listening to the conversations around me, especially one hilarious story after another from some guy sitting at the bar. Some people love people watching, I love people listening. Everyone carried a very cool vibe. I would imagine this place would be fun for after work drinks with friends, and maybe even dinner! For fellow Manhattan folk, it's worth the trip to Williamsburg and take advantage of the L while you can! I came for brunch on the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend with family; it wasn't very busy when I first arrived but probably ~20min later it was buzzing. The interior reminded me of the Hobbit (even though I've never actually seen the movie) - victorian, old-fashioned yet modern and refreshing. Plants hang from the ceiling. A nice homey, casual feel. I believe this spot is perfect for any sort of situation: friends, dates, or family. On the menu you can choose from apps, breakfast / brunch items, or burgers. If there are two things you MUST try here: (1) Biscuit & Ricotta. Perfectly golden, and warm and the right balance of melt and your mouth while not breaking into crumbs with ricotta cheese and honey drizzled on it... (2) the sausage - I ordered the two eggs any style which comes with eggs, choice of protein, toast and jam. I've never had a breakfast sausage this good. Ever. It was juicy and ~different like slightly sweet. Amazing! The Crispy Chicken burger and Eggs Benedict were also superb. The burger also came with thick cut crispy fries (and mayo! Yes!). This place is super cute and I've been wanting to drop by for a while. The inside is small and little cozy. I loved the decor and the staff were all really friendly. It's a really great first or early in the game date spot for sure. I came here for Sunday brunch at around noon with a friend. We didn't have a reservation but were pleased to learn there was only a 20 minute wait. We opted to sit at the bar and the barstaff were super nice. We each had a drink to start. I had the Sangre Del Toro ($12) which was basically a play on a Bloody Maria. I expected it to be super spicy as it's made with the house habanero bloody mix, but it was actually pretty mild. My friend had the Tequila Punch ($10). It was pretty sweet but delicious and is definitely the kind of thing I'd try to recreate at home. For our mains I got the Cali Burger ($19) and added Fried Egg ($2) It was so good! All the ingredients tasted really fresh and it was really filling. My friend got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($17) which was really yummy and recommended to us by the bartender. Both came with a side of fries. Super cute spot! I'll definitely be back! read more

It was a Sunday morning so a long wait was to be expected pretty much anywhere in Williamsburg. We arrived as a party of 5 without reservations and had to wait about an hour and a half to get a table. There is a cafe just down the street which was perfect for sipping coffee as we waited for the text message letting us know that our table was ready. It was definitely worth the wait! We tried most of the cocktails that morning and all of them were absolutely delicious. I was lucky enough to try bites of the juevos rancheros, the breakfast sandwich, and the Benedict- they were all amazing. The house-made English muffins are lovely. I was impressed by both the food and drink, as well as the friendly staff. The reason I gave 4/5 stars is due to the length of time between ordering and receiving drinks and food. read more

I felt robbed. They run out of Benedict eggs. Really? On Sunday?? The avocado toast (12) was kind of good but super pricey and small. My bfriend had an "egg sandwich": a fryed egg in a bun. That was all, half of the ingredients were missing, no avocado, no English muffin (it was all in the menu as part of the plate), nothing, just the egg, lettuce and the bun. The latte was also minimal for the price of 4.5 and they didn't have skimmed milk, but their almond milk was Good. The lemonade tasted like artificial and super sour and sweet. The vibe in general was good, but there was something missing, and the price (47 usd) was way too high for what we got. I had no idea what to expect, but after trying all of the appetizers, a variety of entrées ,and a full selection of desserts I was delighted . Service: A little disjointed, 2 servers for the restaurant. It wasn't very busy. One waitress was super nice. Took our order, but then asked about the sausage with the french toast (saying it came with it) and then charged extra because of the miscommunication. Food took 45 minutes. Beer prices were wrong on the menu so we were overcharged. The sausage we got with the french toast was almost completely raw. When I flagged down the waitress (not the sweet one who took our order) to mention it, she rolled her eyes and said "I'll just get you a new one." Maybe she was rolling her eyes because of the kitchen, but she seemed upset with me. I should mention they fixed all the overcharges when we asked. Food: We got french toast with sausage to split and I had a goat cheese and beets sandwich with a salad. My boyfriend got the sausage and egg sandwich. He said it was awesome. Unfortunately we waited 45 minutes for the french toast and raw sausage. Total disappointment. The french toast was really good. The beet sandwich was nothing special. Sunday Brunch is such a strange time. Why? First: I'm a teacher and it's basically a prelude for Monday which is the WORST day ever. Second: Everyone is scurrying to find a place to booze it up and there are lines even at the worst of places. But last, and surely also least, third: Sunday Brunch food tends to be spruced up eggs hoping that it's dressed up enough to cost you twice or thrice as much. I am not impressed. Eggs are great but being one of the least expensive sources of protein why da eff do they cost so much during brunch time? Now, Allswell offers more than spruced up eggs. They offer you plain eggs. In a regular, egg sandwich; or a seemingly "regular" sandwich. It's an English muffin, gorgeously cooked egg, melted cheddar, and a wonderfully, fresh and juicy sausage patty. Unfortunately that's not what I ordered. My boyfriend did. Lucky. It was good and for $7 (or $10 if you want a side of fries) it is WELL-worth it in this naseously "artsy" neighborhood. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. Chicken was fried to a crisp that is hard to replicate at home but stuffed in bread that was too soft, too unmemorable and too dressed with mayo to be enjoyed at the level that it should've been. But good nonetheless. Moral of the story? Get an egg sandwich. Get booze elsewhere unless you like $12 tiny cocktails. And get the chicken sandwich if you LOVE mayo. read more

Concert goers and foodies, One of our dilemmas is always about where to eat before heading to a show. Should we eat at the concert venue (where a lot of times, the food and drinks are overpriced) or at a restaurant/bar nearby? Luckily, this spot solves it. I wanted to get a delicious meal and drink at happy hour prices before checking out the new Williamsburg Park space. Online, I liked the convenient location and in person, liked even more the comfortable space and happy hour deals. Happy hour specials include $3 Tecate, $1 oysters, $5 sparkling red wine, $7 calamari roll (calamari burger) and $14 burger/fries + beer (Naragansett can beer) and lemme tell you. The burger special is a must for big eaters-- the meat is juicy and thick and the fries are super enormous and fried to perfection. The calamari burger is also yummy and good for those who want a snack. (Best thing to do is to share the calamari burger and burger special.) My friend and I arrived on a Thursday afternoon for some brunch and left very disappointed. We both ordered crispy chicken sandwiches which were burnt and had almost no flavor. The fries were also burnt and extremely salty. The meal came out to be $43 dollars, but later on it stated $60 was taken out of my account. They took a $17 tip without permission and after we left so we couldn't say anything about it. Don't get me wrong, I always leave a tip no matter where I go but there was no option on the website to do so. Either way we did not have one designated server to leave a tip for. The table we sat at already had cups and water that we poured ourselves and we ordered the food ourselves from the website, all they did was bring the food to us. Later on we called them wondering why they took so much out as a tip when we didn't leave one and the person on the phone was very rude and disrespectful. How do they expect us to leave a tip when there is no option on the website to do so. It was a horrible experience and for anyone reading this, I recommend you don't go. read more

I was super hungry. We started with fresh OJ, the biscuit with ricotta and honey (delish!), and coffee. We shared the eggs benedict with kale and french toast with a side of sausage and eggs (the +$4 is a pretty big portion, the sausage is like a big patty). The portions are pretty big - I usually finish my food and had to leave some on the table. Service was fine. Got coffee refills and check promptly. Food came out fairly quickly too. I live a few blocks from this lovely spot. Fell upon it to escape the bro-y night scene on a colder Saturday evening, and have been a frequent visitor since. I'm giving it four stars due to tepid wait staff but stellar bartenders. Due to this odd reality (of most of N. Billyburg unless you're a tall, older-looking dude), I typically drink and dine by the bar where bartenders thoughtfully recommend to my liking -- from drinks to meals. I always come back for their burgers, bartenders, and intimate vibe. I recommend it if you need to unwind and need a quieter (yet hip) atmosphere in this part o' town. read more

Perfect eggs, sausage, toast and jam, and really scrumptious french toast. My baby gave the homemade hot sauce a thumbs up.
