The vast majority of non-manufacturer warranties are essentially junk. They list what they will fix. The list could have a few thousand items on it, which makes it sound impressive, but it's really not. There are so many parts on a modern car that can go wrong that you're more likely to discover that the particular part that broke simply isn't on the list. Auto Advantage sells a true exclusionary-based warranty: they cover everything except for the parts and situations specifically spelled out as excluded. This is the same type of all-inclusive coverage that a dealer will try to sell you in the finance office. Even better, they also sell tire & wheel warranties. I live in New England, and in my experience these policies typically pay for themselves within a year or two from damaged tires and rims. I worked with Nick Mantiera and he was fantastic. He was super responsive to every question and shared sample policies with me so I could actually read the coverage before buying anything. Their prices are exceptionally good. When it finally came time to buy the car I wanted, I walked into the finance office already knowing the exact price I could get for both a tire & wheel policy and an extended warranty. The dealership could not match the quotes I already had. I've read some reviews criticizing Auto Advantage because the warranty itself is provided by a third party. I've purchased numerous extended warranties from auto dealers over the years, and all of them have been administered by third parties. BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, etc. generally aren't simply extending the original factory warranty. So I think many of those complaints stem from not understanding how the auto warranty market actually works. In short: when you're shopping for a car, reach out to Nick. Tell him what you're looking to buy and get your quotes before you go into the dealership. You'll walk into the finance office already knowing what good coverage should cost -- and with a great alternative to the finance-office sales pitch.

I was so pleased when Stony Ford found me an A+ rated company for nearly half of what I was paying WITHOUT (yes, without) sacrificing coverage. They came in under all the BIG ones even when I tried to do the bundle thing (linking car, boat, MC and house...etc) with those big ones. So now that I have purchased a second home...I am about to call them to obtain what I hope will be an equally good rate. I have my quotes form the big 3...we will see....and I will keep you posted!
