I have Progressive car insurance. 3 years ago, a deer ran out and struck the side of my car as I…read morewas on my way home. It damaged my car from the drivers rear view mirror back. Progressive paid to have it fixed at a local place and it looked great. Now it is 3 years later, and the rear fender is coming apart and rusting where it was fixed. Progressive promises "lifetime guarantee". I called them on Saturday February 29, 2002 to claim the warranty. She gave me a claim number and told me that an adjuster would call as soon as they got back into the office. I did not get a call. I called again 10 days later on March 10. I was told that something went wrong and an adjuster named Bernadette would call within 24 hours. Again, no call. Again, I called on March 12 and was told that Bernadette no longer worked in that department, she has moved to another department. I inquired as to why the manager did not reassign my case to someone else. I was told that no one put my claim in the system! A few hours later I did get a call back and told the man that I was claiming their guarantee. He said, "Who told you about the guarantee?" I told him that the adjuster that originally did the deer strike did. He said that the shop that I got it fixed at is now closed. I said yes, the man that owned it passed away last year. The adjuster told me that I must go thru the original shop that fixed it. But the man died, so where do I get it fixed? He said I cannot go to another shop even though there are 2 approved shops within 12 miles of me! Progressive what does "LIFETIME" guarantee really mean to you? To me "Lifetime" means until I die! Here is my review, DO NOT Buy PROGRESSIVE CAR INSURANCE! They do not call you back and find a way around their promises.

Absolutely terrible. Promised me I would save money on car insurance if I went to them but ended up…read morepaying more. I had Progressive the women told me she could save me money if I went to Travelers. When I got my bill I had less coverage then I did with Progressive plus I was paying more. So when I called and told them she gave me the run around and told me if she put me on Progressive through her there was no way she could help me. So needless to say I stuck out 6 months paying ridiculously to much so I cancelled my travelers car insurance got rid of the agency got Progressive again on my own got better coverage and saved over $60. And now 8 months later I get a bill from a collection agency stating that I owe money. If I could give this place zero stars I absolutely would I would not recommend this agency to anyone. I hate to bash a person or a business but unfortunately they deserve it.

While I think PA is NUTS for privatizing government-required services like car registration,…read moretitling and emissions -- given the private sector fattens their wallets by more than doubling the actual costs (while in other states the cost is the cost -- no fat), Jack Maggs is one of the least expensive options among the ones I called. Note that most don't publicly advertise their price, which seems to be part of the big hoax -- making it a lot of work to research a more viable option. But when I'm feeling scammed like PA makes me feel as a transplant who has lived in five other states, I do my homework. Jack Maggs was a bit lower than the one that claims to price match (but was closer so -- mileage saved). They were a ten spot or so lower than AAA if you pay in cash, and significantly less than the place right near Bridgeville Licensing. At $222 for a new title, registration and plate, the amount still caught me off guard but I was more comfortable knowing they were less greedy than some of there others -- and super fast and thorough with great customer service to boot, Bottom line: Stick with the one that balances great service with a competitive price. Oh, and write your dang legislators so they take the private middle people out of government required services so you aren't gouged so deeply and in such a regressive manner. Other states charge by the value of your car... which is progressive. Get on board with what's fair! [the rant continues] Also emissions -- many states have seen the impact of these wane, and again, this cost is regressive and, when it costs twice as much here as Philly, wtf is going on. Calling around I got a range of $38 to $107 so far, and no one bats an eye -- but you should. For a "cheap" city per internet research, the costs are mighty high compared to "expensive" states like WA that even the score with salaries that are higher and state income tax that is non-existent.

The location of Jack Maggs Agency is off the beaten path. Despite having an appointment, we had to…read morewait, only to find out we didn't have all the necessary paperwork. The services took too long to be completed.
