As someone looking for a new women only fitness community after having my baby, I was hoping to find a welcoming and supportive environment. Unfortunately, my first visit was the complete opposite. I arrived about 10 minutes before my scheduled consultation. When I walked in, not a single person welcomed or greeted me. I stood at the front for a few minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me, and when no one did, I sat down on the couch. At 10:00 a.m., I spoke with the Pilates instructor as she was telling her student sitting on the couch to head into class. I told her I was there for a consultation, and she simply replied, "she'll be with you." Directing it to the lady in the back room with another client. The Pilates instructor never asked what kind of consultation I was there for, whether I was a new client, or if I needed to complete any paperwork. I continued waiting for nearly 15 minutes without anyone checking on me. During that time, I watched another employee walk by carrying a clipboard and head to the back without greeting me or asking if I needed help. I wasn't expecting anything extravagant, just a simple "Welcome! We'll be with you shortly." Instead, I felt completely invisible. I was only acknowledged after I stood up at 10:15am and started looking through the flyers at the front desk to get the nutritionist attention in the backroom. I left feeling discriminated against. I know I still have a few pounds to lose after having my baby, and I couldn't help but feel like I wasn't treated with the same warmth or respect as others. Whether that was intentional or not, that was how the experience made me feel, and it was incredibly discouraging. To make matters worse, when I finally spoke with the nutritionist at 10:15am , the only thing she said was, "You missed your class. You can reschedule." There was no effort to ask why I hadn't gone into class or whether anyone had checked me in. As a first-time client, I wasn't comfortable walking into a class without first being checked in or told where to go. Again I have never been to this establishment and I was hoping to get a tour of the place. A women gym should be a place where women of all fitness levels feel welcomed, encouraged, and supported. Sadly, that wasn't my experience here. I'll be taking my business elsewhere to a women gym with a more welcoming and inclusive community where every women regardless of where they are on their fitness journey, is acknowledged and treated with kindness. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, mine couldn't have been more disappointing. They only responded with there's was some confusion with your appointment . It even incorporates very focused warm-up sets specific to lifts in your program. I accomplished in a little over a month what took me 4-5 months at my previous gym! Amazing! I was impressed at how the program they had allowed me to gain the amount of strength I did in such a short period of time. The class format is great and the instruction and attention given to each student/member is excellent. The equipment is great and they also have a good selection of bars to choose from. Even the bathrooms are nicely setup and very clean and tidy! I would highly recommend this gym if you are looking to even try out Olympic Weightlifting and have never done so before. He's firm and not soft with the kids to ensure they want it and is willing to work for it. He focuses on mentality and everything else will fall in place. We have raised 4 children that have all participated in competitive sports here in Las Vegas. Over the past 2 decades we have been to almost all of the youth training centers and continue to have close relationships with the dozens of coaches that have helped to raise and develop our children. We have loved them all. McGovern Sports Champion Training Center is the first time we have had a bad experience in over 20 years. Prior to the start of the 2022 fall football season I met with Dominic at McGovern Champion Sports Training Center. Since we only had 2 weeks before the start of the season I was looking for some quick, specific and targeted training to help get him rehabilitated and conditioned. We did not continue the training at McGovern/Champion because my son said that he never felt good after leaving there. This is coming from a kid that is an all league player in football and basketball, has always had the reputation for being the hardest working on the field/court and has absolutely loved every coach he has ever had. When I questioned my son further I discovered that Dominic has a coaching style that belittles instead of encourages. Each coach has their own style so I'm not critical of this approach. It definitely did not work for my son, but it is not something that would compel me to leave a bad review. In fact I generally only leave positive reviews. The reason I feel forced to write this bad review is to protect other parents from a business operator that has attempted to take advantage of us financially. When I met with Dominic, it was made unquestionable clear that we only needed temporary training and never agreed to anything recurring. We needed to get some extra training for a 2 week period. We have a lot of experience with training. We know the difference between ongoing training and purchasing a training session. Dominic suggested a package of 6 sessions and although that was more than we were looking for we agreed to 6 sessions for $360. These training sessions were back in August 2022. As of this writing, November 2022, I have just discovered that he has been continually billing us monthly in $360 increments. We have not been there for almost 3 months. We never agreed to or signed anything that allows him to charge us. At first, I assumed it must have been a mistake. When I called Dominic to bring it to his attention, he sent a copy of an amatuer, makeshift contract that my 15 year old son signed electronically, indicating that there is a 30 day cancellation policy for all purchases. In this makeshift contract there was no mention of any price, any dates or any services. It's also very clear that the contract he sent me was modified. I've attached a copy and you can clearly see the font change in the last line of the contract. Who does this? Dominic has now stopped responding to my messages and I am now forced to report the fraudulent transactions to my bank and potentially pursue legal action. I hate that I have to write this review, because I know that business is tough and small business owners often struggle to make ends meet. But by taking financial advantage of his customers, this operator tarnishes the spirit of ethical business and makes it harder for all of us to trust the many reputable businesses that are out there. For training your children, please stay away from McGovern - Champion Training Center. Instead, look into to Phase 1, Game Changers, or Mark Phillipi @ PSI. All are wonderful places to develop your young athlete, in an environment where your children won't be harassed or belittled and where they won't try to steal your money.

My experience in this gym was less than ideal even though I've been a loyal patron for so long…read more I returned to this gym since I live close to it at that time. I was informed after a month or so that there's an issue with my billing and that this gym is only getting half of my membership fee. I've asked the GM if my fee will remain the same and I was assured that it will. Fast forward to 9 months after. I noticed that I was getting billed twice; One for this gym's fee (original full membership) and another for half the price. After digging through my statements and multiple calls with corporate billing, my account payments prior to the switch was going to two different gyms and that the system never updated to route all payments to the latest frequently visited gym. AF has this system in place to do so. I know this because I've received a notice of this change at other AF gyms before they move my account. That is the concept having a global AF network of gyms and having one fob as it is used for tracking your activity everywhere you go. I've asked this gym about the issue and I was told to call their corporate billing to verify if I'm going to get my money back for the 9mo worth of extra payments. I was told by this gym that AF establishments are independent franchises and that the issue isn't theirs and I should contact the other gym. The other gym/their corporate billing is also saying the same thing that the issue isn't theirs and I should contact the gym that switched my account originally. Mind you as a customer, this has been going on for 1-2 months of back and forth chasing both gyms down for answers. Even to a point of physically going to the gym and asking each GM/owner to coordinate with each other for a resolution. I, having to leave work early just to reach the GM/employee during their work hours. In the end, I never got my money back and have since cancelled my AF membership after 10+ years. I didn't even lose thousands of dollars. They could've just compensated me and marked it as an expense on their end or even suggesting a 9mo free or even discounted membership to compensate for the headache.
