Dershimer agency would not not even return my call (Dave or the Supervisor) even as I continued my policy payments. No contact for 90 days then on the 100th day after I called my Dershimer rep, she told me my claim was denied and emailed a copy of a denial letter dated 8/10/2020 that I never received. Funny how nobody would follow up with me on this or try to keep me up to date. VERY unprofessional as a business. I even asked several times to have Dave Dershimer personally return my call but that never happened. Do not do business with Universal Property & Casualty Insurance or Dershimer Insurance Agency. I am new to the area and was looking for an accountant and also some advice on financial management. I explained my needs to the girl on the phone, I believe her name was Christine, the immediate response was "we require a $250 deposit". I was taken aback a little. I was not opposed to the deposit, I would not mind giving the deposit prior to them doing work for me, but do they understand this is an interview process? I may not want you to do work for me, or you may not want to handle my finances. That is what an initial meeting is for. It was explained that too many people have them prepare taxes, then claim they have no money. Fine, require the deposit when work is requested, or don't release returns without payment, but don't lump me into a group with deadbeats in the initial phone call. Meet me first, find out I have a near perfect credit score, see that I have a pretty healthy account balance, contact my previous accountant, see if their bill were paid. Then when I bring you all my paperwork, explain that you generally require a deposit. I would have happily given it at that time, but let me see you are worth it first. If the customer service presented at the initial call is indicative of how they handle their clients, then I would find another accountant.
