The proprietor here seems nice enough.But you have to know going in to any " Buy Your Gold and Jewelry" establishment that,They Are In Business To Make Money!!! Given that, Seller beware. Most of these people have been in this business for decades and generations. You don't stand a chance unless you have an idea of the value of what you are selling. I've sold things to different buyers over the years and they all have similar pitches. I recommend you keep it all business and tell them that you are getting estimates from three buyers and "I want you to give me your best offer. If it is the best I will come back." This will keep you from emotional involvement in the transaction and help you get a better deal. Then,go get two more estimates. Do not let them offer you a price for everything. Get a price for each piece. This is how they make it look like a good offer but, you have no idea what each item is valued at. My experience was he told me stones in some rings I offered where man made and worthless and the only value was the melt of the gold!!!! When I got up to leave he started raising his offer!
