My husband is obsessed with astrology, you know, the one that wakes his wife up at 3am to look through a telescope at a planet and all you see is a red dot...ya that type. So no surprise when he wanted to upgrade his telescope and found the one he wanted in Didsbury, so we just had to make a day trip for it. First thing on a Saturday morning we head to All-Star Telescope in Didsbury, thank God my husband drove because I've never been and had no idea what to expect. All-Star is not in the town like I had originally thought. So you can imagine my confusion when we turn down a township road...so a bit down the road you can't miss the massive sign All-Star Telescope (turn right at the sign). Now we thought we were lost at first because when you first turn you'll see a big yellow house a couple sheds and you think you're pulling up to residental. Well keep driving to the back, There you will find a garage / shop with All-Star Telescope signs over it. When you first walk in, the place seems tiny but they have a lot of display items and it's easy to move around in and look at telescopes. George, one of the salesmen (might also be the owner, we never did find that out) pretty sure he is my husband's new best friend. This guy knows his s**t, there was nothing he couldn't answer and to boot he matches peoples personality. My husband and I are a bit of a goofy couple, we like to make fun of eachother and he had no problem being apart our entertainment. He has a story to everything, has tried everything in store, and the BEST PART he's not pushy. He has no problem telling you flat out that something might be nice to have it's not necessary, he'll show you everything but if you don't show interest or don't want it he leaves it at that. We will...my husband will definitelty be back. Another great thing, they do is a stary night. This place shipped me a defective mount and refuses to issues a return label or refund. Basically, just 4 days after receiving the mount it stopped working. The diagnosis was a faulty power connector but Ken said to do whatever I want and they will not issue a refund. Even as per their redund policu since the mount cannot be re sold as new. Scammers. I will pursue a full refund by alternative measures. This is Canada and not the wild wild west. We will see. read more

Ken is knowledgeable and knows his products inside out. The showroom is very well stocked and has multiple products at differing price ranges. It is on a beautiful acreage in a dark sky area and I highly recommend attending one of their observer nights. Ordering online is also super easy and delivery was satisfactory. Purchased a very expensive Televue telescope from Ken at All-star Telescope a few years back and I received a display model that was obviously handled a lot in the show room with a significant amount of dust in and on the top of the lens elements it actually looked used. Given this is a top of the line scope that had cost me a whole lot of money I would expect to have been told that it was a display model and had dust in the lens elements from sitting out then at least I could have made an informed decision to buy the display model or order a new one in box but I was not given this information. When I contacted Ken he tried to blow me off and after much insisting that he do something he said I could sent the scope back if I pay the shipping plus a 25% restocking fee! So you send me a display/used not a new model that you could not be bothered to even wipe the dust off and I'm supposed pay $800 in restocking fees and shipping I think not. I kept the scope and writing this review to let people know of my experience with this "business" which I use the term loosely. read more
