We are thankful for ASES. My 6th and 8th grade boys have had great experiences in academics, athletics and fine arts!

The Housing Directors seem to have less respect for black families and harshly judge student-athletes. I paid $993 to place my child in the dorms, and nine days later, my son was being harassed by a group of female students and strangely reported. The RA at Ornelas A targeted my son by making an unlawful and unreasonable search of my son's room and found matches, called the police and had my son issued a citation. My son's roommate had something confiscated, but the RA DID NOT ISSUE A TICKET TO THE OTHER STUDENT, which is discriminatory. I would think having a blow torch is something that would be a significant offense in comparison to having matches--targeting one student and not the other shows an unwavering level of favoritism, unethical judgment, and lack of equity. My son was kicked out of the dorm with nowhere to go, and University officials refused to speak or respond to me as a parent or as legal. Guardian of the student, despite concern and numerous emails being sent to the housing director and university office of the president. This University specializes in using discrimination against black males and leaving students homeless that live in other cities and states. Also, if you ask too many questions as a parent, the University officials will take it into a fence and use it against your child. My experience as a parent of a student athlete who was attending this university was horrible. I was made to feel that I was asking too many intelligent questions as an African-American woman, which agitated the university officials. I also think that the reason why my son was kicked out of the university dorm rooms had to do with my advocacy for him to be a student at the University and support him. They basically got mad with me and took it out on my son. While these things cannot be proven, they all indirectlythey are true. On the week of September 1, 2022, my son was kicked out without cause and left in the rain. Had I known that I would've paid almost $1000 to get my son in a dormitory and wished he would be targeted and discriminated against nine days later and kicked out of his residency on the TJ C campus, I would've never brought him there. This place is not an educational institution that wants to strengthen and encourage students. I believe in holding students accountable, but first, making them aware of the rules and expectations, and it's OK to give guidelines a second chance to those who may have made a mistake--being kicked out of your dorm because you had matches and a candle is utterly ridiculous. I suggest that they show favoritism to students that they like, and for those that they don't they look for any little thing that they can to try to have you removed, and hopefully withdrawn from the university. Mind you that this university gets over $48 million to help students to become better, but you have adults that are conjuring up trouble for students who are just trying to make it and be better people. I hate that this institution seems to be founded on principles that do not manifest with the civil rights 1964 protections for minorities. What happened to my son ishousing discrimination, and I was manipulated to pay almost $1000 only to have my son kicked out for no reasonable cause. I am exposing them because I don't want anyone else's child treated this way. I hope this review helps you and your choices and not attending Tyler community collegeas I am in Dallas and no means of a way to pick them up As an educator of more than 20+ years, I find this university to be a horrible place for students, and I just wish that we would have investigated more. because I believe in standing up for what's right I do plan to legally pursue this matter. This is just one parent 's experience, but it is the truth. Good luck!
