While I'm on the subject of St George, I may as well review this Greek Orthodox church of which I…read morerecently had the pleasure of visiting for my friend's son's Christening. Tucked down a side street on my usual route to Kingston, I had never before clapped eyes on St George's. And why would I? It's a small and unassuming church, sitting on a residential road. It's beautiful inside and although I can't say that I followed the service it was still pretty interesting to watch. Carried out by a guy with a big, bushy, white beard, the first and final part involved him shaking bells while saying prayers so, for baby Noah, there certainly was enough for him to look at and to keep him occupied, stopping him from crying through it (like every other Christening I've attended!) It smelt strongly of incense as I imagine most churches should (it's rare you'll find me in one!) All-in-all a pleasant service in a lovely little church. What more do you need? I think George might be my fave Saint!

The meetings start with worship and prayer, and then there is a sermon. The atmosphere at Equippers is very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. The worship and preaching is contemporary and really aims to be relevant for everyday life. After the meeting there is coffee and cake and a chance to meet people and have a chat.
