On a side note regarding the post on Chinese New years, all the Christians I know in China and Taiwan celebrate Chinese New Years because it's a time to connect with family and friends and to share and tell them how much you love them. It's not easy being Christian in China and some of them have given up professions, suffered persecution, and are barely scrapping by, but they celebrate Chinese New Years....maybe differently from others....like with prayer and church services along with visiting family, feeding and helping the poor and witnessing to them. Chinese Christians definitely celebrate and share Christ's love during the two week national celebration!

It only took two services for me to realize this is where I need to be…read more The praise and worship is moving, the word always seems to be on point, they have a mix of younger with the older and families, are actively involved in a global and community way, and have various groups and events for you to get involved in. I always feel warmly welcomed when I come, and the Pastors always make time to speak with members after service. Having 3 different services is a plus too, and I haven't had any issues finding parking on the street. There's free coffee and snake before and after service, and an overflow area outside the sanctuary for watching services as well. Next Saturday is their Do Good Global Meal Pack, where we'll be packing 275,000 to send to children in the Dominican Republic along with Kids Around the World.

The MBC church is a wonderful way to interact with a local community of followers of Christ while still learning from the insights of the main pastor Lon Solomon from the main VA campus. Even in the small groups they promote that feeling is not there either. I'm not sure if people are cynical, closed off from past hurts, overworked, or what, but it shows. It makes you want to keep a healthy distance. I think there is a lot of good here and many people here have hearts for God and for people. AND I can't help but notice that a chunk of them could use some serious attitude adjustments. It reflects poorly not only on them but on the church as well. I know it's hard to serve AND 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 shares that we should give cheerfully not reluctantly or under compulsion. This is not just money but time as well. Not following this scripture typically produces bitterness and bad attitudes. The Bible also states in Luke 6:45 that "out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks". I think it might be time for some heart checks. If you don't want to serve, don't or make it a point to get to a place where you can do it cheerfully. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in you, tap into it. It is not God's will for you to serve and exude negativity. I don't want to negate all the good the church does because it does do a lot of good and I did want to bring this to the forefront because it is an issue that should be spoken on. God Bless!
