There was no fitted sheet on the bed, when I called down to inquire they said they don't use fitted sheets but a bed sheet is used and tucked in around the mattress BUT the sheet wasn't big enough to actually be tucked in. The pillows and bedding was poor quality. To top it all off we had loud drunk people yelling outside our window for hours. The windows did nothing to keep the noise out.

I described my soup, entree and dessert below the appended photos. Suffice it to say, beyond that, while the soup wasn't bad, the entree and dessert were great. The room reminded me of a gym with tables and chandeliers and the performing "stage" was just a space beyond the tables. Its air attempts to reek of pretension and the odour of the in crowd - the wall of marigold gloves is a testament to that. Having said that i was welcomed by a smiling bar maid who was more than happy to serve me. Which I found odd, I almost expected her to look me up and down disdainfully before walking away in disgust. I only spent a couple of hours there with a few mates and it was a quiet night so I can't say I experienced it at its best but I wouldn't say this is ever going to be my local or a regular haunt of mine - why? I loathe what its trying to be it doesn't feel natural - maybe I'm being a bit harsh - I just have a natural anathema to all things pretentious - it's only a personal view you may love it there. There are some nice design touches about the place and part of me can imagine it being a nice place to hang out but that part of me is very small indeed.

I have stayed in Newman Hall for 5 days and I was very surprised with the facility and the service…read more The Hall is very well maintained, clean, with an individual bathroom for each tenant at a very reasonable price. The students living in the hall are very friendly and keen to help whoever's new. The bedroom has a reasonable size and all furniture is provided, and they are of good quality. There is a huge library and living room and plenty of space to study. Furthermore, if you are Catholic and want to practice your faith in the University this is the perfect place for you as the Catholic Church is literally 30 seconds away and students can easily get involved in the community. The location is also great, close to the University and beside Blackweir Fields if you want to take a break, do some exercise or just walk in the park. The students are catered and believe me, the food is great! You don't have to spend a single penny for having a delicious dinner. I highly recommend this place and if I were based in Cardiff I wouldn't think twice on my choice of where to live.

I've been to a rug bizarre here, been meaning to try out the Steiner toddlers group on a Thursday morning and have been to a 40th at this venue. The hall itself is oblong and a good size, it has power points and a kitchen, tables, chairs and toilets. One of the things I really like about St.Catherines is that there's a grassy outdoor area punctuated by trees for children to run around on and partied out adults to loiter. As well as it's use by Steiner groups, craft bizarres and for private venue hire, the hall is also used for judo, live music and 'disco tots'. Most people who are at all familiar with Cardiff would recognise the armadillo/woodlouse outer shell of the Wales Millennium Centre, and the giant lettering gracing its sides. But, unfortunately, few people seem to have actually ventured inside. The space is modern and clean, without looking barren, as so easily might have happened. The theatre itself has excellent leg-room, comfortable seats and pretty much unrestricted views. I sometimes struggle with low volume when attending musicals, but the acoustics were excellent, and every word clear as a bell. As well as shows and events, there are also food outlets and guided tours available. There are also free performances most days on the Glanfa stage, which are certainly worth checking out.
