We moved to Davenport in July of 2020 and had new floors, baseboards and countertops installed by LuJo Floors and they did a HORRIBLE job. The workmanship was complete shit. It's been less that 4 years and our floorboards are separating and chipping. Much of our baseboards have fallen off the wall. See photos as proof. We started seeing things fall apart less than 1 yr after they completed the work. We called them back when we first started seeing bumps and notches in the floorboards - they fixed that but when we called them again for the baseboards they wouldn't fix it because it had been more than one year since the work was completed. I know that this type of work should last more than 2 or 3 years!!! We are beyond pissed and frustrated. We spent over $15K with them and this was the quality we received. Especially Wes who was our point of contact from the start. Wes answered all of our question, was honest and helpful from the get go. Highly recommend working with him or anyone else on the team. The work that was done was beautiful, the bathroom turned out exactly as we imagined it and we can't really ask for more than that. We were interrupted twice because of hurricanes which delayed the work but no one can help that. The biggest issue we had was communication from the team. From what I understood, TEK utilizes third party contractors to do specific jobs like drywall, electric, plumbing, etc. So some times people were coming on days we were told no one was coming. Some days we were told someone was coming at 8 and they'd never show. The reason that was most frustrating was because we had to plan our day around when a contractor would be home, like our daughter's nap schedule, our dog's potty schedule, and even our work schedules. We're lucky enough to have a ton of flexibility but if we hadn't, that really would've dragged the project out. Other than the communication about when the team would be coming though, I have no complaints about TEK or the work that was done. I think the communication bit is an easy fix and I do understand the hurricanes made it especially difficult some weeks. Overall: we got a beautiful bathroom done for a great price, the TEK team was great and the only issue we had was some miscommunication.

What was supposed to be a 4 week job is now coming up to 4 months. The majority of these photos are from the final walkthrough June 3rd, 2025. You will see: Mis-match color cabinets installed, which are also not aligned, Incorrect countertop installed, using scrap pieces, Backsplash grout already cracking, Missing hardware for cabinets, Microwave cannot open entirely, and the outlet does not work, Required GFCI outlets missing - major safety hazard, Incorrect color & style bathroom floor tile installed, Mis-match shower tile installed, Shower niche missing, Grout in shower already cracking, Shelving in bathroom vanity missing, Baseboards unfinished and completely missing in areas, Incorrect color LVP flooring installed, Back door hinges are missing screws - major safety hazard, I caught the back door open one night (who knows how many times that has happened), Open wiring in the attic - major fire hazard, These are ONLY the materials & issues that have not been corrected along the way. There were plenty more issues. Addressing them with the owner did not help. Used materials installed from previous jobs without consent (verbal and physical evidence of this). They have requested all invoices early/ before they were due. The 3rd draw was requested early 4 times. On the 4th request personally from the owner, I paid early under his confirmation that cabinets would arrive in 2 days. It took a few weeks before the cabinets were installed, and installed incorrectly. It took another 6 weeks to 'correct', and at the final walkthrough, they are mis-matched colors, not all have shelving, and they are unaligned.

They explained why delays occurred (primarily weather, which makes sense for Florida: painting over something wet will not stay on as long as something painted over dry). From when Diego and Nero arrived they were extremely kind and attentive. They took their time doing the taping, and then the detailed painting to ensure there were no flaws or possible leaks of different colors where they shouldn't have been. We have a screen enclosure that they had to remove a panel to paint part of the house, and they took care of scheduling someone to replace it once they finished, and included that price in our payment to them. We also purchased a different front door (they had originally agreed to paint the current one so it was in the price), and will be coming back out when the new door arrives to get it painted. Honestly, the price is worth the attention and care they provide to every client. And also the relationship between the owner and his employees makes it clear they don't feel rushed to finish rather than doing the job right. I highly recommend them, and we will definitely be hiring once we select our interior colors!

ColorWorx is for people who care about quality. People who plan to stay in their home and want the job done right, so they won't have to revisit painting for years to come. I chose ColorWorx initially because they specialize in cabinet refinishing, and I wanted that done properly - not just a simple paint job. Then I talked to Chris and came to realize that they could do a lot more than just simply painting. They could update the hardware in the cabinets and add pull-out shelves. They could take down some ugly wall-size mirrors in the bathroom that I really didn't like. They could fix drywall from some electrical work where I hadn't yet arranged for the drywall repair. They could do some tile-work for part of the area uncovered by the removed mirror. The fact that they could handle a broad array of tasks meant I didn't have to chase down and coordinate multiple vendors. I didn't realize at the time how important that would be. Though my condo is not large, it was a big job - the walls had not been treated kindly over the years, and I wanted it to look as much as possible "like new" before I moved in. The time and effort they put into the prep work was amazing. And then, they found some drywall damage from moisture. My first thought was to panic - but it turns out they could handle that as well. They ripped out the damaged drywall, sealed the concrete block, replaced the insulation, and closed it all up again. Yes, it did delay the job by a couple of weeks (that kind of work takes time as you need to make sure everything is dry), but I didn't have to worry about it, and the added cost was quite reasonable. Another painter might have just painted over the problem and never told me about it. Not ColorWorx. And then there's the attention to detail. I have a number of bi-fold closet doors - two of which did not close properly. I never mentioned them, yet before they left, the doors worked perfectly. As for the results of the painting and cabinet finishing - outstanding. One thing I liked is that most (if not all) of the people who showed up actually work for ColorWorx - they aren't random 3rd party contractors brought in for the job. And I was told they keep their people by paying them decent wages - which I believe. And yes, that is reflected in the price - as I hinted at in the beginning - if you're looking for the cheapest option, you're not likely to go with ColorWorx. But if you're looking for the best option - they should be at the top of your list. Special kudos to Alejandro, Julio, Jose, Yosi and Nilsa and maybe a couple of others whose names I missed. They took care of my place as if it were their own. Alejandro in particular has an amazing eye for detail and quality - spotting and taking care of issues I probably never would have noticed. And thanks of course to Chris and Julie (the owners) - despite being very busy, they consistently responded to Emails and texts promptly - sometimes immediately, but always within a few hours.
