Never before paid for a cleaning on my insurance plan, said i needed scaling. The cleaning was no different than any cleaning I have ever had in my 50 years on this earth. I know a thing because I am in the HR department at a major healthcare organization and am connected to the benefits department. After researching a bit, checked the additional procedure on the ADA for scaling to see if it is appropriate for my cleaning, and says Codes D4342 are therapeutic procedures, and are indicated for patients who require scaling and root planing due to bone loss and subsequent loss of attachment. Instrumentation of the exposed root surface to remove deposits is an integral part of this procedure. This is a multiple trip and hours procedure, yet mine was done in the regular 35 minutes Research here-- https://www.ada.org/~/media/ADA/Publications/Files/D4346EducationGuidelines_V4_2018Jul06.pdf?la=en Also ADA says 5.B.6.Unnecessary Services. A dentist who recommends and performs unnecessary dental services or procedures is engaged in unethical conduct. The dentist's ethical obligation in this matter applies regardless of the type of practice arrangement or contractual obligations in which he or she provides patient care

Where they really shine is the staff, whom are stellar and accomdating (definitely deserve a raise) but cannot tell you their level of service since they refused me service because of my whack arse gross insurance. So yes, they lose a star from participating in the for-profit healthcare system that denied me access to care due to unaffordability - but this should not be a demerit on the workers - hope I can go back and actually get care! In the meantime and into perpetuity, #MedicareForAll.

The dental hygienist, Karen, is really great, competent, knowledgeable and took great care of my…read moregums. The owner or head dentist, a tall woman, on my first visit, made a comment to me in front of a few people in the lobby "how does it feel that your top two front teeth are much whiter than the rest of your teeth?". I was quite shocked and didn't even know who this person was and quickly responded, "I think I have a nice smile and have had many compliments on my teeth". The only reason I did not say anything to her more is that I did not want to embarrass her in front of her patients. I never came in contact again with her until I had to have an x-ray/dentist exam and was told I needed a crown on a molar that had already had a root canal on it. Since the price she quoted was so high, I asked her what the price for an extraction of my molar would be, and it was still too expensive. I had already second opinioned that with another dentist for half the price of the crown and told her I would not be having that procedure in their office. The second opinion, dentist told me I didn't need an extraction and I didn't even need a crown, just come back for a cleaning in six months. She couldn't believe it that I had got a second opinion and suggested I go to a dental school or consult with a dental professor as I had "a hole in my head" and this is very serious and could cause me many physical health problems. She kept harassing me sending me three text messages that she couldn't understand why I would not come back there. I thought she was not only professionally incompetent, but mentally incompetent texting me in this manner. At this point, I was done with them completely. They offer you a package for $299. This includes two x-rays and two dental cleanings. The last time I went in there I only used half of that package meaning there was about $150 remaining and they refused to give it back to me stating that their x-rays start out at $240 and the dental cleaning is $130 telling me in fact, I owe them money when in fact, I already paid them in advance for their $299 annual preventative dental package. They are here to get your money, could care less about you other than you're just another $ sign and she sent me three texts, not understanding why I would not come back to them. I not only felt ripped off but slandered in front of a bunch of people. The dentist told me in 20 years she had never had anyone second opinion her and she was quite upset that I did, demanded the x-rays from the other dentist so she could review and no way was I going to give her those. She asked if they did the standup 360 x-ray, which they did, telling me those are no good that they do not detect anything also stating that their x-rays are the best which are very antiquated and make you contort and bite in your mouth for the bite wings like in the old dentist days. They have a very beautiful lobby with a crystal chandelier, but don't let that fool you when you walk in. I would walk out, no, run out.

Dr. Cismas did my veneers and now I look like a new person…read more I originally came to see Dr. Cismas because I broke my front tooth. She was able to quickly repair it and took the time to go over the veneers option with me. I couldn't be happier I decided to go with her. Dr. Cismas and a very precise and thorough, and she won't stop until she achieves perfection. She is also very easygoing and friendly. I got a new set of veneers in a period of about a month. The whole process was fast and smooth. I highly recommend Dr. Cismas for any dental work.

DISAPPOINTING FIRST IMPRESSION…read more I called this dental office today hoping to become a new patient because I'd seen so many great reviews, but unfortunately my experience with the front desk specifically Jackie wasn't very pleasant. When I explained that my insurance had just kicked in and that I was covered, she immediately dismissed me, insisting that "not all the time it is." I tried to clarify and even offered to provide my insurance information, but she told me I'd have to come into the office first. Later, she mentioned that I could send my information in something she could've just told me from the start. The tone throughout the conversation was very sarcastic and passive-aggressive. When I called back to confirm that my insurance was indeed active. I asked about my potential co-pay, and although I had no issue providing my information, she stated that even with it, she couldn't tell me. She also made a confusing comment about "main" procedures being covered, but when I followed up on that, she changed her wording and broke it down in a way that felt condescending. As someone new to the office, I didn't feel welcomed or respected. I genuinely wanted to schedule here because of the many positive reviews, but my interaction with the front desk left a bad impression. I hope management addresses this, because first impressions matter and this one made me reconsider becoming a patient. As someone who values good service and has a large online platform where I often share my experiences with businesses, I genuinely hope the office takes this feedback seriously. I'm not posting this to "call anyone out," but to encourage better communication and professionalism moving forward.

There are 2 assistants and both are so sweet and always explain the process of what will be worked on for that day. I never have to worry about them pushing treatment that I don't even need or doesn't make sense. Dr. Rothfield explains everything to where I can understand what I need and why I need it. 5 stars isn't enough to give this office because it deserves 10 stars. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dental home. Thank you Rothfield Dental!
