I was connected to this company through Home Depot as they are their fence installers for much of Bergen county. Heather was my main point of contact and she was easy to deal with. However after agreeing on the estimated price and paying the full $6.5k upfront, they canceled my project because they refused to dig the posts holes below the frost line which in North Jersey is 36". Digging post holes below the frost line of any area is a best practice of any high quality fence installer that stands behind their work as it prevents frost heave down the road which causes many fences to become jagged, uneven, lean and unsightly. I also offered to pay more if necessary and within minutes they replied via email that they would need an addition $2000 with no details! Up to this point I had not bothered to ask for an itemized estimate but once I did to better understand the source of this extra $2k, they said that wasn't possible and they have decided to cancel the job..... also cost us our financing promotion since it expired while working with them! All round a terrible experience and the work never started. I guess a blessing in disguise. Also they only offer 1 yr warranty on their work whereas the non-big box fence installer we found offers 5 years!! Don't let ANY fence contractor get away with not digging past your area's frost line!! It's the bare minimum for long lasting fence project that looks as good 10 years later as it did on day 1! read more

Note that the name of this business is also known as All Custom Fence of New Jersey with headquarters located in West Orange. Frankly, based on my initial meeting with Marlon, the Field Rep and "partner", I never perceived that I would have to write this review. However, in the interest of permitting other potential customers to form their own opinions, it is offered with that intent. All was going very well during our first on-site meeting in my backyard. Marlon appeared to demonstrate a good degree of listening skills along with taking notes to document my scope-of-work. Additionally, other than the job at hand, we found common ground with our interest in finding homes for needy pups. It was not long after that meeting that I detected Marlon's somewhat impatience with my endeavoring to engage him in basic business discussions which entailed scheduling my job. Following days of not hearing from Marlon, I reached out to his office to express my concern. Marlon called me shortly thereafter indicating that he took exception to my follow-up phone calls, stating that he would now cancel my job and refund my deposit. Marlon's behavior did not appear to resemble that of a "senior" employee of the firm and at that juncture, I basically and humbly requested that he reconsider working on my project. It should be noted here that, following each of Marlon's promises, I moved our car out of our driveway so Marlon's crew could use it for their truck. Parking on our street is next to impossible yet I wanted to exhibit cooperation on my part all of which was now in vain. Marlon accepted my request and gave me new schedule dates. His crew did not, however, show up at my home as promised. I cleared my own schedule for several days thereafter, based on receiving additional promised Start Dates from Marlon all of which were No-Shows. Text messages were exchanged with dates and times from Marlon yet those days had come and gone with no one showing up. At that juncture, I made a decision to cancel my project requesting a refund of my down payment. I texted Marlon to indicate as much. Within a very short time frame, Marlon's office texted me with the refund details. I believe the company had no intention of ever working on my project due to their inability to properly schedule a variety of jobs. Marlon came and did and estimate. Afterwards he told me over three times that he would call me back regarding the status of the permit he was filing. Finally the Saturday before installation he told me he checked the coordinators schedule and it was 'all good' and that I should be on the lookout for a permit in the mail. Failed to properly install gate posts and now they will not close. Initially contractor took my phone calls but now they refuse to answer my calls and have not fixed any of the issues. Made an appointment for an estimate. Took the day off work. They never showed. Called the office, told me they're running 1 hour behind. Waited 2 hours. Still no-show. Followed up with the office again and was told that "He was at your house and no-one answered" & "he called but couldn't leave a message". I explained how that was not possible as I was in front of the house painting, was home all day, had received no calls & have cameras all around my home. We would not recommend using this company. Marlon and Saul are nice but very unresponsive to problems. It took much longer than expected to finish the job; and when we had a problem with our deer fence, they never came to fix that issue. They started to ignore all phone calls and text messages. This company installed a fence for our neighbor. They put a fence post directly through the main line of our sprinkler system. It has been over a month since we notified them of this issue and they still have not made any effort to repair things. Excellent work by Saul and crew! He was very patient to listen to what we wanted and understood our vision of the fence and handrail we had for the patio. We had no idea about the fence work besides knowledge from googling and Saul was helpful in making us understand. Unlike usual contractors, he was not pushy with any ideas or materials and completely went by what we wanted. Work was finished on time with the exception of snow days. There were small glitches for which he did a post completion followup visit and fixed everything. I must also say that due to various code issues with the city, the work was being delayed from my side and Saul was very patient enough to bear with us and adjust his schedule accordingly. His price was very competitive and he was not pushy about money at all and took the payment from us part by part as the work progressed. read more

Saul, I think my 2 stars is being more than generous. We have given "All Custom Fence" more than enough time to come correct the issues with the sagging gate that we were promised would never sag. So let me explain my whole experience using All Custom Fence. They started the project 2 weeks late then promised. (Never Called, We had to call him). They blamed the town for the permit delay but when we called the town, permits were not submitted. They did not install the fence in the front of house where we wanted it to be (even with house). The didn't install the small gate flush with the garage like we wanted. We had to call and tell them that the fence was crooked (not squared). Then had to call them because the jog in the fence went a panel more then it was planned to be making it look aesthetically unpleasing and a waste of usable space. Used materials off property that another contractor planned on using for something else. Oh and best part, installed used gate latch / bolt, asked to replace it and was told that a new one was installed. Than lied about painting it, even though I got paint on my hand and ruined my shirt.(Saul eventually did drop off new gate latch) Company Name submitted on permits was not same name as All Custom Fence. read more

I called the office multiple times to ensure my contact information was correct, and they assured my an estimate would be coming shortly. Still nothing. The fence came out great, no complaints with the workmanship and quality. However the company does seem to have communication issues. It was near impossible to get in touch with them for a few days. The owner did finally get in touch and apologize for the lack communication noting it was due to some recent staff changes. Hopefully everything gets squared away soon because these guys do make a great fence. read more

We hired All Custom to install a fence in our backyard. At the onset, they seemed wonderful. Marlin was friendly and responsive, and gave us his cell number to call or text whenever there was a question. Within a week after completion, we noticed that the bracket attaching the gate to the chimney was loose, causing the gate to not close properly. Suddenly, Marlin didn't get my texts anymore, nor did he pick up my call. We ended up calling the company number and Marlin answers - he assures us this will be fixed. Except, about two weeks after, the gate becomes loose for a second time. We ended up getting the run around for over a week, and it wasn't until we got angry that we got results. Basically, the installation was fast, what we wanted and seemed to do a good job. But for the one issue that we had, they were difficult to get a hold of and when we did, they consistently didn't keep their word on when the problem would be fixed. read more

Marlon came out to do an estimate and really sold us on the company. While the workmanship seems good, there is a complete lack in communication. They started the job in June and never finished installing the closing springs on both gates. Multiple calls and texts to Marlon have now gone unanswered when he originally told me someone would be out to finish. Now it seems like he is avoiding me. I've called the office and was told someone would be out next week and they never showed up (it's now over a month later). Now no one will pick up or return my calls. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED considering this could have been an easy fix on their end. I would NOT recommend this company. I believe this company operates out of West Orange. read more

I had fences installed this summer, the work was ok but they messed up on the entry gates. They were shabby, uneven ugly & not to my specifications as agreed. Since I ordered a hot tub I wanted to be sure it would fit through 2 swinging gates they installed 1 small swinging gate about 2 feet wide & a stationary gate, both of which looked like the work of preschoolers. I kept calling & calling them to fix the issue, they kept promising & promising to return then finally showed up the day before hot tub delivery, removed that mess of a gate & never returned. Delivery came & went & I kept calling & they just kept lying leaving us exposed! I woke up at 5:30 am for my morning walk & noticed some strange dude walking thru the entryway. I asked strange dude whats up, he said its open so I'm curious. Well my dogs took care of strange dude and I wound up paying another $1,500 to the first company who would come out and I am pissed and suing them! I had fences installed less than a year ago. The work itself was good even though they messed up on the gate. It should have been been a push instead of a pull gate. We agreed on rectifying the issue by having the decorative part of the fence face out and changing the post. They were suppose to deliver the handles to be installed on the fence and I I never received them. But 2 weeks ago I reached out to the owner Saul and also to Marlon for a follow up on a readjustment of the hinges on the gate because on several occasion I have not been able to open the gate and have been stuck. I did not hear back so sent a follow up message in which I was informed they would send someone to fix the situation the following day. They never arrived. I sent a third message and no response from from either Saul or Marlon. If your like me and are big on principle and follow up then it may be best to take your business elsewhere. read more
