We love shopping at Whole Foods when home in California, and it was nice to find a "petite" version…read moreclose to Vieux Quebec, on the the main shopping street of rue St-Jean, a few blocks to outside the walls of Haute Ville. A very good selection of fresh and packaged foods, with most being "biologiques", .i.e., organic food. Definitely a recommendation for a health food market. Located in the Marché du Vieux-Port, this is an excellent destination not just for tea lovers but for spice folks too. I was staring at this place up and down from the outside. And once you're inside it was hard to take it all in. Place is jam-packed with a gazillion cabinets and Tins full of Teas and Spices. Plus you can get other non-perishables. So here's the thing- La Route isn't a Café. But it is a cozy and funky shop holding a humongous selection of Teas- practically in every flavor. Heads up people, aisles are narrow. They're so narrow, two people walking opposite each other have to just keep it moving sideways. Brought back home a Chocolate Chai Tea selection as well as regular Chai in loose tea form. Plus grabbed Cayenne, Garam Masala and Coriander powder for my fave Lasooni Gobi recipe to make at home. Definitely make a stop here if this is up your alley. And have to also say, La Route is the most enticing tea and spice shop I've seen so far.
