My confidence could have possibly cost me dearly had I gone with the public defender. I called the office for information and was amazed at the concern, helpfullness, and humanity of Counselor Tinsley. My two calls were returned and two lengthy and enlightening meetings with the attorney took place before I even considered hiring him. He was gracious and flexible enough to help with my financial situation. His representation throughout this ordeal was exactly what I needed. A serious wake up call along with leaving nothing to chance turn what could have been a horrifying nightmare into, and I am shocked to say this, A pleasant encounter with the legal system. Cassandra, an assistant, first said she would call me back that Monday evening. I called her back right before 5pm for her to say that the lawyer was out of office until Thursday. Called a few days after and got "oh it'll be a few weeks"...meanwhile, I was facing an eviction. And, actually got my first ever eviction. After relocating, they called to schedule an interview but I missed the call being that I'm now in the country with poor cell phone service. So I sent an email, no response at all. Just called, the lawyer is not in and was busy attending seminars which is why no one had the courtesy to respond I guess. We need a new therapist, we are in pain, we have been evicted and have went from FL to SC. This firm clearly either doesn't care about its clients or has way too much on their plate. However, I learned my first lesson in the aftermath of an auto accident; RESEARCH first. I do not recommend this firm to anyone looking for real help.

We ended up having to take our case to trial and even though he wasn't too confident in the jury selection that had been made, he put on a strong case from start to finish. In the end, he was able to prove my husband's innocence and we got a not guilty verdict. We are so thankful for all his hard work. His secretary is fantastic and they are very accommodating with your schedule. On 2 occasions, he met with us in a Sunday afternoon. He was also very affordable. If you're looking for a great attorney, trust me you won't go wrong with Steve Tinsley.

The day my boyfriend was to get releases the lawyer I hired Mr. Mike Barber of The Umansky law firm never showed up so I called and his assistant Tanya White who was so incredibly rude and always gave me wrong info. From day one told me he was not going to make it and was going to send a replacement! They did not even give me a notice that he was not going to show first of all. And to make matters worse the judge call my boyfriends case twice and no one was there to represent him. So i called her again and she says she was going to send a replacement long story short he never showed up either! At this time I'm very upset crying and 8 months pregnant. She literally told me that she was annoyed and stressed with me calling and I only called twice. That law firm did not do what I hired them to they are cons! But my point is that Steve Tinsley did not even know me or was not even assigned to the case and he helped me! Because of him my boyfriend is a free man!!!! The judge was going to reschedule the hearing for a later date and keep my boyfriend in jail 4 weeks longer because that unprofessional law group did not do what I hired them for. even though he was supposed to get out that day with time served. Mr. Tinsley stepped in saw that and took over and got my boyfriend released! I'm so grateful to him! He did not have to help or do anything. But because of him my boyfriend is home to see our son born! If I ever have needs for a law firm I will only be going to him! Not only was he kind and did all this out the kindness of his heart but he got the job done! Five stars to Steve Tinsley!

I would NEVER recommend Leon Mercedes as an attorney to anyone. I had a very simple case (a step…read morefather adoption. My daughter was to be adopted by my now husband. My daughters biological father was willingly signing over his rights if I took him off child support). Unfortunately for me Leon Mercedes was representing my daughters biological father previous cases so she knew him before me. Going in I could already see the favoritism, she did not care to know my side of the story, but was addiment that the only way bio father would sign over his rights was through her because he trusted her only. I knew this was going to be a conflict of interest, but I agreed to have her represent me in this case and bio dad because according to her it was an easy case and "there was no conflict of interest since me and my bio dad were on the same page". She requested 4000 of me and none from him, but this has been a long time coming roller coaster and I as a mother willing to do anything for my daughters safety and happiness. I agreed and paid the Leon the attorney the money. No one will understand the desperation me and my family had to have this process completed and my daughters out if harms way for good. She took advantage of me and my family's vulnerability. Leon work style is extremely UNETHICAL and she did ILLEGAL activity during the time that she represented me. She took mine and my husbands signatures on blank pieces of paper (which is illegal) but her argument was I needed to trust her that she does this to all her clients. Hesitantly I signed, my husband was not going to but he knew everything we have gone through over the years with bio dad, his family, and my daughter and he just wanted to make me happy and also signed the blank paper. After I got home I did some research and overthinking and ended up messaging the Leon the attorney and let her know that what she asked of us was wrong and that I did not want her to our signatures. She "agreed", but I know the damage was already done. I will never find out which documents she used our signatures for. She told me there was still paperwork I needed to sign after the step father adoption was complete to terminate child support but those documents were never sent to me. I will never know what our signatures were used for. That my fault, I let my desperation cloud my judgement and my husbands. She made me believe that any child support arrears was also automatically terminated. I only ever agreed to take bio dad off child support I never mentioned anything about arrears. On the day of hearing Literally 15 minutes before getting on the facetime call with the judge she was going over some questions that the judge will ask. One of those questions was do I agree to relieve bio dad of arrears support owed. In that moment I realized it was my option that I could say no I don't agree. She got so angry with me just asking; she began yelling, acting completely hieratical and unprofessional in front of my husband, me, and my 2 daughters 10 and 6 years old. Me and my husband starred at her in complete shock the way she was acting, my daughters terrified; I tried to reason with her and explain why it was not fair that I could not in front of the judge express how I felt that he should have to pay arrears after 9 years going to court all the money spent and that's not even 1 quarter of everything he put my daughter and myself through to them agree to sign over his rights if I take him off child support, on top of that having to pay her alone the 4000 for a super easy case. She immediately played victim after her tyrant saying she made an agreement with bio dad and she would look bad if I did not agree to the terms she made. When I basically told her that its not my fault she made that agreement with him without checking properly informing me and checking with me first she got so angry again telling me she was not going to represent me that now it was a conflict of interest. AGAIN this is minutes before the judge and us were supposed to get on the video call. Once she told me she would not represent me my husband stepped in to calm things down basically telling me we don't need anything from bio dad and we have made it all the way to this point to start over was not in our best interest. Leon the attorney made me lie under oath to the judge threatening me that she would not represent me further if I did not agree. Desperate and emotional out 4000 dollars I complied. I will never recommend you Leon Mercedes to represent anyone and will always share my experience. You know what you did was illegal and unethical, how you handled the case how you treated me and my family and how you took advantage of us. Just to make it clear the only reason I chose is because bio dad trusted you and I knew this was the only way it would be "smooth", but my blood boils every time I think about how you took advantage of my only weakness my daughter. P.S her front desk secretary was extremely kind.

So I hired J Gellespie to help me get my children back. He got us in front if the Judge but DCF dismissed the dcf worker and got their DCF attorneys into the fight because they knew after 3 years of fighting if I got ny children back I was going to sue the CRAP out of them.
