I grew up in Tioga, and over the years, I have spent countless hours at this mall in its heyday. On a recent trip home to visit, I stopped in to see how the mall is doing, and to pick something up from Ulta. The mall is not dead, but it is in ICU and terminal. There used to be a large food court, but the only thing in there now is a Chick-fil-A and I don't eat that. The only anchor stores that remain are JC Penney and Dillards; the rest are gone leaving only local stores and kiosks. Gone are my favorite stores: Caplan's, Weiss & Goldring, KB Drugs, and so many more. I don't see this mall being open in five more years, which saddens me. read more

They need to start over and try again. This mall is so dated. The only good thing was Great American cookies. JCP wasn't too bad! But don't go thinking you're going in there getting anything special BR side you're not. Good place to burn calories, just to walk around. read more

Unfortunately an older and dying mall that has seen better days. Has an OK food court with Chick-fil-A always busy, decent clothes shopping at Dillards, but that's about it. It occupies a very large space, and even with the empty stores, it's a good place to do mall walking for exercise. read more

The mall has department stores and smaller chain stores, as well (JC Penny, Burlington Coat Factory, Claire's, The Children's Place, etc...). There's a Master Cuts, too. It's not a huge mall or anything, but you can definitely find some great stuff! There's a food court which includes a corn dog place, Mandarin Express, El Rodeo Mexican restaurant and the focus of my attention: a cookie place! They also have those stationary kiddie "rides" you put quarters in (I have such a hard time getting out of those). There's free WiFi! read more

I am an African American senior citizen and was in Alexandria, LA for a recent weekend family birthday party. I was with three other male, bearded seniors who said they wanted to get some items for the event so we decided to go to the Alexandria Mall to do the shopping. This was a Saturday before noon and the mall did not have a large number of people. One of us found and purchased the shirt he needed in J C Penny's. Following this, we left Penny's and went to the open Mall area where we saw multiple stores. Another member of our quartet began looking for and found a jewelry store that could remove some links from his watchband but would take fifteen minutes. To pass the time we continued our quiet talking and strolling through the mall. We took a look in a Payless Shoe that was having close out sales but did not purchase anything and returned to the open area and continued talking. Although I am a person who has vision only in one eye, I became aware that a uniformed mall security person in yellow and black uniform seemed to be shadowing us but said nothing. It turned out to be worse than I realized because my companions who are all retired military and law enforcement later told me that we were actually being observed by by the uniformed security and two plain clothes persons she had summoned via phone. They were collectively following us! Imagine that! Four non obnoxious and retired African American men with gray beards attracted the attention of the Alexandria Mall security staff in 2019! Most of our time in the mall was in the open mall area, but NOT the stores. As we were about to leave when the watch was ready, one of us approached the uniformed security person and informed her that we are retired military and law enforcement people and that she had clearly targeted the wrong people. What he did not tell her is that any one of us could easily have paid her salary for the month. One star because cannot post with at least one star. read more

Not too long ago, the Alexandria Mall was thriving; but now, it seems as though it is on it's last leg. I went to the mall today, and after walking around and going into a few stores, I felt depressed and I just wanted to leave. There are so many empty, dark, closed stores. It is such a boring, long walk to each store that I actually want to go into. The carpet is all old looking and stained, and there is absolutely no exciting things to look at or do here anymore. From Victoria's Secret to the entrance to Sears, there is basically nothing. Forever 21 even closed down, and that says something. This place needs some major updates, and for starters the rank smell you get from the dumpsters right before you walk in the front entrance needs to be taken care of. If you actually want some of the 14,000 college students, 35,000 Fort Polk Soldiers, or any of the population to come spend money here, RENOVATE. Make it look nicer! Make our mall look like 2015 instead of 1973 (the year it opened). Two hotels are being built right next to the Alexandria Mall right now (one is literally in the parking lot), but none of the people that will be staying there will go to our mall, and if they do, they'll regret it. read more

It's a mall.... It's saving grace is that it has a forever 21, express, VS, bed bath and beyond and JCP. After that, it's not anything special. It is one story, smelly carpeting, and just wierd. There is an abandoned side of the mall where sears is located and it is so sketchy. Dim lighting,humid air, dingy smell. Go at your own risk to that side of the mall. This is the only mall in Alexandria but it is very good, the store selection is very wide and the employees are usually nice. they did go under renovations a while ago but they are done now, the view is very nice, they have skylights so that natural sunlight fills the place. some stores are closed (meaning there is nothing but a dark empty room) but not many. read more
