The restrooms had mirrors, which differed from the Indy Speedrome. They were decorated pretty nicely too. They had a concession stand with food, and many stands and a few food trucks. There was a cotton candy stand, ice cream, and beer stand. The prices were pricey but not too terrible. It was $12 for adults and less for children. They take credit cards at the ticket booth, but the food stands you need cash. Unfortunately there weren't a ton of racers. It was still exciting, like I said, I love the Speedrome. But the main event, the figure 8, there were only 7 cars. The track is so big the cars barely made contact. There were 4 races and then the figure 8 to end the night. They have different types of cars in each race. One of the races they had minis, which were so cute! Hopefully they can get more racers involved. I'd hate to see the place not make it. This small town festival packs a ton of fun during the annual three day event. We went early Sunday…read moremorning to avoid crowds. Many of the vendors weren't opened yet, but we found plenty to see and do. The information staff is friendly with great maps and programs of the festival guides. They explained that Saturday night was busy at the fair with several live concerts and carnival rides running late into the evening. The carnival rides and game booths looked sparkling new, colorful and clean. I wished I had brought my granddaughters. On Sunday, you could by a "band" and get to ride everything for one price. There was one booth with locally made glass paperweights. Elwood is famous for glass making for well over 130 years. The festival offered free tours of two local glass shops. The tours were short, only 10 minutes at each stop, but you could drive back over to the shops after the tour. I was hoping to see more glass at the actual festival with information on the Elwood history. There were many booths filled with carnival-type trinkets, local crafts and food. But the best part was a long line of food trucks. There was every type of food, coffee and summer beverages imaginable. The smell of bacon frying filled the air. Since it was early, I grabbed some biscuits and gravy from the Quincy Masonic Lodge truck. The guys in the truck were jovial and fun. I ate my breakfast at nearby picnic tables. They were delicious and stuck to my ribs. Food prices were unbelievably reasonable. There was an outdoor pavilion where concerts and other events happened. Nearby restrooms were available. Admission and parking were free. There was close parking on Sunday morning, but I'm sure parking was a challenge on Saturday. It was easy to get around the park. People are friendly. The festival is worth the visit.

Despite having existed for 50 years (51 in 2022), the Elwood Glass Festival seems rather modestly known outside the Madison and Tipton County areas. I only heard of it because of a friend who lives in the Elwood area. It gave me the opportunity to more fully explore a part of the state that I've never really visited. The festival is a tribute to the unique, beautifully crafted hand-blown art-glass produced throughout the Elwood community since the earliest days of the Indiana Gas Boom, more than 100 years ago. It's held during the third weekend of August from Friday-Sunday and includes a parade, carnival rides, bus tours, food, collectibles, demonstrations, and contests. The festival is crowded but manageable and most Indianapolis festival-goers will likely consider it fairly modest compared to some Indy fests. The crowd was friendly when I attended and accessibility is fairly solid with the obvious exception of some of the carnival rides. The glass festival is considered family friendly and admission is free. The festival takes place in Callaway Park, an Elwood city park that is rather nice sized. The Elwood Glass Festival also includes The Vintage Rollers Car Show that brings more than 300 classic and antique cars each year along with live bands and other entertainment at the Jim Knoop Amphitheater inside Callaway Park. Free bus tours are available daily and include stops at Carol's Legacy Glass and the Historic Elwood Opera House. Both of these are worth the short trip up from Indy. The Elwood Glass Festival is only about an hour North of Indy if that. It's an easy drive and a great day trip with Anderson about 30 minutes from Elwood. This is definitely a festival worth putting on the family calendar.

For the prices they charge and the quality of their food, it is less than satisfactory. I got the chicken piccata, which I often do at nicer restaurants, (I wouldn't call the Delaware Country Club a nice restaurant after my experience) and it was a small blanket of angel hair pasta hiding under an even smaller piece of chicken. I honestly thought when they set the plate down it was a joke. $22 dollars and you're skimping out on thinly sliced chicken and pasta, come on. Waste of gas getting there. The staff was attentive to our needs, but if you want to market the Country Club as a nice facility, lower your prices and make your staff dress a little nicer. Old baggy T-shirts, hair all over the place and falling out of the pony tail, and overall looking a mess, it's embarrassing.

I recently returned to this hobby since I was a kid and I am now an old guy.. I was amazed at the…read moreadvances. I chose Mr muffin as my dealer and spent thousands of dollars in less than a year for stock items and pre-orders. This last Christmas my family bought 2 items for myself and my son that I was not aware of that were also on my Mr. Muffin pre-order list. This pre-order list of multiple items also amounted to thousands of dollars. I called just to ASK (ASK only) if I canceled those 2 pre-orders (out 6 more that were already placed), would that ruin our business relationship in the future. I told the receptionist that I did not want to have that loss of a relationship to occur and would accept and pay for the duplicate pre-order if that were the case. The receptionist canceled the pre-order without indicating at all that there would be a problem for future orders. In fact, we discussed the delivery dates of the remaining 2 items on the order that I still wanted. Weeks later, I went online and noticed that all of my pre-orders were canceled. I called the company to ask if Lionel had stopped production or what had caused the cancelation to the receptionist. I was transferred to the owner. I explained the situation. His response was that is not how the situation was explained to him and told me to find another dealer or supplier of Lionel trains. This really took the wind out of my sails for the hobby and soured me. I was working with my disabled wheelchair bound son who has muscular dystrophy to get into the hobby. All he can do is play video games and I figured that this would be a good way to work together as a common interest other than videos. It was something he could still control by hand. He loves Star Wars and I had pre-ordered Star Wars Phantom locomotives which now 1 of the 2 locomotives are unavailable due to the pre-order the company's cancelation. They did not bother to notify me in anyway and special run had sold out. I've gotten over it. It's not hearts and lungs. I moved on to other dealers as Steve strongly suggested that we do before he hung up. Since then, I read some online posts. Most were similar experiences. No problem as long as there is not a problem. When there is a problem...good luck. If I had to make an analogy: Remember the Seinfeld episode "Soup Nazi". Need I say more? From my viewpoint, don't count on service beyond the sale! Be especially careful if you pre-order. The rights that are reserved for Mr. Muffin to cancel your orders state that he can do that if there are unreasonable cancelations on your part. In reality, that means a FIRST or ANY cancelation as opposed to an true abuse of their pre-ordering system. Watch out for hidden tariff charges and taxes. These charges are not transparent and not upfront. You will charged those at the time of shipping with NO estimate. I realize that this is not totally under their control. However, if you don't like the charges, you will be banished. If you even, ask you will be banished. BE CAREFUL to you newcomers. The hobby is still worth it and so are many other dealers who are decent businessmen and hobbyists.

The brat was very good and bursted with flavor, especially when combined with some mustard and chopped onions. Hotdog... a little less so. It didn't have a lot of flavor, but definitely did its job! Condiments were as you would expect with the classics - packets of ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish, then a little dish of chopped onions. Personally, I'd love to see some brown mustard for the brats and maybe some banana peppers or extras to really spice up the bite break on the bend.
