I don't play Badminton, Racquetball or Tennis so it's clear that I'm not a member, but we came here for our work christmas dinner. The Club itself is fairly large, given that its smack dab in the middle of the city. However, as we went through a tour of the facilities and the building itself, its very clear that the building is old and disjointed and lacks proper flow from one area to another. The courts seemed to be in quite good condition though and you could tell this was an upscale type of club. The area where we had our lunch was quite nicely refinished and looked very crisp. We were seated in a room with a large round table for lunch. There was a set Christmas menu with choice for the main: squash and apple soup, a choice of Turkey Dinner, Salmon or Vegetarian and Christmas "pudding" for dessert. The food was quite good, I very much enjoyed the soup, a nice hearty appetizer for a cold day. The Turkey dinner was great, stuffing, vegetables, turkey, cranberry sauce and potatoes. The Christmas "pudding" was a bit odd, more like a cake with a small scoop of ice cream, but still good. Overall, it was a good experience for a staff luncheon but I dont' think I would recommend this venue for anything other than a relatively casual lunch (provided you know someone who's a member) as the facilities just don't seem to be able to handle much beyond that.

Yes, they can host weddings (or in the event I went to, a funeral - yay), but really in the city you could do much better. Their space is nice, through slightly dated, probably due to an older demographic who frequents the club (I assume!). It seems to me that they are going for a "classic" look, but the result is more of a "dated" look - it reminds me a lot of the Faculty Club at the University of Toronto - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if these clubs were somehow linked. In terms of food, they do make a mean cheese platter - at their finger sandwiches are definitely tasty. Also, the bartenders are heavy handed on the alcohol - which may have not been the most appropriate at the event I was attending - but you know. The bartenders themselves were quite friendly and one in particular makes quite a delicious caesar! The only part of the club that does not need an update, in my opinion, are the washrooms. I am a sucker for venue-branded one time use towels (I know, I'm a tree killer) and soaps and lotions, apparently. Overall as a venue, this place is ok, but nothing special. In a city of hundreds on venues, you could definitely do a lot better (but also a lot worse) than the Badminton & Racquet Club.

The good: - It's cheap - it was less than $90 for the entire season which went for over 12 weeks. - They provide everything you need - bats, balls, bases, umpires, helmets, score sheets, hats etc... I literally just had to show up with a baseball glove and running shoes - It's really, really, really fun and the people are really, really great - proximity to my house The bad: - It's over for this year? - I got called out for throwing my bat. I've been to the Friday night drop in ($17, from 9pm - 1am) a few times now and actually quite liked it as compared to the other indoor volleyball courts in Toronto. HUGE area with super cool post industrial/factory "decor" from the previous operation. A little challenging to get up there if you don't have a car, walking up a dark street from the bus stop..is not for the faint of heart. Getting home from there at night via TTC is another challenge. Best advice: carpool/ taxi, or go for their Sunday (DAY ITME) drop-ins Liked that it's not too cold inside since it wouldn't be nice to freeze the moment you stopped playing/ waiting for the next game. It's usually not too busy when I was there, so it's awesome not to be sitting around and wait. I find that people that play there are friendlier as well. Good mix of people playing 2's, 4's and 6's. Not too hard to find a partner/team if you go alone. Here's how it works when I was there, Winner stay, loser out. You find a partner/team and go to the court you want to play in, call the next game and play the winner. If there's a lineup, then usually peeps would agree on maximum 3 wins per team consecutively. Sometimes there's a flipping score broad laying around, it will be great if you can ask someone along the side to keep score. If not, just keep score and call out every time one serve. Yes, yes, it's just a game, why take it so seriously? Well, nothing is more annoying for people who are called the next game just to found out that NOBODY were keeping score. There are lots of space and showers in the washroom. Go through a maze and then you will find the ladies washroom. A little sign/direction where the washroom is will be much appreciated for the first timers. Beach Blast also offers leagues, clinics and tournaments of which I have never been, but heard good things about. If it's not for the location, I most likely will sign up for more activities at Beach Blast.

Beach Blast is worth a shot if you're looking to get your beach volleyball fix…read more Pros: Lots of courts (including outdoor) Cons: Poor ventilation (leads to very hot temperatures inside) I came here for a tournament on a Monday night. First thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was how hot and humid it was. This places doesn't have very good ventilation at all. There were 16 teams at this tournament so there were a lot of bodies inside which made it worse. It was a hot day temperature wise outside but it was like heaven compared to inside the venue. They need to do something about that. Other than the heat problem, Beach Blast is otherwise not a bad place to play. There are a good number of courts available. They even have some courts dedicated to beach dodge ball. Outside, there are another set of courts available (why weren't we playing there?) as well. There's a little bar at the front that serves cold drinks. I was not able to located a water fountain of any sort so bring your own water unless you're willing to pay for it. Something to note, if you come in the evening, it's very dark when you l;eave as the lighting in the area is not good at all. It's located in an industrial area so plan accordingly, specially if you don't drive. All in all, Beach Blast is pretty much like all the other indoor volleyball courts I've been to. It's not going to wow you at any point but you'll have a great time nonetheless.

All I have to say is that this is the most inhumane company I have ever dealt with. I went to their gym ONCE and I won't go into details because it is very personnal but any gym would have let me cancel my membership with what I lived through. Their lack of compasion, kindness or empathy has been deeply hurtful and completely uncalled for. I went to their gym once. Now they have put a collection agency on my case. Again, used their facility ONCE AND I PAID 2 months.
