Very hot out so I needed a cold pick me up, plus a few minutes of air conditioning. Super clean with a modern decor, bright, colorful art on the walls, a few seats and table inside. Friendly barista who prepared my drink. Some patio seating in front but way too hot out for me. There is a fun giant teddy bear sculpture leaning against the shop.

I tell you all that to say that we did not take the Bewery Tour because I thought I might be related but because we sampled two of Stewart's brews 80/- and Black in Edinburgh. They are delicious. So my wife was game to go regardless of whether we met Steve or not. That would have been the "Orange slice on the top". Spoiler alert, I plan to write him and see if he's game to join our genetic genealogy project. So no we didn't meet him , but Jeff Simonsen was a great host, told a great history of craft brewing, how beer is made, and the great things Steve is doing to teach others how to brew. The samples were great! And we even found an IPA we both liked (and that's unusual! I'm generally not a hop guy. It's called Radical Road! The name kinda gives you a clue as what to look for and sure enough there is a big red barn - funny that! But the wee cafe inside said barn is really well done, light and airy in pale blues, natural wood and lots of white. The cake table is very cleverly positioned between the door and the seating meaning you have to peruse the cakeage on your way to sitting down. Another place diets go to die, my favourite! The staff were quick, pleasant and chatty when we initiated conversation. I prefer it that way, I hate having to endure small talk when the kids are causing havoc and I'm in serious danger of D&T's from caffeine deprivation. They get it just right in here and lots of kudos for that. Everybody was delighted with their cake and drink, especially smudge who went all out with a hot chocolate and a chocolate brownie. She was particularly fun in the car on the way home with all that sugar coursing through her system. Because of course the very idea of having to share her cake with anyone brought tears to her eyes - I fear she may be far too like her mother! My flat white was perfection and the date slice was the best I have had since my friends Granny died - no date slice will beat Granny B's but this came close. Fruit and veg is of good quality, and there is a good selection. There isn't such a great selection of fresh meat, however the price is cheap and the quality is excellent. You will save money over the local Tescos and Morrisons if you do your shopping here instead.

It was my favourite dish. They literally tore my heart out. Can you begin to imagine how long it took to get me out of hospital for this? The quality and even the hygiene is horrible here. The coffee bean has become belittled in our society because of this place. BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE!!! In my professional opinion, Costa Coffee has left a mark on the coffee industry, a horrible burn that will scar our generation for centuries. The only good feature they have introduced into this cruel world is the ham and cheese toasties, which I thoroughly enjoy every time I go there, which is frequently. In my time of life, I have had the pleasure of enjoying several wondrous coffee shops. This is not one of them.
