I was very apprehensive at first, because I'd never stayed at a hostel before, but I'd say it was an all right experience.
Stayed here for one night due to a badly planned last minute trip to Rome from Naples. Found this on HostelWorld online on Christmas Eve, and made my reservation for 2 AM. At €11 per night, this was a great price. When I arrived, I was told I had made a reservation at a different place, I can't remember the right name because I was very, very tired, but I think it was Alessandro's Bar, or something close to that, located on the other side of the train station. To my grateful surprise, the guy at the front desk offered to switch it at no charge, and I was able to check in early. (Thank you!) It's not luxurious, but it is convenient. Staff are at the desk 24 hrs. Lockers are free, but you need to provide your own lock, available for purchase for €3, but luckily I didn't need one because I didn't have anything with me. Room was spacious, with four bunk beds, though they might be a little small for a taller person. (I'm average height) Found some long, red hair on my bed, but I didn't really care, just brushed it off. Sheets were clean, pillow was comfortable, loved the hard bed, my back appreciated it. Room was warm, considering it was a chilly night. They offer group activities and such, but I just wanted to sleep and take the train home first thing in the morning. As for the area, it seemed a little shady, the street was littered with garbage and broken glass, it smelled of urine, graffiti covered the walls, and I was expecting shady characters, but I guess it was too cold. I thought I was going to regret my decision, but once I walked inside, there was a night and day difference between outside and inside. I've lived in New Orleans, so I know how to take care of myself, but I wouldn't recommend for anyone to walk this area alone late at night. It is convenient because it is so close to the train station and other tourist areas and shops.
Would I stay here again? Yeah, I most likely would. It's convenient and cheap, plus I got to meet some people from different countries. read more
