Not a bad place if you have a few hours to kill before getting back to your cruise ship. There are…read moretables with umbrellas right on the beach in the sand. We had Coconut Shrimp as recommended by the waitress and ordered Guacamole and Chips with our bottles of Mexican Coca-Cola. All of us were concerned about food borne illness so we were wary and cautious but everything subsequently turned out okay. The Coconut Shrimp were six large prawns served in a fresh coconut shell with salsa. I was used to this preparation as having tiny bits of coconut in a fried coating. However, these shrimp had a substantial coating of moist, fresh shredded coconut which was then covered by a light batter and crispy panko crust. This is definitely a coconut shrimp. The shrimp is sweet from the coconut and is a very different preparation and taste. Not bad for those who love a pronounced coconut flavor. The various salsas provided a different taste to the shrimp and were fresh tasting. The cooked vegetables, chayote and carrots, that came with the meal were very flavorful sides to the shrimp. The Guacamole was freshly made and tasted very rich and flavorful. The texture is creamy and was a perfect accompaniment to the freshly fried corn tortilla chips. Overall, one of the better tasting restaurant guacamole that I have ever had. One suggestion is to keep the restaurant menu with you or take pictures of the menu pages for the items ordered. After the conversion to US Dollars from Mexican Pesos, we realized the whole meal with sodas came to US $60. I realize that tourism is basically the only local economy in this area but the price is steep even in US terms and price gouging is apparently rampant. Just be aware.

Five stars for the view and service. Food was good to really good, but honestly not that memorable…read more I had the dorado a la diabla which was a nice Mahi mahi cooked well but lacked the punch you would expect from an a la diabla dish. Very good otherwise, but I wanted heat! Also tried the arrachera which was again, good, but not great for Mexico. I get it. It's a hotel restaurant which probably caters to American and Canadian tastes, but I guess there should be an option for those that like spicy food :) So many tourist spots have a killer super spicy salsa to make up for this, but sadly we didn't find it here. Getting there was also a little challenge. We had no problem with our cab driver that we made friends with, but it might be a challenge or actually a reason to charge more for the carefree tourist. There is actually quite a bit of unpaved bumpy dirt road to get there A good reminder to ask about the fare before you take the ride. I was shocked how little our guy charged us but he did say he would charge more if we were a normal tourist fare. Worth the trip for the views and service for sure. Looks like a great surf spot in the cove below too!
