I came here for the first time with a friend who highly recommended it. We ordered two appetizers, the spinach artichoke dip with pita and the parmesan chicken. The pita bread was delicious and melts in your mouth. The parmesan chicken was very tender and juicy. We ordered a large pizza with thin crust, shrimp, FRESH mushrooms, and garlic. They did an awesome job and was one of the best pizza places I've been to. The atmosphere was nice. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed. It was a family-friendly environment and would be a great place to take kids to. We sat in the bar area so we wouldn't have to wait for a seat. I have always liked the pizza here and the Primavera Salad is the best thing on the menu. I am not a fan of the pasta but the Beef Filet is outstanding as is the Veal. So, have a Primavera and a cut of beef or pizza and you're good. If you want pasta, drive to The Hill. I've tried Aldo's restaurants 2 times. My first visit was after church on a Sunday about a year ago. My husband and I waited to be seated for 10 minutes without seeing anyone from the staff. A couple walked by and said good luck getting serve we never saw a server. So we left. Tonight I wanted to give them another try. My husband, daughter and I waited only a few minutes before hostess asked how many in our party and then grabbed some menus and walked off. I asked the other host should I follow her and he said "I'm not sure". We did and she seated up at a table. We watched two other couples be seated, one acrossed from us and one behind our table. Maybe 10 minutes apart. The server waited on the table across from us and went to get their beverages. She came back with their drinks, and rolls. I thought surely she will come to us next. Nope! Then another server waits of the table right behind us. Meanwhile, another table is seated and the server goes right over and grabbed their order. At this point 28 minutes had past since we were seated and I had enough! I told my family we were leaving. I love to support local restaurant but there is definitely a problem at this one. read more

The three of us tried different lunch specials at Aldo's today and had a great experience. The house salads were beautifully presented. The pasta dishes were so flavorful, hot from the oven and covered with bubbly melted cheese. The slice of thin-crust pizza was large and tasty. Each of our lunches was only $5.49. The dining room looked fresh and clean and was very pleasant. Our server, Rita, was so gracious. We left as the hostess said, "Don't be strangers!" You have got to try the hot wing pizza. Its just enough but not killing you. The staff has been 50/50. One time great, the next time i had to go find someone for a refill. We took a weekend trip to Washington and felt like ordering pizza. We like to support small businesses, so we asked the hotel receptionist for a local joint and she referred us to Aldo's. We found a coupon for free chicken wings with any large pizza. We ordered a large regular crust, spaghetti, a side salad, and - yep - those free chicken wings. Strike 1: Pizza arrived on thin crust; mediocre at best. Strike 2: Salad wasn't anything to write home about. Lots of oil, sprinkle some Parmesan, and toss. Where's the mystery? For starters we are regulars at this restaurant, we typically eat there at least once a week usually take away. I tried a new dish that I never had before and decided I don't like very much I thought it was gross so I contacted the restaurant and stated that it was really oily , the girl answering the phone told the manager "tony" what I had said she gets back on the phone and says " he said that's the way the dish is supposed to be" so I told her the bottom line is I don't like it can I just get a refund for the dish she asked if I would bring the dish and they would refund. So I collect my kid (who I was getting ready for bed) drive to the restaurant and wait... And wait.. And wait... The girl at the desk says your here for the refund right? Me: yes she goes to get the manager whom is standing just out of sight at the entrance to the kitchen and tells her something she returns "he's really busy" apologized and asked me to wait.. 20 minutes later the manager comes out of the kitchen looks at me and mumbles "you must have liked it there was nothing left" (for the record I DID take a few bites) I was upset I felt like this guy was accusing me of trying to be shady when all I wanted was a refund for the meal I didn't like. so the next day I check my bank account and not only did he not refund the meal but charged me twice once for the original purchase and then a second charge for 19$! It's interesting that the hostess is more polite and professional than the management. read more

The only reason I give 2, is Ive had great pizza before from Aldos. So I decide Sunday to up and pay 25$ for an 18 inch deluxe for a birthday treat to myself. I read a bad review on the canned mushrooms, but like a fool, I ordered it anyhow. So yeah, the canned mushrooms over took the pizza with there rubbery texture. I mean a ton of them.The middle of the pizza was soggy from all the water content from them as well. I was so disappointed. Who puts canned shrooms on a 25$ pizza, it is insane to me. Note to Aldos, fresh vegetables if you charge that much. I will be sausage only guy from now on. read more

Seriously I have been a patron of Aldo's since he first came to Washington. I have to say when Aldo cooks no one can beat his food. On the other hand if he is not especially making the pizza (and why should he, he has his boys to help now) it is pretty hit or miss. Depends on who is doing the cooking. Sometimes the curst is so tough it is ineditable and other times it is really really good. I'm sorry to say this and I do not remember the other boys names but when Tony cooks it is pretty good, ALMOST as good as his dad. This is my honest opinion. We had eaten take-away pizza from Aldo's many times before so we knew they had amazing pizza. Tonight we wanted to have a nice birthday dinner and there are absolutely no well reviewed restaurants open in Washington on Sunday. None. So when we read the menu we were amazed. We called ahead and ordered a pizza as an appetizer because we knew we'd have to have it and we ordered 2 different steaks,2 different veals, a salmon and a pasta. It all came with lovely salads with homemade dressing ( the Caesar was superb) warm rolls and pasta or fresh sautéed vegetables as sides. We had a great bottle of wine from Aldo's home town in Italy and they brought us serve ware with a smile for the birthday cake we brought. Everything was wonderful. Delicious food and friendly service. This is a really top notch restaurant hiding in a pizza joint. Don't miss it! read more

Do not waste your time or money! I had the Chicken Maldago (I think that's what it was), the pasta with white sauce and the Caesar Salad. The waitress was very sweet and was attempting to direct me to a great dish as I had requested. Caesar Salad: swimming in Caesar dressing. Truthfully, it would have been much better if it had been lightly coated. People can always request more dressing on the side. Side dish: White pasta. Drowning in white sauce which had very little if any flavor. It tasted more like flour than anything. I was able to Doctor it up a bit with Parmesan and salt. Chicken Maldego: chicken was easy to cut with a fork. The sauce had too much lemon in it. When it arrived, it had "jelled" already. In addition, the menu did not state the dish was draped with proscuitto......way too much of that. It would have been much better if the proscuitto was used to accent or enhance the flavor, not dominate it. Feel free to eliminate this dish from your menu. The house Merlot was adequate. My waitress did apologize I was unsatisfied with the meal but offered no discounts....I returned the chicken after two bites with3/4 f the dish left. I did tip her 20% mainly because she is not responsible for the taste of the dishes or the timing of their arrival. This place would do better to remain a pizza parlour only......however, I have no idea how the pizza is as I have not tried it. ONCE wasdefinitely enough! read more

Came in for dinner last Friday, probably because we were looking for a place that we haven't been to in a while. Well, my experience validates why I haven't been back here lately. Not only did we get the waitress who was probably brand new, she nearly had a nervous breakdown because she was "so slammed" as she explained to us. I felt like we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. She practically threw our drinks at us and watching her actions with everyone around us was almost embarrassing. All four of us at our table were convinced that she was drunk. She knew nothing about the wine selections we asked about and left twice to go ask questions to who I assume was the bartender. The food was ok at best. Then time for the bill: Not only did we throw her for a loop with a Borgia card (which allows for a discount on the meal) then she proceeded to take my credit card, along with the credit card and bill for the table next to us. Ten minutes go by, when she comes back out to the table explaining that she inadvertently charged me for the other table's bill AND mine. She tried to reassure me that the other bill that I paid for was "voided", however, three days later, and I still have not been credited back the extra $50 from the other guest's charges. As for the Borgia card, not sure if I ever got the 15% off I was supposed to get, as she gave that to the other table as well, and I never saw my restaurant receipt after all the confusion. So, I call to speak to a manager (today, the following Monday), and one would think that there is a manager on duty at all times, but NO. No manager today--you'll have to call back tomorrow. As I'm sure the restaurant business isn't the easiest business to run, I would think that you would train your employees well enough before putting them out in the dining room on their own. This kind of experience can really hurt a restaurant business in a small town. I know I will not be visiting this place again. read more
