    Super Special Salad

Amazing service from Shannon B today! Above and beyond and the super special salad was a 10/10.

Absolutely wonderful Italian food. I moved away from Washington 30 years ago but every time I visit I make a plan to eat at Aldo's. Their pizza is excellent, the salads are generous and delicious and of course you can't come back to this area without getting toasted ravioli. Today my mom and I ordered the chicken Modega. Great dish. Fried chicken, lemon cream sauce with bacon and mushrooms. You can't go wrong

Screw imbedded in Aldo's pizza crust
    Lindsay M.

DINERS BEWARE: Found a screw in Aldo's pizza! As Washington natives, Aldo's has been a family favorite for Italian dining. We have had mostly good experiences so were happy to order pizzas for our Friday night in with our children and their grandparents. My mother was shocked to find a metal screw imbedded into her pizza crust (see photo attached) but luckily saw it before taking a bite. Obviously we were concerned with the possibility of another potential choking hazard, so we carefully examined all of the other food for hardware but found nothing. We called the restaurant, explained the situation and arranged to replace the pizza. Upon arriving at Aldo's we showed them the original pizza with the screw still wedged in the crust. The store manager, Tony Alu, then accused US of planting the screw in the pizza ourselves! He rudely insinuated that we purposefully put the screw there for a free pizza. Completely dumbfounded, we could not believe what we were hearing! NO - we did not put a screw in the pizza our children were eating No apology, no explanation, no response other than to defensively place blame. We didn't expect anything for free and did not plan on taking this any further than a simple pizza exchange until Mr. Alu exhibited one of the worst displays of customer service we have ever experienced. I don't know what was worse - the frightening possibility of myself or one of my small children ingesting the hardware or the way we were treated by Aldo's management. Surprisingly enough this is NOT the first time this has happened at Aldo's, another recent reviewer found a drill bit in her salad! We will not be back, I would strongly suggest thoroughly checking your food for dangerous hardware if dining here.

Spit this out after taking a bite of a Caesar salad. Repulsive.

Really good, brick oven pizza. Pasta is good, but haven't had anything great yet. Service is very good.

This place wasn't even that packed but it took us an hour to wait. It could've been longer but we left before we tried the food.

Neither of us had been here, but a friend recommended we go. It was on my list of restaurants to try so I was more than happy to go! We were served by Shannon. Shannon had such a wonderful sense of humor telling my husband no phones or watches at the dinner table he also kept the bread coming. Like I said, it was a full house so we were eating bread for a while. It was so worth the wait though. My husband got the benedito's farfalle since his favorite pasta is bow tie and I ordered the Rigatoni alla Nino. Mine was delicious and the perfect amount of spicy. The salmon was UGH. Chef's kiss, but my husband's order? I WOULD GET THAT TOO. He ate two baskets of bread though. Lucky for me. I told him he better ask for the rest of his to go because it will have my name written all over it! I was so close to finishing mine but alas, I was too full. Luckily not full enough because we got this dessert. This secret dessert lol what a show. It was made at our table. (I love when restaurants do this) it looked like vanilla bean ice cream with amaretto, a sauce I couldn't tell what that was, and sliced almonds. I am sure I'm missing other ingredients but HOLY COW. Everyone in the restaurant was staring. It was quiet the show. I was scared my hair would go up in flames but he's a pro. That would not happen. The first visit but certainly not the last. We will be back and we will be bringing everyone we know!

The linguine di mare was enjoyable, though somewhat heavy-handed with butter and garlic, which slightly overshadowed the dish's balance. Unfortunately, the service significantly detracted from the overall experience. Despite having a reservation at 6:30pm, and a simple order for two, our entrées did not arrive until approximately an hour after ordering. The delay was excessive and ultimately forced us to leave as soon as the food arrived, leaving us to hastily eat a few bites from the styrofoam to-go containers rather than enjoy them as intended. Given the $160 price point, the experience fell well short of expectations, making it difficult to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I was taught by brother that you should book your first dinner reservation as after flying all day, one is tired, and not able to make good decisions...hence eating at a TGI Fridays in New Orleans on our first night. The only thing that tricked us was the Toasted Ravioli. It has meat in it, and my wife is vegetarian. The Arancini was terrific and the table bread was also quite tasty. My wife had the Manicotti and I had the Chicken Lemonata. So great. The bottle of the house Gitto's Red was the perfect wine as well. He was already stopped at hostess desk and asked to remove his hat. He and his parents explained his medical situation, Alopecia. The hostess said she would tell management and there would be no problem. Only after we were enjoying our drinks and appetize did someone feel the need to approach my nephew again in front of the whole table to ask him to remove his hat. Then another came and said same thing. Completely rude. Also very judgmental. You lost a family that loved your food.

I had been a few times in the past but it was my family's first time. I don't drink alcohol and they have a great mocktail section! I got the NOPE-rol Spritz, it was delicious! My family and I split the white truffle fries and ciabatta as appetizers and they all got pasta dishes that they loved. I got a pizza (the Arugula) and unfortunately I feel as though I ordered wrong (which was my own fault), I didn't really care for it. When you took a bite it was like all the toppings fell off on the first bite. I think they cut the pizza before putting the toppings on which just made it harder to eat. I think the best part of the night was the service. We had Grace as our waitress (she was training another girl, but unfortunately I don't remember her name). They did a fabulous job - Grace did a wonderful job training her! It felt like we were at one of the more elevated Napoli's like Napoli III. They were so attentive and gave us great suggestions. The food will be very familiar from the perspective that everything we had was excellent. We started with calamari, and to our surprise there were also a small group of onion straws on the plate. It was served with 2 sauces (one marinara and one aioli - both were excellent). Don't skip the fried lemons, they are an added treat. We then moved on to the Napoli salad, it is as described on the menu...crisp, and appropriately dressed. Then we had the special pizza of the evening, it was a black garlic base (not strong) with mushrooms and burrata on top - delicious. We also happen to be sitting next to the area with the pizza oven - a must see if you are there. We did sit inside, but outdoor seating was available. What might not be so familiar, but I thought was great, was a more casual atmosphere, and decor, I would classify is as upscale casual. Our server was very pleasant, the only thing that surprised me was the time in between courses seemed a bit longer than expected, but that gave my friends and I a chance to catch up. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I will be back!

I also never got a fresh refill of any drinks and soft drinks are 3.50! I ordered the salmon crostini and tacchino sandwich. And while the ingredients were fresh and plentiful, and it left me wanting more: more toast on the crostini as it was soft and flimsy with the salmon which is also soft and flimsy, wanted more tomato flavor in the tomato goat cheese mousse, wanted more goat cheese spread and fruit compote on the sandwich to offset the density of the turkey.
