We arrived to the theater early to check-in and to use the restrooms prior to the show. There's a few areas where you can purchase drinks. There's coat check service but we didn't use it and I'm not sure if it free. There was also a small souvenir kiosk stand to purchase Moulin Rouge merchandise. For the Moulin Rouge musical, our seats were around row 16 and we got a nice view of the stage. The musical is in Dutch but at least the pop songs were still in English. We have watched this musical before on Broadway (in New York) so we kinda knew what to expect. I also like that the Beatrix Theater is very close by to Utrecht Central station. It's about a five minute walk from the train station to the theater.

I played a few shows here and was pleasantly surprised by the facilities, especially the artist's foyer/cantine. The lobby is home to a very nice cafe that would also be a nice place to drop in for a coffee. Check the schedule for all the shows - theater, dance, music - the Schouwberg has it all!

De Parade happens every year in the Summer for two weeks, usually at the end of July. Hosted in…read moreMoreelsepark, it consists of several spaces managed by different performers presenting theatre acts and shows. Most shows are in Dutch, but there's also something in English for international visitors. There are food and drink courts all around and it's good to enjoy some fresh beer while watching performers going around the park to promote their show. Definitely something to try for a taste of local flavor.
