It's an upscale grocery store chain (they're everywhere!) with more of the foods I'm…read moreused to seeing in the U.S., but an abundance of excellent quality local and gourmet specialties (i.e., meats, cheeses, yogurts, etc.) as well. This is the daddy of all EDEKAs...large and well-stocked with a beautiful presentation. The fresh produce is beautiful here...and, there's plenty of organic. There's a butcher and deli counter with a huge variety of meats, fish, cheeses, etc. Need to clean your toilet? Socks? Beer (of course...you're in Germany for crying out loud)? They'll have it. And, candy...a hell of a lot of candy. Wow, Germans like candy...which makes me like Germans just that much more. There's even a small Chibo section. If we're looking for something unique, we come to EDEKA. We do not (usually), however, get the staples (milk, non-gourmet cheese and deli meats, etc.) here because it's pricier than the local discount grocery stores. For example...we bought pine nuts here for $3.69 and found them the next day at the local discount grocery store for $1.69. That warrants some shopping planning. I still love EDEKA. Especially this one...

This is my favorite German clothing store. Men, women and kids. A bit classic (with layering…read morebasics), a bit trendy. Lots of accessories. Reasonable prices...with great sales. The closest U.S. store I can compare it to is Abercrombie...but, without the name plastered everywhere, which means you can shop here if you're over 40! If you're a U.S. citizen and you're bringing the clothes back home, have the clerk fill you out a tax refund form, wear them to the airport, and get 50% of your taxes back.

Two stories filled with all of the above...and, then some. It's kinda like a mini-department store without the clothes.. You can find it on the main pedestrian only street in Ingolstadt's alstadt.
