The first got 1 star. I'm feeling more generous today, but they still suck. Why don't they just employ a few more staff to make the checkout queuing less hellish?! Right now I'm in the queue, writing on my iPhone because I know I'm going to be here for 15 minutes. Yes, all of this review was typed with one finger. There are 6 tills, only 3 of them are open. Each has 15 customers waiting... To be fair it's not normally this bad, hence the second star. They do get other fundamentals wrong though. It's impossible to find things because they put half over here, the other half way over the other side of the store. Why? God knows. Put the pasta sauces next to each other. Put all the breads in the same place! Oh and stock the same stuff each week please. The number of times I've wandered around and around the shop looking for something I bought last week...

For the uninitiated, Penny Markt is a budget supermarket chain with everything that goes along with that, e.g. lack of brand names, lack of staff, etc.

I get the salad bar here maybe three times a week. The selection of goodies, for some reason, even…read morein the limited space they have, tends to beat other salad bars - - the variety of prepared salad mixes they offer, the rotating selection of proteins, the nuggets of concentrated nutrition in the form of sprouts, peppers, olives, seeds - - it always makes for a power packet of a salad, that is sometimes my main meal of the day. I like to tuck a wad of tuna over to one side, and for dressing use the tsatsiki. I always feel great after eating this salad, and sometimes have such a hankering for it that I make a special trip, though the location, directly above the escalators from the S-Bahn in Altona, makes it about as handy as you can get. The price is absurdly good when you compare it to salad bars in the U.S., by the way. (There is a similar Edeka salad bar upstairs in the Hbf downtown that is similarly great.)
