They have quite a bit of local produce but things not produced in the region or out of season are shipped in from elsewhere, just like any other grocery. The citrus, peppers, squash, and potatoes selection was especially good (in early Decemeber) and they have local cane syrup (from two different producers!), honey, and jams, jellies, and more. Of course, also fresh eggs and Nettles' sausage, as well. Supposedly when it's watermelon season this is THE place to come for your watermelon!

We played a lot of outdoor activities - it was a hot day and not too crowded. Sadly Poppell was a no go for the 2020 pumpkin season, but we still took advantage of them for Christmas trees! One thing that really stood out was that they were very safety conscious. You could tell that safety is their first priority. The staff were very courteous and it seemed like there was a staff member everywhere you turned. The only reason I didn't give our visit 5 stars was because the "pumpkin patch" was very disappointing. We had driven 1.5hr to get here with the main purpose of wanting our kids to have the experience of a hayride to an actual pumpkin patch. Instead, we waited 45min in line for the hayride that ended at a grass field (not pumpkin patch) with only small pumpkins (that were not big enough to carve). They did have full size pumpkins of various sizes and price points in the main event area back at the farm entrance, but we were expecting a place where pumpkins could be picked off the vine. For this reason, I'm not sure we'd return but I do want all the other great aspects noted because they were so well done.

We haven't picked tomatoes at Driggers for years (we…read morehave a slightly more convenient outlet), but we've seen many satisfied pickers there so perhaps this particular experience wasn't typical. It's still painful when a memory (homage to a mother) turns sour from a bad encounter. Driggers is a must stop for us between Augusta and Waycross, especially for Driggers' greens in fall which are consistently fantastic. Other produce is also excellent, and I loved his comment about 'widow maker' watermelons one summer -- the melons were so large a grown man would stagger a bit carrying one (they were as good as they looked, too). In mid-2024 Driggers 'upgraded' the farm stand in Collins to more of a country store adding a variety of commercial jams, syrups, candy and other items. Nothing wrong with this and the core produce is as good as ever, but it does change the feeling when you enter the store. Strongly recommended for a look-see if you are in or passing through the area and have an interest in excellent, locally grown vegetables and fruits.
