Unfortunately, they kept me there for twelve days, the last five were unnecessary in my opinion. The place is immaculately clean and well maintained. The rehab program is very good. The food is ghastly. They also put me on the wrong diet and I couldn't change it. (It didn't matter since the food was so bad I barely ate; thank goodness my wife came to visit every day and brought me lunch.) Nursing is hit or miss. The nursing aids are very nice and do their jobs well; however, it often took almost an hour for them to answer the call bell. Timely treatments were often as much as two hours late. I had to have a procedure every six hours (catheterization) and more than once a nurse actually didn't know how to do it.

I had to fight to get toilet paper, yes toilet paper. No one was on the same page. There were no universal processes so everything was CHAOS. You wait and wait and wait for even pain meds. Under staffed severely. I was "discharged" last Friday without knowing I had to do it myself. I had to call the nurse at the front desk to tell her I was leaving. No one ever told me this. OMG again, I almost lost the chartered car service waiting to take me home as this nonsense was so time consuming. AND worse yet, I was sent home WITHOUT my very vital meds (heart meds!!). I called and no one knew who could do anything. The meds were there and they were so stupid they couldn't possibly just call a messenger service or send someone to me (I live 10 blocks away). They did not call in any meds to my pharmacy. This just happened and I am now going into my 4th day of no heart meds. It is a disaster and disgrace. AVOID like the plague.

The administrative staff is generally good, as are the nurses and, the PTs. ( Especially Yolanda) However, the caretakers and aides, save for a few, lack the tiniest bit of compassion and/or interest in the patients' welfare or comfort. They are so nasty that no amount of sensitivity training could help. This is such culture shock coming from HSS where the care and kindness is five star quality. I was left to fend for myself for hours on end when I developed diarrhea and chills and could barely get myself to the bathroom. A diaper was tossed to me, but no one came to follow up and check on me. When I rang the bell and asked for help putting my leg up on the bed, which was painful from knee replacement surgery, I was told " she showed you how to do it" before reluctantly helping me. I was told the night before my discharge that an aide, who was one of the few kind individuals there, would help bathe me and wash my hair before my discharge that morning. When she didn't show up, a different aide came in and told me that I would not be getting bathed because I had gotten bathed theday before! She seemed to really enjoy telling me that! Eventually, I was helped with bathing by the kind aide. A walker was ordered for me for my day of discharge. I had only used a walker during my weeklong stay. When my walker hadn't arrived 15 minutes before my Ambulette was set to come, I was informed that I would not be getting a walker because I got one in 2023! I was discharged shakily with a cane that I had not practiced with at all. And last, but not least, was the horrendous, vile, unhealthy food that was served. Inedible! After my week stay at Mary Manning, I felt broken.

ORIGIN: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) was…read moreformed in 1980 when the first U.S. hospital dedicated to cancer treatment -- New York Cancer Hospital (1884), later renamed Memorial Hospital for the Treatment of Cancer (1899) -- merged with the Sloan Kettering Institute, a research institution founded in 1945 by philanthropists Alfred Sloan and Charles Kettering. CONCEPT: The hospital is dedicated to research and procedures (both inpatient and outpatient) associated with cancer treatment. LOCATION: This location represents the first and oldest site associated with MSKCC. It was constructed in the 1930s as part of what later became known as the Sloan Kettering Institute. SURGERY EXPERIENCE: This site (circa 1939) is not intuitive to navigate, the product of limited available space and development of new cancer treatments and associated technologies. Nonetheless receptionists on the ground floor provide the necessary guidance to get to your designated location (including specific elevators). Unlike the new MSKCC sites that are scattered across the city and surrounding suburbs, there appears to be little effort in making the main location peaceful or attractive. However it's important to keep in mind that MSKCC is highly regarded for cancer treatment, ranking second in the nation in U.S. News and World Report (2025) and first in oncology in Newsweek (2026). Hospital staff are professional, patient, and friendly making the experience less stressful. The staff appear to share a stance of not overwhelming patients with information, but are immediately able to answer questions and concerns as they are presented. That said, it's best to be familiar with the current and anticipated next step in care in order to make sure it is enacted as expected. Twice during the three day hospital stay there was need to point out an error in post-surgery protocol, and both were acknowledged and corrected (necessity of limited diet (liquid) and application of intermittent pneumatic compression sleeves to reduce likelihood of blood clots). Hospital meals can become the highlight of a patient's day. There are many options, including some offerings apparently inspired by menus at fine restaurants. Meat and fish dishes arrive well-done, perhaps due to being warmed under dome for long period between preparation and transport to room or prioritization of food safety. If the meals are not tolerable, alternatives in the neighborhood are abundant (e.g. NAYA, Chopt) as long as a way to get take out delivered to the hospital room (such as through a visitor) is navigated. Despite being located without a designated car drop off/pick up area along York Avenue, car pick up after patient discharge was well-orchestrated, and thus not as inconvenient nor difficult as we had anticipated.

Mount Sinai Rehabilitation is the best physical therapy provider I've ever been to…read more Unlike some of the more cramped offices I've seen, the therapy room is quite large with a complete array of machines. You get a full evaluation on your first visit. They ask what your issues are as well as what kind of function you want to regain. Very comprehensive. My therapist was knowledgeable, competent and friendly. Being that they're located in the hospital complex, they follow full PPE protocols. Everything is neat and clean. My favorite thing is that they use the MedBridge Go app to assign exercises. You can follow along with the exercises with the animation. Very easy way to maintain the proper form. Anything that makes the process easier is welcome. Sadly Mount Sinai stopped taking my insurance so I haven't been able to continue. From recent news articles it seems to be more of a Mount Sinai problem than an insurer problem so I have to take off a star. Otherwise it would be perfect. I'm going to miss this place.

Response times were slow, and several concerns I raised went unaddressed for far too long. The level of attention did not match what we were expecting or what was promised. My mother was supposed to be on palliative care, which she never received. The MD never returned my messages, but finally did so only to tell me that my mother had died. My mother was initially evaluated as too well and healthy to receive hospice, but then she died some two months later. The staff seemed unable to comprehend that my mother's stroke had left her with aphasia and weakness in the extremities and that she needed help eating and drinking. We expected far better and the facility seemed overcrowded and understaffed. This was during the COVID pandemic, however. Overall, I am simply unable to recommend this facility. Please look elsewhere.

His room is always neat and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere feels warm and caring. The location across from Cathedral of St. John the Divine is also beautiful and peaceful. In addition, the social workers were thorough in providing relevant information to us. My father received great physical care and thought that all of the nurses and nursing staff were very attentive and considerate to his needs. The physical and occupational therapy teams worked hard to get him back to walking on his own. He especially credits his recovery to Marjorie, an occupational therapist as well as Mujib and Cheryl, both physical therapists, all of whom provided care which enabled him to get stronger by the day.
