Great service! Very friendly and professional staff. We could not be happier with the company and the service they provided.

A nightmare! My…read moremother was admitted for home hospice over the summer of 2022. She lives in a trailer park on the outskirts of Albuquerque. I implored my mother over a year ago to consider relocating closer to my family after her husband died, but she refused. I live in Virginia, and I am the only surviving family member to advocate for my mother. Visiting Angels was recommended by Compassus Hospice care. She has been "robbed" (reported by providers) numerous times while attendance was present. I left $700 cash and a gift card for $500 (to cover expenses) in a pocketbook stowed in a location that only my mother and an attendant knew about- only to be informed that her pocketbook has gone missing. I have called numerous times when the attendant caregiver answered clearly roused from sleeping- and more than once with an attendant who was slurring their words. Furthermore, I have received multiple calls where she has fallen while attendants where present. My mother's checking account has been depleted and the only management involvement is to harass me about payment. The calls have been numerous and each with the caveat that home care will stop, and she will be discharged from hospice. I have been labeled an "exploitive absent son" and the attendants seem to be gaslighting my mother. They are restricting my calls and I have no way to reach my mother. It's been almost two weeks since I've been able to talk to her - I am recurrently told that she is sleeping, or that she doesn't want to talk. Now that her funds are exhausted, I've been receiving buttery calls from the manager that her care can be extended if other funds are available. But, if not she will be discharged. She's being transferred to a skilled facility and expected to be placed in a nursing home over the holidays. I am travelling over Christmas to be with her. I think that as the early boomers reach an age that home care is more frequently relied upon, that exploitative practices and unscrupulous symbioses have been forming between home hospice agencies and home attendance providers. I think more scrutiny and oversight of these businesses are warranted. But I am just another exploitative son. Working long distance with Visiting Angels has been an ugly experience. I expect a reply from a visiting angels representative below or subsequent posts to reply that we should talk this out or that I am being unreasonable... but I am not. It's been an abuse and a nightmare. My mother's last days are tainted by my experience with these people.

She said it keeps the rooms from getting cluttered and promotes safety. The apartments do not have much storage although the place we got for mom has extra floor space. I was helping mom unpack and put all of her clothes away and when Iasked the front desk lady about it she was very condescending as I was interrupting her chatting with the same resident she was chatting with an hour earlier. The facility manager quickly came up behind me asking if he could help with anything. He was professional and explained that that extra storage is in the med room and probably not the most secure option as they get donations for other people and the briefs and wipes at a free for all. I can get mom free standing floor cabinets for her things but started to wonder how much of that first showing was sales pitch. I thought the front desk lady should get another opportunity to be positive. My wife's salon gets fashion magazines that pile up and when I asked her if they would be interested in them I received the same condescending attitude again. I am a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair to ambulate and I am quite aware when I'm being dismissed. The leasing agent also pointed out the non existent smoke detector, non functional refrigerator, and a blank plate cover in need of repair. At that point I did not feel like I could approach the front desk lady anymore as she was still chatting with the same resident and gave me the same condescending attitude twice already. Not looking too good when the main contact point person pushes folks away with a terrible attitude towards communication. I waited till I got home to call the number of mom's activity coordinator. She was not in but thankfully I spoke with Destiny who quickly answered my concerns and came up with a plan to get it addressed. Front desk lady is obviously not interested in helping me at all as she could've easily directed me to the person on the phone. The entire time I was there no one came by to check on mom in her room. This was over a few hours on a Friday. That does not jive with what my wife and I were told in the initial visit. I'll change this post as mom stays there longer. I hope things get better from here. If not there are other places at this price point and care level. Destiny was able to get the fridge going and was respectful when she spoke with me. I will not be paying any attention to the ableist working at the front desk bringing questions and concerns to the more professional staff.
