I really loved this jeweler when I was in Mexico. They don't try to over charge you like most…read morevendors do, even if you aren't fluent in Spanish. I came in just to browse while my husband was at the circle bar outside. They had so much beautiful jewelry. They sell by the weight of the silver. I bought a lot of earrings for my family members and a pair of opal ones for myself. I loved a bracelet they had there, too. But I couldn't afford it. Since I had bought so much, he ended up giving it to me for free. If you're in the area, definitely stop here! They even give you free beer while you browse!

I bought a fire opal n silver necklace w matching earrings, they started at $2,000 I didn't want to spend that kind of money as I already have too much jewelry of all types, the dude was following me for so long n finally offered me an offer I could not refuse, he threw in a beautiful multicolor bracelet n lowered the price to $790. The following day, I tried to wear my pink necklace, it fell apart because 1 link was not welded properly, I called Aviles, they were closed Sunday n open just 1/2 a day Monday. needless to say I was very upset as we were going home Tuesday morning. I love the bracelet n wanted a matching multicolor necklace, I went into this Moon n Sun store located inside the flea market, Jorge, the owner was so friendly but not too overbearing, he offered to fix my pink necklace for free, on top of that he offered to remove 2 links also for free so my bracelet would fit perfectly, provided I of course buy the multicolor necklace for an unbeatable price of $350. Jorge was the nicest n most courteous person, you know you won't get ripped off!! The following day I returned to pick up the repaired jewels, I met his son who owned the jewel store a few doors down, he offered to sell me a matching multicolor earrings for $45, I regretted not buying it then, later I bought a fake silver w real opal on the malecon for $10. So anybody wanting to buy beautiful opal jewels, come here, this jeweler designed unique jewels n you don't have to haggle too much. I was so grateful I found him as it would be impossible to get the necklace repaired back home. If I come back to puerto Vallarta next year, I'll definitely come back for more. A solid 5 stars!!!

I strongly urge any potential buyer to think twice before purchasing from Opal&Co. My experience…read morehas been nothing short of frustrating and deeply disappointing from start to finish. What began as an exciting purchase quickly turned into a 9-week ordeal just to receive the original order, an unacceptable delay by any standard. When the item finally arrived, it was damaged, and that's when things went from bad to worse. Customer service has been consistently unresponsive and ineffective. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, I was met with vague answers, endless excuses, and ultimately no real support. Even more concerning, Sebastian Segovia, the Head of Customer Service, was involved and still failed to provide any meaningful resolution. To make matters worse, the company initially offered complimentary piece as compensation, only to backtrack and withdraw that offer without explanation. Since then, communication has essentially stopped altogether. The lack of accountability extends to the top. CEO Pedro Avilés has been entirely absent and unresponsive throughout this process, which speaks volumes about the company's leadership and priorities. Between the excessive delays, damaged goods, broken promises, and complete lack of follow-through, this has been one of the worst customer experiences I've had. Proceed with extreme caution.

About six months after purchasing, the opal started to degrade and there was clearly a flax. Upon my next return, I took the ring with the receipt and warranty, and they offered to replace the stone if I purchased it from them which was as much as the ring was. It was a joke. I asked for the manager and he was a joke too. Horrible customer service and I do not recommend this store.

You will not typically find me haunting jewelry stores, but I gotta say that the windows of Puerto…read moreVallarta's jewelry shops are difficult to walk past without stopping for a look. On the corner of Calles Carranza and Vallarta in Old Town, Taxco Exporta Jewelry is one such shop. I affectionately nicknamed my GF "Mexico's favorite customer" because despite being in a culture where commerce is based on negotiation, she cannot help but pour over merchandise with glee, exclaiming "It's SO BEAUTIFULLLL!!!" And yeah, I'm pretty much fugazi at that point. Bargaining position: blown! So was the sitch at Taxco Exporta Jewelry. We were drawn inside by the dramatic silver sculpted animals and mermaids and found lots of pretty, sparkly things to delight her. The sculpted work in particular is astounding and powerful. We spoke with Eric (pronounced the Spanish way), who explained that the larger pieces are bonded silver over a porcelain figurine, touched up in places with paint. The results are stunning. My GF tried on some beautiful pieces, necklaces and really large rings, mainly. Prices are in USD and, while low by US standards, still exceeded our souvenir budget. We'd already picked up a ring by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, which she absolutely loves. Eric did try his best to find a price that would suit us for the piece she liked the most because, you know, it was "SO BEAUTIFULLLL!!!", lol. It just wasn't the right time for us. On our next visit to PV, it's likely we will bring some more USD and revisit Taxco Exporta!

Although their jewelry looks amazingly beautiful, it's not the best quality as they tell you it is. I purchase a belt buckle for my son which look beautiful and was very pricey, close to $400 , and I was assured that it was a one of a kind. Well on my son's first time wearing it, the buckle broke. I have attempted to call with no luck, there's no website and I haven't received a reply to my email. This place in contract with certain tour companies and that's how they operate, attending to hundreds of people a day. I'm very upset and sad because this belt buckle was a special gift for my son's birthday...a very disappointing purchase
