Albert Park divides the CBD from the bayside suburbs of Melbourne, and is home to a golf course, a gorgeous lake, restaurants, kilometres of pathways and of course the famous Melbourne Grand Prix, held annually here each year .
Personally, this is not my favourite park in Melbourne, though many people would probably argue that with me. I like my parks very green, full of flowers and covered in trees with a few open spaces. Albert Park is just a little too barren for my liking.
The lake itself is central in the Park, and is my favourite part of it. Each day, particularly when its sunny, you will find locals jogging alone, with their stollers, or in groups taking their laps around the lake. Its also used for some recreational purposes, though no motor boats are allowed on the waters - activities are more of the water paddling and sailing persuasion.
There are roads winding throught the park, which make driving in the area very picturesque, and certainly adds to the versatility of the park, providing roads for the Mebourne Marathon, the grand prix and many other events. Not so great for the times you want to find a bbq for a relaxing afternoon, and the only one that is left is about 10 metres from the fairly busy road. Definitely worth a visit though.
