Visited a family wedding last year and found this small hotel on the internet.
First impressions are mixed - the hotel is very small and in the old part of Macerata. This in itself provides an interesting driving challenge - especially if you are more experienced at driving on the left. The location is amidst a warren of tiny roads and alley - luckily if you can get reasonably close, there are some signs that indicate the prominent local hotels.
The car park is full if there are three cars there - so on occasion we had to leave our car in the middle of the car park and then give the keys to the concierge in case he had to move the car for someone.
The hotel itself is excellent - all amenities that you would want, although the rooms are pretty compact.
The staff are extremely friendly - as are most italians - with not much english. However a bit of verbal jousting meant we ended up understanding each other.
The breakfast is a tasty continental buffet.
The location is great for wandering around old Macerata - and I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore the town or wider region.
For the opera buffs among you there is also the outdoor amphitheatre that holds a regular opera season. Interesting experience lying in bed listening to opera from a few metres away. read more
